    After 6 years I am still very satisfied with my Panasonic G80. For events and concerts under dark lighting conditions, I use the full-frame Sony AIII. Shooting in the dark of non-moving objects is no problem for the G80. Especially with the great IBIS of the G80 in combination with slower shutter speeds, excellent results can be achieved handheld. And I must confess that I often get sharper results with my 100-400 Leica lens on the G80 than with my Tamron 150-500 on the Sony AIII full frame.

    I got my 'Renewed' G85 with the 12-60 kit lens about a year ago for $609. I've since purchased the 45-150 and the 100-400 Leica. I also bought some old Canon FD-mount lens and they produce very sharp images. The G85 handles the newer electronic lens as well as the fully manual lens with equal ease. I feel this was the best camera purchase I've ever made.

      Wow that sounds like an awesome deal! I really do love the G 85, I recently also picked up the G9 and amazing auto focus and The feature said is out of this world it’s about $300 more than the G 85 but I’m definitely loving it as well.

      How about the G9 video record time limit? Is there a workaround to make it record continuously, or at the very least, make it split the video in various files instead of being forced to press the record button after the time limit is out just to restart recording? I'm truly between these two, G85 and G9. G9 has all the specs that I'm searching for, but the fact that it can't natively record video indefinitely, which is a feature that I very highly value, keeps putting me off of it.
      Any thoughts?

    Appreciate this video. At the time of purchase 12/17/21 I planned on picking up the g85 but found the g95 was almost half off. For $767 I got the g95 with kit lens new. At the time of my post it's currently on sale

    I really like this channel and have learned sooooo much. I'm a very green beginner with a digital camera but have reached a point in my life where I now have a bit more time to figure some of this stuff out so when it comes time for my next camera I will have enough knowledge to know what camera will be the best for my future needs.
    I bought a very basic entry level Panasonic Lumix G85 with just the stock lens 12-60mm Power O. I. S. Lens and felt it was a good place to start with the tiny budget and short list of needs at the time. It has served me well and I'm still not ready to move up to another camera just yet because it still does everything I need it to do and the 4k video was and still is important to me. I have come to really like this little camera even with it's limitations.
    Ok...so my question is this. I would like to buy wide angle lens without breaking the bank {new or used} and would prefer to find a wide angle with the built in image stabilization to work together with the camera. Not a deal breaker without the built in stabilization but certainly preferred. I knew all these cameras and accessories where expensive but gosh it's just sooooo much money every time I look for this or that. Sorry....don't mean to complain because I realize that's just the way it is so I will just have to deal with it.
    Anyway...I'm looking for wide angle lens options if anyone is willing to help with some suggestions that would be greatly appreciated. I would like to get as wide angle as possible without the fisheye effect. Oh...and being Canadian means an added burden of exchange rates since most of the best deals are in USD and with our "northern peso" it certainly does not make things any easier...hahaha.

      First off thank you very much for watching the channel I truly appreciate it. Now down to the business at hand I think a good place to start with maybe this lens here I have purchased many lenses from this company and they provide excellent customer service and you can save yourself a lot of money.www.mpb.com/en-us/used-equipment/used-photo-and-video/used-lenses/used-panasonic-lenses/panasonic-lumix-g-vario-14-42mm-f-3-5-5-6-asph-mega-ois/sku-1328566/?gclid=CjwKCAiAn5uOBhADEiwA_pZwcCoGXzxAnWtYWAJ4wfPFcLoVy2ry45AqGIfDKYbXAhATo3po-y85cRoC9sQQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
      this is a nice place to start in a wider angle lens you can also try this one Meike 12mm f/2.8 Ultra Wide Angle Manual Fixed Lens with Removeable Hood for MFT Micro Four Thirds Panasonic/Olympus Mirrorless Camera.
      Just a couple things to be aware of when you go with a wider angle lens and make it some bending in the corners of the picture or even lens flare. Now the more expensive the lens the less of this you will get but just be aware that depending on how wide you want the angle you may see the show up in your video and or pictures..
      Hope this information helps.

    Greetings with the new FW, you can set the focus speed and it is very good for AF, both tracking the face and single-point focus, I have no problem relying only on AFC, even in the video

      Yeah I did read somewhere and seen a couple of videos on TH-cam where you can adjust the speed of the auto focus I just never really had success with it maybe I’m doing it wrong and I should revisit it

    The G85 is still being sold in 2023 and with the kit lens 12-60mm is still a great value at $700 USD! Thanks for your review! I am considering it. Small as a carry around with a decent zoom for family, video, and B cam video. My teenager also likes a small sized camera and into film making.

    I bought it for $350 used body + viltrox speed booster + sigma 18-35 . it works like magic. you can also pick 42.5 (85 mm equivalent) and 25 (50mm equivalent) for dirt cheap prices.

      Outstanding! There are definitely great deals out there and a lot of people don’t realize what a Great camera this is android all of its capabilities. I think a lot of people just are looking for something to be fully automatic where as with this camera you really have to dig in and explore all the settings.. once you get off of Auto on this camera and start using it to its full potential, it is a fantastic value.

    I have the G80 which is the same camera but has the 30 minute record limit. They have contrast based auto focus not phase detection. They are stupidly fast at autofocusing for photo's but it's not good for video.
    All round it's an amazing feature packed camera.

    • @WyceThoughts
      @WyceThoughts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right Jeannie five is a wonderful camera and very feature packed and it does struggle with focusing for video. But it is very doable if you know how to work around it if you’re doing like a talking head video for TH-cam the trick is to not make the contrast based auto focus do a lot of searching. To do this you want to make sure you can you use a background that doesn’t cause the auto focus to go bonkers or you could just set it to manual focus and then stay within that range. I just picked up the Panasonic G9 and wow what a difference with the firmware update the auto focus on that camera is amazing much less hunting in the background in low light in certain situations where is auto focus on the G 85 struggles. Thanks for watching the video.

    • @BarryMaskell
      @BarryMaskell ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it’s a really nice improvement over the g85 except instead of the g85 crop of 1.1 in 4K it has a 1.26 crop so you 24mm lense goes to a 30mm lense equivalent to a 1 inch sensor capture (reportedly) - it’s dynamic range isn’t as good as the g85 even though it has a 20meg pixel sensor - it’s a brighter image but more washed out with less detail - because of the this the g85 is still a sought after camera unlike the g95

    I own the G7 and the G9. If I were starting over I’d get the G85. Easily the best value of any mirrorless camera. Much ado about nothing on autofocus. For a talking head like your video, autofocus it is irrelevant. Focus once and forget it. Also, if you open up your aperture everything is in focus anyway.
