this seiko killed my watch collection, i sold my sbbn035 and some other watches because all i wore was this sne577......i like that its cheaper than the quartz tunas but still has that classic look and is lighter weight and solar power
Ever since you showed off this watch in your video, I have been eyeing this one - a few weeks ago I was able to get it brand-new at a pretty good price ($450 CAD + tax). I love its tool watch look and amazing legibility in almost any light condition. Thank you for providing high-quality consumer advice! I am sure I will enjoy this Solar Tuna for many years to come :)
I bought the vintage street series tuna. It was my first tuna and solar watch. I absolutely love it. I can't believe how much I love it. This tuna looks incredible too. I'm tempted to buy this 😬
what makes this watch really stand out from the other solar tunas is that the lumed hour markers on the dial have that raised "bubble" look when compared to the tunas with the white markers which look flat, if look at the black tuna dial compared to the skx007 at 5:26 you can see what i mean, it makes the watch look way cooler in my opinion and is the reason why i like it so much
I'm a fan of the original Tuna, although I wouldn't pay a grand for any Quartz watch. I picked up the SNE 497 earlier in the year, as I figured that a stainless steel replacement shroud and a good quality bracelet would make this look very much like the original. I appreciate the practicality of the solar powered movement, infinitely better than their battery powered siblings, in my book anyway. This Black Series isn't too bad either! Great looking although I would swap the plastic shroud for a PVD coated stainless steel one and find a bracelet for it. Love the handset, the orange minutes hand adds a welcome splash of colour. The matt finished bezel insert is great, I think a matt finish really helps the bezel frame the dial, highly reflective ceramic ones can be lost in the glare off the crystal, not an issue with the matt finished bezel insert. Nice to see that Seiko can still align the bezel with the dial, no excuse for misalignment at this price point. Great watch which wears much better than the dimensions would suggest with the practicality of that solar powered movement. Think Tuna's look most at home on a 3 section strap, brushed finish, I'd like to see this on a decent PVD coated one. No visible scratches on the bezel insert after 6+ months (SNE 497)
You convinced me! As soon as I, m back at Madrid (I, m currently at vacation, Fuerteventura, enjoying scuba diving along my son and wearing my old fashioned Citizen Aqualand and a diver computer by Suunto) . I, ll get one of these. Absolutely! My thanks!
Love the Seiko black series. Can’t decided between the tuna or samurai. They both look incredible. I have a smaller wrist so leaning towards the tuna! Only negative is hardlex instead of sapphire 👎🏻
Great looking watch but a little pricey at 550usd. It is probably a good buy if there is a good amount in discount. Just can’t think of buying this yet without discount as we could buy solar tuna pepsi sne499 or solar tuna sne498 for significantly less.
IF the whole bezel was lumed...would have to get it for diving. Great design. Great macros and review!!! (Hardlex for better shatter resistance works for me!)
Just got mine on wrist and oh baby it wears well. Im a smaller wrist man and its perfect. The band is pure shit but thats ok…we have bands! Honestly, lots of buyer satisfaction with my $300 tuna.
The model ends in "K1" if I'm not mistaken. Supposedly that means it's assembled outside Japan. As far as I know Seiko does not share where it is manufactured exactly. Edit: "P1"
Hi great watch but that plastic shroud feels really cheap as I have the different model. I’ve noticed that you do not say anything negative in your reviews why?? Balance?
I said I wished it was sapphire not hardlex. I did mention the shroud but did not find the plastic shroud feeling cheap. I was impressed by how it felt it as it tricked me that it was plastic.
The plastic shroud is awful, I have the SNE 497, I had a replacement stainless steel shroud waiting for the Tuna-Lite to arrive. Likewise the awful original bracelet with the pin & collar and imitation 3 section design, nasty pressed clasp, replaced within seconds of receiving the watch. With these quality replacement parts, it looks and feels like it justifies the £315 I paid for it and looks more like the Marine Master Tuna. With the original parts, more like a £100 -£150. Personally I love the partly lumed bezel insert.

2 years later I came back to see this watch. I love it. thinking of picking one up finally

I’ve just bought one. Will go with my Ninja Tuna and the magnificent first Darth Tuna 011. They truly are a Seiko icon.
Congrats excellent pickup
I bought the SRPH11 Ninja Samurai and I love it. Now another decision must be made. I really think this whole series is so well done.

Grats bro! Hope you do enjoy it
I'm definitely buying this watch after watching this video 5 times 😂
Wearing it right now 😃
True. I did myself
Currently best looking Seiko Tuna watch.
If Seiko made a recreation of the grandfather tuna with this case size or the 38mm save the ocean edition I’d have to get one.

That is awesome! Yes Tuna's are special and only understood once on the wrist!

Yes my fav tuna so far! It has the X factor!

Thanks for sharing.
That color combo looks awesome with the pop of orange.
Along with my SPB253J1 and with my SSC761J1, the SNE577P1 is a great addition to my 'Black' series collection.
awesome! my fav black series for sure!!!
The video this watch deserves

Excellent review I enjoy your Seiko passion along with nice camera work
Just got mine today! Belk had a great sale $360 USD
I wish the Baby Tuna was this big.
I think i m gonna buy one. I have a baby tuna already ( since 2016 or 2015) but the shroud is broken ( and it is ceramic) 😢
Just got it for 280 EUR, used like new condition. No brainer.
I am between this tuna or the black monstwr one too! Tuff decision ! 🤔 great video Bro. Ty !
This one looks so good on the wrist. I like it more then the monster! but tough choice!
@@EscapementWatch I'm in the same boat I have 6 inch wrists which would wear better? and do I want solar or auto with the monster tough decision

go tuna!
Just received my tuna from Kavar Jewellers. Very happy with this watch! Fits and feels great and I can’t keep my eyes off it. 😍

nice to see someone recognize the pros of acrylic and hardlex rather than sapphire all day errday
Another great video man!
Appreciate it!
Nice review, as usual! 😊👍🏻
Thanks bro appreciate it!
Great to see some seikos that fit 6.5" wrists. How do you cope with the extra strap overhang?
Just life the keeper higher so it tucks in close. Or cut.
love the tuna
Just got mine on wrist and oh baby it wears well. Im a smaller wrist man and its perfect. The band is pure shit but thats ok…we have bands! Honestly, lots of buyer satisfaction with my $300 tuna.
You got it for $300? Care to share the source?
@@jasonlin5460 Ill check but it wasnt anything weird…boutique had a discount. Right now its my fav watch.
@@Burritosarebetterthantacos I just ordered a new one from an American source for $400, so not a bad deal but $300 would have been better 😀
Reminds me a bit of my Arnie.
Como faço para comprar um relógio desse nos EUA... aqui no Brasil é muito caro
check the 10 oclock dial....is it solar dial signature?
Any promo code to pick this one up?? 😁
Call Kavar let them know I sent you and they should take care of you
is it blue lume? or green lume?
3:39 looks quite blue, but 6:49 is very green?
Great Video btw.
Thanks
Its green! The blue is the reflect from the UV light just for show. It was supposed to be an artist macro.
@@EscapementWatch I see!
Thank you !
Planning to buy it soon
hi...may i know this is made in japan?

You can get an aftermarket shroud for this one I believe.
Good video
Thanks for the visit

Looks inspired from Citizen NH8380-15E??
Most people compare that Citizen to the seiko skx but I think you're right, it's more like the seiko tuna.
color wise it could be! But case, dial, hands are all Seiko tuna heritage!
The Tuna is unique and was first; how can you say it’s inspired from a Citizen?
@@Webb_Master I think its the orange arrow minute hand which wasn't part of the original seiko tuna.
