  • Cracks in your brick lines. Do they automatically mean your house is settling, or that you need a lengthy, expensive repair? Join us today at a viewer's home as we assess some potential damage: after receiving a scary estimate quoting thousands of dollars in repairs, they called us in to provide a second opinion.
While we STRONGLY encourage you to regularly inspect your home, not every flaw or problem should set off all the bells and lights! Some problems are easy fixes, others are signs of deeper issues, and some could be either one. In this video, we'll explore how cracking brick could be a sign of either major settling or of simpler drainage and erosion issues. Worried about cracks in YOUR home's walls? Join Kent as he explains the various factors to consider!

    🔨 ABOUT CONSTRUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS 🔨
Over the years we’ve seen many different approaches to home maintenance. Some are good and some a little questionable, but most involve waiting for a problem and then asking lots of questions-what is a sump pump? How do I know if this is mold? Am I responsible for that water line? Does my insurance cover this?
We’d like to offer a different approach.
We believe that knowing the right questions to ask and the right people to call is the key to good home maintenance. We’ve built this channel because we want to use our combined years of experience to help you know how to care for your homes. Walls really do talk-you just have to know what to ask.

This is exactly the kind of guy homeowners HOPE will come to their home when they need an expert opinion. I’m a masonry contractor with 40 years experience and I would be proud to work with or for a guy like that. Nice job on the video.

What a breath of fresh air. Came across this video by accident but all of this is so sensible. We have been manufacturing crack repair materials and surveying broken masonry structures in the UK for almost 40-years and it is so nice to see someone else fully agreeing with our preaching. We supply some of our products to North America - but through local distributors so you will not know of us!
The crack under the window clearly indicates the masonry dropping to the right side - the front of the house. The crack gets wider towards the top and you would probably find the window frame has absorbed the further movement above the window - for now! For the top corner to have moved the supporting soil would have to move uphill - that's rare!! Drainage is almost always an issue - nice to see you have picked up on the drop in the driveway - most people don't notice such details. Contractors using perforated drainage? The level of stupidity is always improving! The most cost-effective solution would be to install a "Bar Flex" beam around the corner section and stitch the crack.
Well done - keep up the good work!

Thanks for the encouraging feedback @TargetFixings ! We try our best to evaluate the whole home and property to gain an understanding of what’s happening and not just look at the symptoms. We’d encourage you to check out our other videos, we think you’ll enjoy those, too! Thanks again!
