Examining the rules of pronunciation and grammar as it applies to the name יהוה.
Addendum #1: Another passage that is frequently used in the discussion of the name YHWH is "call upon his name" as can be seen in Psalm 105:1. The Hebrew word translated as "call" is קרא (QRA), which can mean "call," but is the same word meaning "meet." And as discussed in the video, the word "name" can mean "character," so the phrase "call upon his name," can also mean "meet with his character." Also note that the phrase following this in Psalm 105:1 is "make known his deeds among the people." This is a parallel (a common form of Hebrew poetry found throughout Psalms) with "meet with his character," much more so than "call upon his name."
Addendum #2: DasWORTanDICH called me on my claim that the character of YHWH can be summed up with the word "unity" (Good job DasWORTanDICH) In Zech 14:9, the end of the verse literally reads "and his name/character is one." The Hebrew for "one" more literally means "unit" or "unity." Throughout the Bible we see God working in unity with himself, even when his actions are in opposition to each other. For instance, in Genesis 1 we see God "creating," but in Genesis 6 we see God "destroying." Two opposites, but working together in unity to bring about order. In the desert God is seen as a cloud by day (bringing coolness and shade), but at night a cloud by fire (bringing heat and light). These two manifestations are in opposition to each other, but work together to protect the people.

When first hearing this interpretation (Kneel before you) many people have a problem with it, and I did at first as well. However, instead of looking at God as a mighty king sitting high on his throne, look at him more like a caring and loving father. When my children were small and they looked to me with a question, I would get down on my knee and look at them eye to eye. This is how I see the God in the Bible.

This was SO GOOD! I loved the ending where you emphasize the importance of knowing God’s character and having a deep relationship with him over knowing exactly how the Israelites pronounced his name in that time. His power is far beyond man’s spoken word. Also, how your explanation of the word for name also meaning character makes so much sense because it is also shown through the text as God renames people as he transforms them. So amazing how he works

This is true but when you have Satan trying to be exactly like our father or Jesus (Yashua), you all so how to pay attention to small things such as Rock and rock...they look the same but are not the upper case is our father, the lower case is Satan. That is just a mild example. People can get very much confused. After all the bible states the whole world will whore after Satan. "Meaning most of the world will follow Satan". Which is comes in as peace, peace, peace, and will do anything for you as long as you follow him. Where Christ our Lord will come in with vengeance. I also don't believe the rapture theory as in the bible it's states that are father is against it. (KJV) 1611 and in older KJV.

That's just a completely made-up name and is not the name of God. I would be careful about making up a false name if I were you. Isaiah 42:8 "I am Yehovah, that is My name: I will not give My glory to another" The Hebrew is Yehovah. The name is so sacred that when scribes copy the writings, they leave a blank space for every Yhvh. When they finish copying, they ritually cleanse themselves, then gather 10 priests to pray while they fill in the Yhvh for every blank space. God gave us His name as a memorial to all generations. Gen 3:15 The name He gave Moses was Yehovah. There is no w in Hebrew. It's a Hebrew vav, not an Arabic waw.

      @S.R.M. 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@steveclose219 The Yehovah deception is the reinventing of a misnomer. Jehovah is a euphonious name. Yehovah or Jehovah are hybrid counterfeit names for God. “In the early Middle Ages, when the consonantal text of the Bible was supplied with vowel points to facilitate its correct traditional reading, the vowel points for Adonai with the variation - a sheva (short ‘e’) with the first Yod [Y] of YHWH instead of the hataf-patah (short ‘a’) under the aleph of Adonai - was used for YHWH, thus producing the form YeHoWaH. When Christian scholars of Europe first began to study Hebrew they did not understand what this meant, and they introduced the hybrid name ‘Iehovah’, later ‘Jehovah’” (Encyclopedia Judaica, Vol. 7, p. 680). “Jehovah…What has been said explains…the consonants of Jehovah are always accompanied in the Hebrew text by the vowels of Adonai except in the cases in which Adonai stands in apposition to YHWH [the Tetragrammaton]: in these cases, the vowels of Elohim [or Eloah] are substituted. The use of a simple shewa (Hebrew vowel for ‘e’) in the first syllable of Jehovah, instead of the compound shewa in the corresponding syllable of Adonai and Elohim [0r Eloah], is required by the rules of Hebrew grammar governing the use of Shewa” (The Catholic Encyclopedia, Vol. VIII, p. 329). “The reading ‘Jehovah’ can be traced to the early Middle Ages and until lately was said to have been invented by Peter Gallatin [1518], confessor to Pope Leo X. Recent writers, however, trace it to an earlier date; it is found in Raymond Martini’s ‘Pugeo Fidei’ [1270]” (Encyclopedia Americana, Vol. 16, p. 8). Apparently, Peter Gallatin’s source for the erroneous name Jehovah was the book by Raymond Martini, ‘Pugeo Fidei’, in which Peter plagiarized. While studying the Hebrew Scriptures, the Dominican scholar monk Raymond Martini noticed the vowel points on the Tetragrammaton, the four consonant letters that make up the name of God, YHWH. He did not know of the Jewish practice of adding vowels from another Hebrew word to remind the readers in the synagogues not to say the name [HaShem] but to say, “Adonai,” instead. The first letter of God’s revealed name is Y, which corresponds to the Hebrew letter Yod. The second letter is a vowel of ‘a’, not ‘e’, called Qamets in Hebrew. The third letter is ‘H’, and corresponds to the Hebrew letter ‘H’, which spells YAH, and this means, “I AM.” Halleluyah means “Praise YAH!” The first syllable of God’s revealed name is YAH. “The saying of God, [‘HaYAH Ashar HaYAH’] ‘I AM Who I AM’ is surely connected with His name…YAH (Catholic Encyclopedia, Vol. 5, p. 743, 1967). The Jewish practice of adding vowels points to the Tetragrammaton (the four consonant letters of God’s Actual name YHWH) into the Hebrew Bible vowels borrowed from other words, such as Adonai, which caused YAHWAIH, and later modified to Yahweh. The vowels of Eloah added to YHVH caused the false name Yehovah, or Jehovah. The vowels of Elohim caused Yehovih (see Strong’s Dictionary of Bible Words #3069). Je-hovah, as with hovah means ruin, mischief, and calamity (see Strong’s #1942, #1943). All these false and idolatrous names: Yehovih, Yehovah, and Jehovah are counterfeits. The essential name of salvation is YAH according to the Prophet, “Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation’” (Isaiah 12:2 NKJV). "I AM" is YAH, and “this is the name which is above every name.” Christ told the people that He is YAH (John 8:58). Moses asked God for His name, and He said, “HaYAH Ashar HaYAH”, that is “I AM Who I AM”, and “I AM” is the name “YAH” (Exodus 3:14). We should know His revealed name YAH, and Praise YAH, and rightly so, “Halleluyah!” Language of any kind conforms to the revelation of God, not God’s revelation conforming to languages. The Apostle Paul on the road to Damascus was confronted by the Lord, and he asked, “Who are You Lord,” and the LORD answered in Hebrew, “I am YAHSHUA…” (Acts 26:12-15). Our Lord and Savior has “the name which is above every name.” The Apostle Paul gives testimony to that very fact: “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of YAHSHUA, every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that YAHSHUA the Christ is LORD, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11). Every tongue, and language, is to know this only revealed name for our very salvation, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
How do we know that we know the Lord?
Answer: When we hold to His revelations and commandments, or if not, we shall be cast out as being of lawlessness. The Lord said, in Matthew 7:21-23, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” This will be the excuse of many who justify the counterfeit name of Jesus!
What happens if I reject the name YAHSHUA for the counterfeit name Jesus?
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. ‘He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God’” (John 3:16-18).
Answer: If you do not believe in the name YAHSHUA, the name of the only begotten Son of God, you will stand condemned! Please, please, repent and believe in the name of our only Lord and Savior YAHSHUA! Halleluyah, Praise YAH, Praise YAHSHUA! To the Glory of God our Father. Amen.

@@steveclose219The Hebrew Scriptures are written with Hebrew words having no vowels but consonants only. The addition of Hebrew vowel points to the Tetragrammaton, that is the consonants of God’s name, according to the Jewish tradition, or practice, developed during the 3rd to 2nd centuries BCE, a Jewish practice to remind the readers in the synagogues not to say the name for fear of the Gentiles hearing it and possibly profaning God’s name. To keep the Gentiles from knowing the name of God and possibly profaning the name, the Tetragrammaton, that is YHWH, is written in Scripture, but not pronounced, and when translated into Greek, YHWH was replaced with Kurios, (Gr. for Lord). When translated into English, YHWH was written as “Lord” or as “LORD” in all caps. In the synagogue, when reading, substitute terms were spoken, such as Adonay, mainly, Eloah, or Elohim, to replace the pronunciation of the Divine name, and the vowels from these words placed onto the Tetragrammaton were used, but mainly to remind the reader to say, “Adonai.” YHWH if pronounced with the vowels of Eloah [e-o-a] that were added caused יְהֹוָה‎ the pronunciation of (Yəhōwāh) to appear in the text. With the Latin modification of the Tetragrammaton from YHWH to IHVH, Yehowah changed to Iehovah, and later to Jehovah with the addition of the letter ‘J’ in English added in the 17th century to artificially form the name “Jehovah.” This Jewish practice of hiding the name may have been founded on the Torah Law of Leviticus 24:16, which states, “And whoever blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to death. All the congregation shall certainly stone him, the stranger as well as him who is born in the land. When he blasphemes the name of the Lord, he shall be put to death.”
No one should doubt how seriously God takes His name. He commands us, “You shall not take the name of the Lord [YHWH] your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain” (Exodus 20:7). What greater vanity than to replace the revealed name of God with a substitute name transformed due to the tongue of man as if this could ever be legitimate. God’s name cannot be dictated by man, but only by His revelation. Man cannot change God’s name, nor can man name God.
It is widely assumed, as proposed by the 19th-century Hebrew scholar Wilhelm Gesenius, that the vowels of the title names-Adonai (Lord) and Elohim (Gods) and Eloah (God)-were inserted by the Masoretes to indicate that these substitutes were to be used as a reminder not to pronounce the name of God, but pronounce namely “Adonay,” or less common, “Elohim,” or “Eloah,” respectively, however, if pronounced they would have caused various pronunciations not reflecting God’s revealed name. For example, the vowels of “Adonay” [e-o-ay] added to YHWH caused YaHoWayH, shortened to YAHWEH. When יהוה Yod-Hey-Waw-Hey precedes or follows Adonai, the Masoretes placed the vowel points of Elohim [e-o-i] onto the Tetragrammaton, producing a different vocalization of the Tetragrammaton יֱהֹוִה‎ (Yĕhōvīh), which was read as Elohim. The name, or Tetragrammaton YHWH, with the Hebrew vowels of Elohim causing “Yehovih,” which was, actually found in the Hebrew Scriptures (the Bible) up to 305 instances יֱהֹוִה‎ (Jehovih see Strong’s #3069). None of these variations, YAHWEH, Yehovih, or Jehovah/Yehovah, were ever meant to stand for God’s actual name, with the possible exception of YAHWEH, which has YAH, but the other names Yehovih and Jehovah, or Yehovah are devoid of the true name-prefix {YAH} holding the essential meaning of God’s revealed name. While God has many titles, such as God, Lord, the Great King, the Almighty, EL Shaddai, the Rock, etc., He must surely have a name revealed by Him, a personal name, a name that expresses His being and nature, for example, YAHAWAH, which means, “I AM Everpresent,” as revealed to Moses, and when He lived among us in the first century, according to the angel His name is “YAHSHUA,” which means, “I AM Salvation.”

You are forgetting that over the conquests of Israel such as the Assyrian Conquest, the Hebrews had lost their language many times. And the fact is that the modern Vav was originally a Waw. Yod Heh Waw Heh are the closest vowels we have to the original term. However, even at that, it would be hard to explain because the Hebrews never had a “good” perspective on vowels; meaning the ancient Hebrew speakers didn't include any vowels. I'd be careful with these false accusations. Praise the Lord, your Father.

I think both is equally important, the right pronunciation and the character who hold or owns the name. It is also written in Acts that there is no other name written for which mankind can be save. Elohim also said that He has a name that must be remember from generation to generation. So it follows that to remember is to have it right both character and the pronunciation.

To me, the character of the author of that which depends (for its material and translational preservation) on those among the living who are the only image bearers of God's character (or nature/essence/substance) in this realm of existence is all that God would expect of us on this issue.
For that reason alone it makes more sense to remember God's character than it does to remember how to write, pronounce or mention a name as a name is merely a label that is subject to change and that one would need to remember especially for those of us who are illiterate or incapable of speaking or vocalizing thoughts, words, actions, or mere identity labels or names)

Yah is a form of His name, yes. Hallelu Yuh is more correct because of the rules of grammar. The Yh at the end has a petach under the Y which pronounces it more like between Yuh and Yah. Grammar also changes the pronunciation of Yah to YE WHEN his whole name is spoken. The name is pronounced Yehovah as the w is Arabic, not Hebrew. It's a vav, not a waw. There is no w in Hebrew. Yah is from HaYa Hoveh Yihyah (He who was, He who is, He who will be)

And I love the fact that the word "name" in more correctly translated "character." This practice of trying to place the emphasis on the name of God ~ as a point of salvation ~ rather than stating the importance that we have the character of God, in word and deed!

In my family (syrian jews, portuguese&spanish jews and moroccan jews) they only say Adonai. But they used to say that the pronounce was Yaowe, with the last 'e' being very weak. Almost pronounced Yaw.
They used to say that this name can cure diseases and bring peace if you think about the pronounce in your heart. But could also bring psychiatric and spiritual 'problems' if you used it without respect.
But nobody is 100% sure about the pronounce. I think this pronounce is the oldest.

@@whidoineedthis The Yehovah deception is the reinventing of a misnomer.
Amen.

There is no power in the physical sound of words or letters. Everything ties back to TRUTH and FAITH in that truth. Thus the name is the sum of the attributes of God. Leningrad Codex: Jeremiah 30:10 & Psalm116:6

So according to the grammar rules without vowel pointing the name would be
Ya-Hu-WaH, Yod Hay Waw Hay. There are many names in the Strong's concordance that end or begin with Ya-HuW like Yeshayahuw, Yermiyahuw, Eliyahuw, and Matithyahuw. Strong's H3050 Yod Hay, YaH. Also Strong's H3091
Yod Hay Waw Shin Waw Ayin, Ya-HuW-Shu-WaH.
Anyway how can we spell a Hebrew word using English letters. English and Hebrew are two totally opposed languages and have no relation to each other. All that is being done using English letters is to try and get the same sound in Hebrew for English speaking people but this is never going to be totally accurate. The two languages are as far apart from each other as East is to the West. Shalom.

Interesting perspective. I'm with you on the pronunciation issue. No one really knows. We're talking about a name given to a peoples who just walked out of 400yrs in Egypt. I have my suspicions though after hearing the Israeli archeologist read the inscription on the signet ring of Hezekiah that was found on a Jerusalem dig not so long ago.
Anyhow, I lean more to the notion that God was saying His name is what he does. To be is to do, so to speak. Such as I am your Savior, I am your Deliverer, I am your Redeemer, etc. Wooden statues do nothing but a living God does.

@@k-dogg9086 The Yehovah deception is the reinventing of a misnomer.
Amen.

So one night before I went to bed I asked him what his true name was, I explain that I was confused and there are so many names. I fell asleep the next morning as I woke up I heard a whisper audibly say Yehovah. Definitely Y sound no J. I was Catholic then so I didn't even know this name until I heard it. God bless!

+GodsWill777777 "had a true repentance"??? Did you know that the word translated as repentance does not mean 'to feel regret for sins/crimes'. It means to change your mind. Change your mind about what? Do you really think that the all mighty, righteous, moral and perfectly good god, gives a hoot about how his moniker is pronounced? What a pedantic god you have if you do. Would you be more insulted if someone pronounced your moniker wrong, or if they slandered your character? Look at all the religions on the earth, they aren't the same, therefore they teach different things about god and that includes a different character for him. If the characters are different, then some are incorrect as not all can be true. This means that his character is being slandered. That is an undeniable fact. I'm sorry to say, but what you heard was yourself and your own subconscious, you have no proof otherwise. Learn to be aware of your own mind. Try concentrating on his character and see the difference it makes....or remain in your mindset and take offence to everything I said. If god is going to talk to you, there will be a reason for it and it will be in defence of his name. Good day

He is the one that confused the tongues and languages, after all, so if you say Yah-hu-ah or Ye-ho-va He knows you mean him XOXO. You could always use the name Jesus (Ya'shua) used and that is Father.... it depicts who He is... the Hebrew word for Father is Abba..... I like that one the best. So when you pray to your Abba, He knows you mean him.

In biblical times, and even today many Israelites, and prophets had "Yahu" on the end of their names. "AH" is the breath of life, therefore Yahuah makes the most sense to me. This is the first time I've seen a video done by a believer in Jesus/Yeshua which is so right on. Even following known rules of Hebrew grammar and pronunciation, there are several logically plausable pronunciations, though some are more likely than others. Don't recall if you specificed this, but the letter Waw can be pronounced both as a consonant and as a vowel at the same time, which only increases the possibilities. ...and am pretty sure you didn't mention mapiq, cases in which the letter Heh is pronounced as a consonant and is also the last letter in a syllable, something that never happens in English. Regardless, was delighted to find such an accurate video for once, and especially the part about the importance of His Name being more one of the importance of the One 'behind' the Name, and not any specific pronuncation, though it'd be great if we knew exactly what that was... but again, that's not the critical issue. Great job!

The most interesting is the time of the Tetragram problem. This problem arose practically at the moment of Christ's resurrection. Servants of satan got mad. The result was the fight against the Septuagint LXX - the removal of prophecies about the Messiah and the physical persecution of the apostles. It was added to the fire by the Jerusalem destruction in 70 AD This destruction was hard evidence of God's disapproval. The Synagogue of satan has begun a fierce battle with God, which continues to this day. One of the main elements is the false Tetragrammaton.

@@2besavedcom-7 The Yehovah deception is the reinventing of a misnomer.
Amen.

Jeff A. Benner, I'm sticking with "Yahweh" ("9:25").
When I read passages in the OT wherein appears "the LORD" or, for that matter, "GOD," both of which all capitals forms indicate that the Tetragrammaton is what was there in the original, I often now read it as "Yahweh" & I feel His Presence & it is good enough for me. As recently as this morning I read with the mentions of "Yahweh" Psalm 113, the passage that He had told me earlier He wanted me to read today.
And I teach my children that they can either read it as is in the English of the KJV, i.e. as "the LORD" or as "GOD," or they can say the name "Yahweh." Either way is fine, as long as, for truth's sake, it is remembered & considered that it was the Tetragrammaton ("YHWH") that occurred in such places originally. But it does stand out to me how it was customary for, say, David to address the Almighty by His personal name than by mere titles & therefore I have been preferring more to say "Yahweh" when I see the aforesaid words in all capitals.
This recognition also helps in proving that the NT writers most certainly did recognize Jesus as Yahweh, for, among other proofs, including their own clear declarations otherwise (rf. 1 Timothy 3:16; et al), several OT passages that had the Almighty's personal name "Yahweh" (indicated, as stated already, by "the LORD" or "GOD" in OT English versions of the Bible) are alluded to or quoted with reference to Christ Jesus of Nazareth! A notable example that comes to mind is Isaiah 40:3, which passage is referred to in, say, Mark 1:3 & this to be considered along with verses 7-8 to show that John the Baptist was cognizant of the fact that Jesus was far, far more than merely his cousin, according to the flesh, but totally his God, Yahweh of Abraham, Isaac, & Jacob! Notice that this is inevitably the conclusion even though the KJV translators or revising publishers chose to make Isaiah 40:3's "the LORD" as "the Lord" in Mark 1:3!
This brings me to my closing point. Let's say a person gets every iota pertaining to the rendering of the Tetragrammaton's consonants & vowels accurate, but the same person does not accept that Christ Jesus is Himself the One to whom the OT personal name referred & yet is associated with in His NT name (which, by the way, Moses' successor Joshua typified) & thus also rejects that He is the Only Saviour, that person is a walking spiritual dead whose spirit will descend to subterranean incarceration in Hell to await the Great White Throne Judgment & shall not experience the blessed eternal life He has in store for those who confess & live in tandem with the truth that He is "the Head of all principalities and powers," "the Blessed and Only Potentate," "the Propitiation," "the Saviour"!

    • @MrKlaudiosable
      @MrKlaudiosable 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

oh no ? so then why does the name Adam come from the word Adamah which means soil in hebrew? Adam called his wife "Eve"(Hava) because she was the mother of all livings. The root word of hava is "Hai" which means life.
When Adam saw the woman for the first time he said in Genesis 2:23. Then the man said, "This one at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. This one shall be called Woman (isha) for from man (ish) she was taken.
Almost all names in the Old testament have a meaning in hebrew.
Noah means "rest" for example. Ham means hot. Nimrod means rebel.
God called the firmament "heavens" and the dry "land"
God called the light "day" and the darkness "night"
Do these verse imply the creation of a new word ? If so, in what language ?
Genesis (2:19) Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them.
That does not tell us much but in Hebrew animal names are descriptive of their characteristics.
It could not have been hebrew as it sounds unfamiliar to us (as if this was a factor to determine the truth) but you would not be very far.

Klaudiosable , language can not remain this last, there are many semitic languages have the same roots you mentioned like arabic. Adam from adamah or adeem
Eve (hawwa) from hayy or hayah means living or life. Mar'ah means woman has the same root of mar' means man. Ham in arabic is Hami, means hot or firing. But not all the other name, yes, they have hibrew origin, but Know that hebrew is semitic language borrowed as the other semitic languages are borrowed from the mother semitic language.
Abraham spoke aramaic(or syrianic), the old testement says all the prophets from all different terms has spoken hebrew as all the people did, and that is impossiple to believe all the world for thousands of years had spoken the same language, Egyptian spoke not hebrew,.nor the babylonians did, only hebrews speak hebrew

+Klaudiosable probably a form of Sanskrit...& Hebrew is riddled with Sanskrit similar words which mean the same in both. Some Hebrews write YHWH as YahVah, which would sound something like "Yahevah" in Sanskrit. The rig Veda has references to Yahvah as Agni, the Fire aspect of the "One God", & YHWH revealed himself to Moshe (Moses) in the "burning bush". The Scriptural references to YHWH are full of 7's (spirits, stars, Candles...etc) Agni likewise 7 (Sprits, Limbs, tongues of flame(candles), rays...etc), Sheeva (Shiva) in Hebrew means 7. Religious imperialists like to think that YHWH revealed himself ONLY to "their guy" i.e. Moses, Muhammad, Yehoshva...take your pick. It's preposterous of course...but it is a bigots' meal ticket...that's why they peddle that crap.

Ecumenical unity is and abomination. Why is it that the approved name of the Papacy is used along with many other pagan words like God and Lord plus others which take away the key to knowledge the name. It was Yahuwshuwa that said this to the religious teachers of his time and he taught his followers the name. Hiding the pronunciation of the name as unutterable brings his name to naught or ruin by never saying it. This is in direct opposition to what Torah teaches and is a tradition of the religious leaders as it was in Yahuwshuwa's time. They stoned Stephenos for speaking the name in public and they had the Yahuwshuwa ha'Mashiach executed for the same reason. Shalom.

Sounds loglical for the unlearned. Fact is the Isaiah scroll (oldest of the dead sea scrolls ) has YAHUAH's name spelled out phonetically. Secondly 67 times in scripture YAHUAH says to call upon His name. Many times He says His name is YAHUAH. It makes no sense for Him to say His character is YAHUAH. Finally YAHUAH is not a Hebrew name it is the Creator's name that He chose. His name existed before any Hebrew or anyone else that ever existed. The earliest recorded of a human using YAHUAH's name is Eve. Adam an Eve lived long before any Hebrew existed. There is also much archeological evidence outside of scripture that gives evidence to the pronunciation YAHUAH. Scripture itself testifies to the pronunciation YAHUAH by the many Hebrew names that either begin with or end with YAHU. Of course all these Hebrew names have been changed to obscure this fact from the world. Perfect modern day example would be the prime minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu.

All we can go on is the scant evidence available and the tradition of those who have spoken the langauge since ancient times. What matters is the *meaning* of God's name and the fact that Yahweh or Jehovah requires us to use it in our lives and prayers. It is a necessity, not just an option or luxury. (Acts 2:21 "And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of YHWH shall be saved.")
I find it a disgrace how most translations have removed this holy name out of their publications.
Personally I prefer Jehovah over Yahweh or any other pronunciation, because of the very specific reason you've mentioned: unity. This pronunciation has been used for centuries and has therefore been the most commonly known way of pronunciating God's name in the majority of (at least) our Western world. So if it doesn't really matter that much, why not use that pronunciation for the sake of uniting as many people as possible? That's my reasoning, at least.
Besides, I never understood why this is such a huge issue for so many people. My personal name, which is ironically Christiaan, is also being pronunciated in many different ways depending on where I am or who's saying it (friends and family simply call me Chris). The only thing I care about is that people USE my name and not just call me 'man' or 'sir' everytime they see me. And if my name had an actual personal and cultural meaning of importance, I'd want people to know and respect it.
But then again, I bet that the same people who made such a fuss over the pronunciation are the same guys who were having huge debates over the 'dilemma' whether to call God a 'he' or a 'she'. Pointless, isn't it? And the said thing is that none of those people truly grasped the character of God and never took the effort to truly know him or follow his teachings.
They truly missed the target of uniting themselves and their acts with YHWH, which is the definition of the word 'sin' (chat·taʼth′) in a nutshell, like an arrow missing its target.

Fast forward.. Through social media & since the lockdown, I’ve noticed many young people enforcing the pronunciation of the name of our Heavenly Father and Jesus/Yeshua. But as Yahushua & Yahuah.
To me, this was brand new. Especially since I know even Israelis, with their accents, pronounce Y’shua. At 1st I was annoyed. But definitely sought more into it.
    I still say Yeshua. ☺️
My mom for years.. gets very offended when she hears people say Jesus.
She was the one who found the messianic congregation in the first place. After mildly practicing Judaism, prior to knowing our Savior/Messiah/Mashiach
I would explain to her, through teachings, cultures and translations.. Specifically the Bible in English, Jesus is the accepted Name. And encouraged her to be grateful they have a relationship. Period.
Through the foundation of our belief, it is Yeshua, to us.
Now I see people are pressing Yahushua. But most of them do not know the Hebrew Language, and are basing it on threads on the internet. (Not to say you cannot learn language that way, just saying).
As far as I’m concerned, God knows exactly where our heart is, and what our intents are, regardless of our pronunciation.
Blasphemy is the unforgivable sin, so as long as we are holding His Name with reverence, praise, honor and respect, I do not believe our Creator, , Who literally & purposely, confused the languages, would judge us on how we pronounce It.
Thank you for sharing this. Very interesting & informative.

Here is YAHUAH's character stated by Himself:
    Isaiah 42:8
"I am YAHUAH, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images.
Scripture tells us the creator's name is YHWH. Scripture also tells us His name is also YH in the short form (ex. Psalm 68:4). The pronunciation of YH has always been made known. YH is pronounced YAH, as in hallelujah. Hallelujah is simply two Hebrew words pushed together and means praise YAH. The old testament manuscripts also recorded 100 Hebrew names that either begin with, or end with YHW. In every case, without fail YHW is always pronounced YAHU; it is never pronounced YAHW or YAHV. Add an H to the end of YHW (pronounced YAHU) and you get YHWH (pronounced YAHUAH). YAHUAH has preserved the pronunciation of His name within His own Word, leaving man without excuse.
Placing the grammar rules (doctrines) of men over the testimony of scripture still leaves man without excuse. YAHUAH is written by some as YaHuWah, I presume to have it comply with man's grammar rules.

How do you know that YH is pronounced "yah?" How do you know the Hebrew word הללויה is pronounced "halleluyah?" The original Hebrew did not have any vowels. The vowel pointings that are added to Hebrew words in the Bible were created only 1000 years ago by the Masorites. If you are going to accept the a, e and u vowels in Yah and Halleluyah, then you are trusting a manmade tradition. How would we know how "halleluyah" was originally pronounced? If you take away the vowels created by the masorites and only look at the Hebrew letters in the Bible, you have HLLWYH. Maybe this was originally pronounced Helleloyeh? May be YH was originally pronounced Yeh?

    • @richardthomas6602
      @richardthomas6602 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Jeff A. Benner The word hallelujah is pronounced the same in many different languages around the world. Vowel pointing began in Babylon during the Jews captivity there. There are numerous ancient Jewish writings from that time period. The Babylon Talmud was written there and is still used today. To think the Jews maintained their Scriptures and Talmud in written form and taught them to their people without being able to pronounce their own language is ludicrous.

    • @ancienthebreworg

I have been looking for evidence of an earlier vowel pointing system, but unsuccesful. What is your evidence for a vowel pointing system during the Babylonian captivity?

Jeff A. Benner The Babylon Talmud. Look at Mark Manning's video, "restoring the Creator's name" on his you-tube channel - messenger of the name. He does a great job of laying out the historical evidence. you will have to wade past a bit of "church scolding" to get to it, but otherwise an excellent presentation.

I watched the video "Restoring The Creator's Name: Ha'shem Revealed." Even though I didn't agree with everything he said, It was a pretty good video. But he didn't mention anything about vowel pointings being used in Babylon.

YHWH is God's name in Hebrew. Because no one used Hebrew language and use English in modern day, it is translated to "Jehovah" it can be translated to other language such as 耶和华 "Yehehua" in chinese, 여호와 "Yeohowa" in korean and many more. In other words, it is still the same but different language

Except it costs you nothing to say "Yahwe" because your language has all the sounds for a somewhat accurate pronunciation.

lovelysophy, what you said here was apparently from "4 years ago," but, nonetheless, I'll respond for there is need to respond to acknowledge what of what you said is true & legitimate & also to straighten out what needs to be straightened out, for truth's sake & the sake of us all who genuinely desire to learn realities & not fallacy.
I appreciate that you acknowledged the reality of that each language has its own rules. I would imagine you would agree with my elaboration of the point that, while some languages do share particular rules with others, especially those that are of the same language family, there are nevertheless differences in some way or the other between even the most similar languages & there are some differences between particular languages which can make the target language's (i.e. the language being translated into) translation product not seem to be truly reflective of the item of the source language that is being translated. In fact, it is this latter idea I think you most wanted to articulate.
So, yes, I agree with this line of thinking & it is actually the line of thinking I use when combating the fallacy of some individuals who & their groups which caterwaul that the name of the Messiah, Immanuel, the Incarnation of Yahweh, namely the name "Jesus," is incorrect because, among other ridiculous objections of theirs, the letter "J" didn't exist in Hebrew & didn't exist in English either until in recent centuries. I often use this line of thinking with the fact that He Himself, who, by the way, created linguistics & made the brains & breath of humanity to be able to form languages, anticipated that His name would be taking on various forms according to the languages His gospel & related teachings would be translated into when He said, "GO YE [i.e. His faithful disciples who were also now His missionaries, which is essentially what an 'apostle' is, 'one who is sent,' so a 'missionary'] therefore [see the immediately previous verse wherein He declares that He is the Almighty & thus is commissioning them accordingly in verse 19], and TEACH ALL NATIONS, BAPTIZING THEM IN THE NAME [singular & contextually is 'Jesus,' as can be seen by not only what was practiced by the Lord's apostles in the NT's 'The Book of the Acts of the Apostles,' but also in the documentation of this same event & speech in the other synoptic NT accounts of the Lord Jesus & His gospel -- rf. Luke 24:46-47 & Mark 16:15-17]....TEACHING THEM [i.e. the 'all nations'] TO OBSERVE ALL THINGS WHATSOEVER I HAVE COMMANDED YOU: and, lo [i.e. 'see' or 'observe'], I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world [obviously 'as Spirit,' not 'Physical Form']...." (Matthew 28:19-20). And I sometimes, as the Spirit leads, come in with Psalm 117 as well to emphasize that His desire has always been for not just the Israelis to worship Him, but also other ethnic groups, other ethnic groups who descended from the two other sons of Noah, &, this being the case, back to the line of thinking I have been championing, His desire also being that His Holy Writ & declarations be rendered understandable to the speakers of languages other than Hebrew & even to the point of translating Hebrew (& now Greek, the language of the NT, Greek having been the language He ordained to be the target language for the rendering of the Old Testament writings & His declarations back in the 1st Century while He walked amongst humanity in His Human Manifestation) into other languages, into foreign languages. Relatedly, His use of kainos glossa, "new tongues" (Mark 16:17), in His NT plan of salvation has this same desire of His as a reason for it -- He loves all ethnicities & desire all ethnicities to obey & worship Him as Creator-Saviour! So, yeah, I often bring in the "kainos glossa" aspect to emphasize that His international intentions anticipate & even demand that other languages come into play that make His name that is "Yeshuah" in the Hebrew take on other forms such as "Iesous" (Greek), "Jesús" (Spanish, wherein the "J" is pronounced with an "H" sound), "Jesus" (English), *"Yesu" (Swahili), et al.
Now, with all this said & amidst what is said is my statement of agreement with your particular line of thinking about different languages with different rules nonetheless rendering each a product that looks & sounds different than the original but that most importantly retains meaning & should be considered as the same by who or what is referred to by the original & somewhat differing linguistic forms, I have to note though that when Isakaldaz Wulfazizsunus noted about "1 year ago" that the truth of the aforesaid line of thinking doesn't give credibility at all to your claim that "Jehovah" is an accurate translation of the Tetragrammaton (the four Hebrew consonants in the OT which represent the Almighty's name, which, incidentally, remains in His NT name, namely "Jesus," which means "Yahweh is the Saviour") rather than is, say, "Yahweh," Isakaldaz Wulfazizsunus is correct. Isakaldaz Wulfazizsunus was also correct to note that the languages you cite as target languages by which to render the translation of the Tetragrammaton &, for that matter, other target languages for the same purpose also have adequate graphemes by which to produce linguistic forms similar to "Yahweh" & not just "Jehovah."
So, therefore, it comes down to a matter of preference, you preferring to go with "Jehovah" & its equivalents in other languages & that preference due to what legitimate reasons you believe you have for doing so (perhaps the KJV's rendering of Isaiah 12:2, etc, influences you to be positioned the way you are?) & others preferring, like I myself, to go with "Yahweh" due to what legitimate reasons are believed to be had for doing so, this position being my position though I do stick to & recommend the KJV Bible over all the alternatives & have very defendable reasons for doing so as well.
Yet these differences do not constitute a "Heaven or Hell" issue, not unless a person makes it so to the detriment of his or her own soul by violating Matthew 12:30 & telling people that the people cannot be saved if the people adhere to any one of the two & not utterly reject the other. What matters is that the meaning of the Tetragrammaton is retained, namely "He is," which emphasizes His existence & of course all that He is in character & attributes extant in His Being, & also that a relationship is entered into with Him becoming one's Heavenly Father & Saviour by that one becoming "born again" (rf. John 3:3-7 & Matthew 18:3) & learning more & more about & being transformed more & more into His character (rf. Matthew 11:28-30 & 2 Peter 3:18). Yeah, the name He intends for everybody to focus on now & forever, anyhow, is His name which contains not only His OT nomen as expressed by the Tetragrammaton but also what He has been, is, & always will be: JESUS, which means "[Whatever the Tetragrammaton is to be rendered into with Hebrew vowels & I believe is 'Yahweh,' albeit, as noted earlier, this is not a 'Heaven or Hell' issue in & of itself] is Saviour"! So, basically, honor His name "Yeshua," "Jesus," *"Yesu" (Ghanaian, Hausa, et al), *"Jasus" (Mirandese), *"Jezus" (Polish, Slovenian, et al), *"Giêsu" (Vietnamese), *"Iso" (Uzbek), or whatever form it legitimately takes in any other language & He will be pleased! As it is written, "....THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH....NEITHER IS THERE SALVATION IN ANY OTHER: FOR THERE IS NONE OTHER NAME UNDER HEAVEN GIVEN AMONG MEN, WHEREBY WE MUST BE SAVED" (Acts 4:11 & 12). (Consult also Philippians 2:5-11.)

The letter u ultimately comes from the Phoenician letter waw by way of the letter y. See the letter y for details.
During the late Middle Ages, two forms of 'v' developed, which were both used for its ancestor 'u' and modern 'v'. The pointed form 'v' was written at the beginning of a word, while a rounded form 'u' was used in the middle or end, regardless of sound. So whereas 'through' and 'excuse' appeared as in modern printing, 'have' and 'upon' were printed 'haue' and 'vpon', respectively. The first recorded use of 'u' and 'v' as distinct letters is in a Gothic alphabet from 1386, where 'v' preceded 'u'. Printers eschewed capital 'U' into the 17th century and the distinction between the two letters was not fully accepted by the French Academy until 1762.[3]

A letter sound can change in a single generation - ask your children to say a common English word, then (if you have) ask a grandchild to pronounce the same word and you might get small/ subtle variation
It’s the same rules as whisper down the lane and it’s quite an extraordinary phenomenon that humans do this not just with language but in all forms of behaviors

    Hello Mr. Benner.
I have only recently found your videos, and have found them very informative, detailed and interesting. I have not formally studied Hebrew, but have only recently started looking for resources on my own to try and learn at my own pace, so I was happy to find your videos, and your website. I really like the way that you have shown grammatical and pronunciation rules and, especially, how you have shown examples of how the letters make the word mean what it does. Fascinating! Thank you for the time and energy you have put into this study in attempting to make real sense of the ancient Hebrew language.
I have heard a little about these rules of dividing a word into syllables from a friend who is a recent convert to Judaism, but his knowledge is still quite limited.
My question for you concerning the topic of this video is why can't the Name be broken up as "Ya-Hu-Wah"? This would be the configuration Cv-Cv-CvC... Would that be a possible pronunciation?
Again, thank you for your time, and keep up the good work!
    Wayne

    That was excellent! Thank You!
It's His 'CHARACTER' that is to be published abroad, and us humans have made such a divisive mistake of making all about something it never was..
By assuming that we have discovered (THE NAME), some have gone so far as to say, that if people aren't teaching our particular version of that name, then they are ignorant, in error, and even heretical! 🤔😣
In assuming we know the name, and by creating these divisions, we haven't realised that we have failed to fulfill the command to, 'publish His (character) abroad', because His character is most definitely not divisive!
His character we can agree on! 😁🎉🎊
He is holy! Loving! Righteous! Merciful! Faithful! Patient! Trustworthy.. Etc etc
I will post this video whenever I see that well worn argument come up, with hopes that some may hear, and take up the command to proclaim His 'character' instead of squabbling over how we believe His name is to be pronounced! 😊
This has made me so peaceful! Thank You!✌️💛
