Neo in front of a mirror: Am I crazy?
Thomas Anderson (the image in the mirror): No you are not crazy. You are just tripping.
Neo: This is soooo surreal... a matrix inside a matrix inside a matrix inside a matrix...I love it!
Thomas Anderson: I don't understand why do you always want to keep "waking up" when you are tripping?!? Why do you always want to escape from one matrix into another? Why don't you just exist in just the one universe? Why do you want to keep "waking up" into a new matrix?
Neo: That's because when I trip I become God and I love becoming God! I love becoming God because I love to create a new matrix, and then live in that matrix only to "wake up" from that matrix into another matrix and in this process destroy the old one. And why are you blaming me? You enjoy this Thomas as much as I do! You are the witness. You are the one who is always marveling at my matrices and all that happens therein.
Thomas Anderson: Yes but sometimes this becomes too much for me and I have a bad trip.
Neo: Bad trip good trip. Call it whatever you want. Opening the third eye will have consequences. Deal with it.
Thomas Anderson visibly frustrated takes a short deep breath but then closes his eyes and looks away for a moment before slowly shaking his head and giving out a long sigh. After a few seconds he opens his eyes looks at Neo and asks: So how many matrices are there?
Neo: Infinite. As many as I want to imagine and my imagination is infinite.
Thomas Anderson stares into Neo's eyes. After after a few seconds Thomas Anderson takes a deep breath and says: I hope you know that one day you will be the end of me.
Thomas Anderson then picks up the prescription bottle on the table, looks up at Neo and says: Let's do it then.
Thomas Anderson opens the prescription bottle, closes his eyes and swallows the red psychedelic pill.
      The End.

It's because the story is based on the most sacred truth in this part of the universe. Research Gnosticism. In an interview the directors said this movie is the most successful piece of Gnostic propaganda ever. In case you like the other 99.9% of humans aren't motivated to research further, the summary is that humans are slaves in a system designed by an incredible smart designer(architect) with powerful illusions (the matrix) while harvesting their energy to keep them weaker and keep the designer stronger (the battery/processor harvest idea). There is more to it but this is the basics. Those who attain enlightenment **individually** will be free, there is no other way.

Same here.. It became even more clear to me when , i believe the architect guy said they were getting quite adapt at destroying Zion.. That it is all a cycle. They also call Neo a glitch, and i always thought the "real" world was the 2nd level of matrix to catch the people that dont cope well with the "main matrix program" as it were. And i thought for sure it was even mentioned as such in the movie itself. I`ll watch the (very old by now :P) video and see what he has to say, but im shocked to see this is a "theory" instead of like.. the plot

The matrix universe has 3 levels:
    1. The matrix
    2. The “real world” (necessary to give humans option and the illusion of choice)
    3. Reality
Nobody has escaped the matrix yet. Zion has been destroyed previously, that in itself is proof enough that the “real world” is a simulation. I knew this the moment Neo had power over the machines. Matt is correct. Hopefully we should see the next level in the sequel.

There is a concept known as "The Golden Prison". The concept hypothesizes if you make a prison so nice that no one would want to leave you need not spend resources forcing prisoners to stay - they stay of their own volition. I have believed this theory since the movies were released; They never left the Matrix. By making people believe they had escaped the Matrix to a grittier "real world" the prisoners would never question if they were still inside. Hunting down humans in the "real world" was just to keep up the ruse.
The Architect actually touched on The Golden Prison when he explained an earlier version of the Matrix gave everyone everything they could ever want - but it failed. The machines learned they had to make a prison within a prison.

Philip K. Dick had a story called The Defenders where humanity was forced underground after a war. They left the machines on the surface to continue that war, but the machines soon came to the conclusion that war was illogical. The machines then became unknowing caretakers for humanity pretending to continue the war, but in reality protecting those exiled to the surface and cleaning up the wartorn Earth. I wonder if a similar logic could be applied to these films.

Here's a theory: there are three levels of the matrix.
    3. The matrix
    2. "Real" world. Zion/machine city
    1. Original program
Worlds 2 and 3 were created by and are controlled by humans. There was no war. Humans reached a point where resources were scare and so they created a system to upload their minds to. In this place they were no longer mortal and lived out every fantasy and eventually became bored.
To overcome their boredom they upgraded the system to include mortality. Upon death, their conciousness would reload but their prior memories would be blocked. They would then live an endless number of lives. Each one new and unique.
These lives would take place in level 3. Some would not accept the programming so level 2 was created. Not only did this serve the purpose of keeping the illusion alive but also of creating a new experience. Level 1 is the original program that all minds were loaded to. Upon death, either in level 2 or 3, everyone arrives at 1. Here their memories are fully accessible, their original human life and all of their matrix lives. They can stay in this place and create anything they wish but they will know it's not real. Or they can chose to return to the matrix as a blank slate and have "real" experiences. As stated earlier level 2 was created because some would not accept or believe it to be reality. This is because in the back of their minds they know something isn't right but dont have any memory access to back up this feeling. hintergedanken as used by alan watts is a great word to describe this.

Uhm I have a small question. So if the matrix is an artificial entity, and it is conforming to its prime directive, which is to create an ideal world for humans, without any suffering, then why would they be at war with actual humans? would it not be feasible, to talk to the humans, and as machines do, answer their every question. They'll probably wake up in a cryo-chamber preventing aging as well as malnutrition, have their fill of freedom at various prebuilt and preserved 'holiday centers' like robot disney land, water parks, etc etc, get bored, plug themselves in again, remind the robot program to 'let them know that everything is just a program to keep myself satisfied. And if I'm not, let me out again, until I got bored and get in again." And surely, no one would argue with that, not even the machines. Hell, if all it takes is to let the humans had their fill of real experience, just to come back to a more enhanced and fortunate version, why not? All it would take is simply a percentage of their resource to maintain said service, and that's it. And as why I suppose they would not (could not if we are fortunate) harm human's physical well being, I suggest it's encoded into it's prime directives. If anyone has played oneshot, it is the first rule, no decision should come to harm any human's physical well being. And seeing how even the most powerful of program, the arc, still want to shape this world into something that pleases his creators (customers rather), I don't see any real reason why they would go and harm humans. I mean, you wake up in a chamber, with flimsy arms and legs, faced with a sturdily built industrial standard alloy robot that can probably squish your head into a fine red pulp, why would the first option be to fight it? and if the machine itself pleases the individual, why would any harm or conflict arises? and If the human is unsatisfied, why won't he point out what the problem is? and If a solution is not present, WHY would he, the human, act aggressively to the matrix? Why would he not just design his own thing and do whatever he wants?

    • @monad_tcp
      @monad_tcp 5 ปีที่แล้ว +25

@@hungpham-yi6xb Because humans are machine's pets, humans are at war and not the machines (they already won), because that's their nature. It's a human need and to keep them satisfied some small conflict must exist and some humans will die or be harmed, the human paradise ironically is something where they're at war and is made of conflict.

My new theory... is that there will be no need for AI or Skynet terminators or enslaving human beings, because the internet has made us all so incredibly, passively, dependant, docile, and addicted, to not only a sedentary lifestyle, but one which we DEMAND to be entertained to achieve that same sedentary lifestyle, due towards our conditioned shortened attention span, and obsequious hunger for narcissistic fulfillment.
We won't need machines anymore, it will honestly be 5 corporations that will control everything, aided, sanctioned, and administered by 3 world governments
The irony will come when AI androids try to become more real than sedated humans sitting in their Minority Report arcade-like living room control entertainment consoles
Do you honestly think we are going to stop being dependant on the internet? The machines from the future have already won without ever having to plug you body for energy lol

Daniel O'Brien from Cracked came up with an interesting theory:
What if the machines are the ones in a simulation? What if the humans knew that the machines would eventually grow too smart and rebel, and decided to link all machines with advanced A.I. to a simulation in which they won the war but still have to deal with pesky rebels who won't accept The Matrix? That way the machines are convinced they have already won, but are too busy dealing with the imperfections in The Matrix to realize that they are the ones who are actually trapped.

The machines would still work, but they'd be docile.

In fact, if you try to use words, people will say you are crazy. So just don't even try. Just apply what you've learned, don't try to convince others. Yes, I'm being serious. Take care to notice how some of the ideas in the movie hits a chord inside you. It stands out more than merely a good story. Its almost as if... there's something special about it. Something intangible but you are aware that it is there. It is not something you will reach by overthinking it. But do yourself a favor, make a decision, an intention, that you will find out what this ... feeling ... is. And trust, that even if not through any action of your own, the opportunity for you to find out will present itself and you will recognize that opportunity. There may be no red pills or white rabbits, but better strap in your seatbelt, because the ride is real. See you on the other side.

There would be absolutely no need to do that if it was just all code because the people being liquified are sustaining the people still trapped in the first level of the matrix. +Raymanspy95 a part of your misunderstanding might have something to do with my fingers being a little less precise and accidentally pressing the "i" instead of the "o". my point is this: the video proposes that the Matrix has multiple levels of existence like in the movie Inception. what I want to know is if the "real world" was just another level of the Matrix, why is it that people who die in the first level of the Matrix are liquified within their pods upon death to feed the living humans in the pods when that's basically an unnecessary measure. it's unnecessary because if the "real world" is still another level of the Matrix, the people in the pods wouldn't need to be feed with liquidated people juice because they are already in the Matrix. the people who died in the first level of the Matrix are exactly that, dead, so why are they being liquified when it serves nobody. if the supposed real world was another level of the Matrix, it makes no sense to me that people would be liquified to feed the living if it wasn't really the real world. I like the theory, but the whole liquification element confuses the theory if you ask me.

I was really disappointed when we were given this “the powers of the One extend beyond the Matrix” (or whatever the quote is) line in the third movie. Oh, well.

I came out with this theory back while we were waiting for episode 3 to come out. However i had one major difference.
In my theory not only was the so called "real world" another layer of the Matrix but also it was not created from a war between man and machine. The Matrix was created due to man destroying the earth's environment and therefore we created the Matrix to save mankind from extinction by our own hand and the machines were simply caring for mankind. Those that rejected the Matrix were given Zion and the rebellion seeing the machines as the enemy to fight against simply because that's what that segment of the population needed.

Luc - You'll have to call it 'our' theory from now on because it occurred to me too. And I'll bet there's many of us out there.
But I think the seed of our perspective, at least in my case, was planted long, long ago by...
" 'The Machine Stops' is a science fiction short story (12,300 words) by E. M. Forster. After initial publication in The Oxford and Cambridge Review (November 1909), the story was republished in Forster's The Eternal Moment and Other Stories in 1928. After being voted one of the best novellas up to 1965, it was included that same year in the populist anthology Modern Short Stories.
In 1973 it was also included in The Science Fiction Hall of Fame, Volume Two. "
      and by...
at least one episode of the original Star Trek in which a 'landing party' encounters a planet in which the people inhabit an underground virtual reality... which very well may have been inspired by E. M. Forster's story.
      Cheers!

Only thing that I really disagree with is restarting Trinity's heart. The neural link works because of sending and receiving neural signals from the brain and/or spine. And since all muscles, including the heart, operate via electrical signals from the brain, the neural link could theoretically send an electrical signal from the brain, down the spine, and into the heart, causing it to start beating. And since the brain is still active for about 5 minutes after loss of oxygen before permanent damage sets in, it wouldn't be totally impossible to revive her, using the neural link as a kind of internal defibrillator.

I think a lot of these can be explained by the fact that the humans that were bred by the machines are actually human/machine hybrids, advanced cyborgs basically. Neo’s real world powers can basically be explained by the fact that he has discovered the link between his organic mind and his machine mind. The spoon boy has either escaped the matrix or instructed someone to give Neo a spoon, and the real world is a part of the simulation whether or not it is still a part of the matrix since the machines technically control Zion. Which is why the spoon is presented to Neo, it foreshadows the fact that Zion doesn’t exist in the way he thinks, it’s just another layer in the simulation, just not digital.

Most important question. If we place the whole movie "in the matrix", the entire movie is a charade and we learn nothing (Including the architects whole speech, since it'd be part of the show - including the machines as well actually haha - there might not even be machines or some plot). Unless the movie 'power source/neural network' plot is meant to mirror the real real world, in which case the movies plot would just move up a level, with a "one" coming from a higher level of reality as well. The only way it wouldn't would be is if you couldn't actually leave the matrix at all from within it. Which begs the question, why do the whole charade for humans at all?
I suppose a tentative response could be that to properly work as a power source/neural network, human brains would need to be kept working and busy, and the matrix does that function for the machines, allowing them to go about their everyday business haha.
That's following with the reasoning, but I'm still not ssure I'm convinced of the vids point , though I do find it fun to think about. I'm gonna paste this as a normal comment to, since I think it pertains more generally to

Overall pretty good theory but with some small errors:
    1. The brain controls everything including the circulatory system. So, if we are in the matrix and they hit us and we start bleeding, it could be possible to bleed in the "real world" as your body actually feels the hit like if it was real. Just like some people start bleeding out of their nose while dreaming something that is making them stressed. The brain at that moment thinks that that is real, and the matrix feels even more real than a dream.
    2. When the heart stops the brain keeps working for around 6 minutes, making possible the resuscitation of someone whose heart stopped.
BTW sorry if I misspelled something, English is not my first language.

There is very little purpose to constantly lie to the viewer and maintain endless fake worlds perceived as real just to constantly keep the viewer guessing. At some point it all becomes pointless to be a viewer if that is the goal. This channel is built on outlandish theories, doesn't make them real according to the film's writers.

@@whatsinthebox9732 I agree that it doesn't make them real, but then again, the premise of horror movie franchises relies on the vanquished villain not really being vanquished, but rather temporarily defeated till it rises again. I don't watch a lot of horror, but I've watched enough reviews to know that no matter how accurately you follow the procedure to destroying the "big bad", you do t really do, and it's more of a see you later ending.
Matrix could decide to say they're out of the Matrix, and Neo can control the human world as we've seen him do, or the writers could just as well say it's a much deeper ruse than we initially thought, and hin defeating them is all just a fail safe for them in the eventually that the "Anomaly" actually does defeat the matrix. They've created false hope before, and the Oracle didn't inform anyone about it, so it's reasonable that she's also a part of the Matrix who gains their trust in order to guide the path towards a predetermined outcome of defeat while seeming to help
Also yeah, with theoriesyou have to accept that they're not cannon, but that doesn't make the fact that they're plausible. After all, we've seen directors make conspiracies cannon simply because it was so agreeable

The Matrix is a part of 'the source'... like an arm or a leg. He's a math problem they've been unable to sort since the beginning.
