The first time my lawn guy did that to my bushes, I was heartbroken! But he assured me they would return even more beautiful. He was right.

I know I would have a conniption if my hedge looked like that, 😮 but you know your business so can’t wait to see what is looks like in a couple of months.

I've been looking for exactly how this type of heavy shaping is done. Thank you!

From an expert here, even if you cut them short to a couple inches above the wall, they would grow back nicely in a couple weeks or so. You did a great job.

I would have also cut it further back near the mailbox. Like you said, this plant loves a cutback to keep it compact and visually pleasing.

It would be a gasp worthy moment to look out and see that if you weren't expecting that. I'm not familiar with Marraya hedges, but I'll take your word for it. I know many plants can tolerate and even benefit from a severe clipping.
The only time I got thoroughly ticked with the lawn care guy by Dad hired was when he chopped all his roses down to about 18 inches tall (approx. 46 cm). No proper pruning just hacked them. They did the same to the Cape Honeysuckle, Mexican Bird of Paradise and a couple others. Those were all fine and grew back fuller, but they killed 3 of the 8 rose buashes.

After a slight trim, my row of Murrayas dropping leaves and gone stalky. Fed them blood & bone and water every day but no sign of improvement over past few weeks. Any solution?

We have a murraya hedge that recieved too much water from our neighbours overflowing pool. Its dropped all its leaves. Do you think i should cut it back by half or will this really kill it.
