Tony Hsieh was such an inspiration to many of us in Las Vegas. He encouraged people to look at life and business differently. His presence in Las Vegas has been nothing short of transformative. He will be missed. Rest in Paradise, Tony
About a week ago, I realized I needed to re-read the Zappos Core Values. I only worked with Tony and friends for a couple years, but the impact will last me a lifetime. I have always referred to Tony as the most down to earth company leader, but he was more of a partner to most of us, trying to make sure we have everything we needed to succeed, so that we can make sure the customer is happy, which of course, made us happy. I have worked for many companies in my career, but Zappos was the only company to make me feel like part of a huge family. I honestly couldn't believe you had left us, but then I realized, it's our turn to spread the love, and you were the angel that was here to show us how - thank you for the opportunity Tony.
Tony Hsieh was hands down the most influential people CEO, ever. What a loss. I hope other CEO's learn from him and stop focusing on profits over people.
As someone who works in customer service, I can tell you, based on this report, the way he ran his company was quite refreshing. Treat the customer and the employee like a person. That's literally all you need to do. Never bought a pair of shoes from Zappos in my life, but I keep thinking about this man and the senseless tragedy of his loss. RIP.
Sadly I didn't know anything about Tony before his untimely passing. I then started reading & watching video's about him & Zappos. I'm very impressed by his business acumen and his desire to offer employees a humane workplace. That's something that for the most part has been lost in our society. What companies don't seem to get is that when an employee is happy & fulfilled they excel at their job, thus making the company more money. I hope more employer's take a page out of his book. Well done, Tony RIP
Happy employees help management retain top talent. It's amazing how obvious some of these types of policies may appear yet many companies seem slow to adjust.
Heaven is rejoicing, what a true lost to humanity. Tony, you did make this world a better place. Many CEOs can learn from your legacy. You were a Starseed without a doubt did not stick to the norm and you did it your way or I should say you knew we are ONE. I got a personally written thank you today from the Zappos rep I dealt with a few months ago. She was a delightful young woman and we hit it off immediately. I did not buy a pair at that time, but she was struggling to find shoes for my bunioned feet...have other stories about them replacing a pair of sandals that I DIDNT buy from them. They did however sell the brand. Replaced no charge and I had them the next day...yes, a fabulous company and great customer..RIP TONY. You will be missed.

🙏RIP Tony. 🙏 This was 10 years ago. I hate when they post old clips as if were last week! When they do this, they could at least put a RIP & date at the end! 😔
I used to work at a call center for At&T in Ohio. Their metrics changed almost by the week. Supervisors were always watching you to make sure you were 💯 all the time you would get hit for making a good sale but for saying something they didn’t like you to say. I saw a lot of talented people fired for doing the right thing for the customer but something the company lost money on.
