I have an ePBT set that has injection marks on every keycap it is pretty annoying. However, the injection is on the side of the keycaps facing away from you. So you won’t ever notice them during normal use. Still annoying though.
btw, PBT will shine over time, especially with extended use,. but not as fast ABS. I play games daily on my keyboards and I find that the keys that I use most on GMK keycaps will start shining at the 1-2 month mark, while my CRP set (PBT) took about 6-8 months. Of course the timing will be different for everyone, but its important to note that PBT will eventually shine and its just the matter of delaying the inevitable sadly.
I have some 3 sets of PBT keycaps, with 2 of those sets seeing daily use for nearly 5 years. There is absolutely zero shine on them. You must have purchased some cheap PBT keycaps.
@@MDL1023 my CRP, TMT, PBTFans, KAT, KDS, and NicePBT have all gotten some sort of minimal shine while using them for a couple months. Not noticeable, during normal use, but under certain lighting and in photos it definitely shows. PBT will eventually shine, that’s just how oils and plastics work. The rate at which it happens is significantly less than ABS (GMK/JTK/PBTFans’s ABS would have shined heavily within a month for me).
The ABS is definitely more smooth to the touch, the ABS might be marginally deeper, but I think it's too close to be significant, especially with the difference in price. I know there is an ABS set that is similar but lacks the unique modifiers here that is another decent option.
If you have RGB on, does the light shine through the plastic or not? Curious as I saw other PBT clones suffer from this issue where light shines through the keys in a unappealing way in another video
That's pretty standard. If you're looking for keycaps that do that you'll want shinethrough keycaps specifically, or you can get the completely transparent keycaps like keysterine
I hate that people are obsessed with calling sets with similar colors to GMK "GMK clones", GMK doesn't "own" colors. Worse, ABS keycaps in general are pretty bad, they're noisy little echo chambers and they wear down a lot quicker. 😡
@@pakorn9901 Yeah, this whole pre-purchase/drop fund thing is the one part of the early keeb enthusiast culture I can't wait to see disappear. Putting way too much financial trust in a company that has every reason to ditch and run after the 1 month charge reversal window ends.
Try not to get the identical clones, these clones are perfectly ok to buy imo. The font style, location, colorway, novelties, material and even the shape of the caps are different, it just looks similar to the original and I considered that as heavily influenced by the original design, not an exact replica.
No this is pretty consistent from what I've heard, gmk purple turned out much more reddish. If you see something different you're seeing a difference in lighting. Here you get at least a side by side comparison.
@@anonymousl5150 I actually bought the clones to see for myself and tbh. ITS REALLY GOOD. I checked with my own gmk mecha01 and goddamn its pretty close. The ones I got don't really look like the one shown in the video here but they are darker than the real gmk mecha01.

damn.. you know there are a decent amount of gmk sets that are in stock on drop or novelkeys. Though its been almost a year for my dracula r2.

You are mistaking the two, ABS shines and PBT doesn't.

This is one of those times when clone gets the alpha colors better than the actual GMK. The only real downside here is that GMK has darker black.

I got one of the first batches available. It's possible that something has changed between the batches, much like the darling clones.

I've seen the ABS ones; might pick them up, but I enjoy the novelties available with the PBT set.
