    It's my car Thomas modelled this on, and now the model is mine too! Thanks so much Thomas, the result is great and it's wonderful to see the techniques you've used to make it so accurate to the full sizer.

      Thanks so much Sean and I'm really glad you liked it. I look forward to going for a spin in the full sizer some day! 😁

      Haha. Yeah, I had a bit of a practice on a plastic spoon to start with. I will definitely use that again on my next road car build.

    Outstanding result Thomas! The best gifts are ones someone makes especially for you. I’m sure he will love it. I see the weather in your spray booth is good; it’s been raining in mine. It also alternates between to HOT or too humid! Got to get that control fixed. Keep up the good work! 🚗

      Thanks a lot Richard. Yeah, he only got the car last year and I'd wanted to make the Aoshima kit so this seemed like a good idea. We have been having some great weather in the spray booth - hopefully I'll get some paint down on my Ferrari later.

      Thanks Hugh - you may be right. I believe the ride height on the 1974-1980 rubber bumper version was higher so possibly the internals are based on that?

    Thanks for this very helpful video. Two comments: (1) I owned a 1968 MGB Mk II in Australia, and it did not come with headrests. (2) Where can I get that very useful tool that you use to hold the bodywork whilst painting?

    • @BOABModels
      @BOABModels  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad you found this so helpful. The car is based on my uncle's one as I built it for his birthday and his does have headrests so I made some!
      The tool is the Tamiya paint spray stand and it's incredibly useful. www.tamiya.com/english/products/74522stand/index.htm

    What type of glue did you use to attach small parts to the body, such as door handles? I painted the body already, but not sure whether humbrol liquid poly is Ok because it is designed to weld 2 pieces together

    • @BOABModels
      @BOABModels  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used either foam safe super glue or super glue gel. Either way it was very, very sparing. White glue such as PVA or school glue would work also although the cure time is a lot slower. I hope that helps

    I had a mustard yellow 73 MGB that had the chrome bumpers but had the 74 rims that weren't spokes. I would like to build the 68 version as a 73 since it is similar to the 68 however I was wondering how I could get the rims included in the 74 version? Not sure if there is an aftermarket product. Also, I need to make it left hand drive and am thinking I may need to manipulate the model dash in some way. Also, trying to figure out if Tamiya has a mustard yellow that I could try to match. Alot of questions and appreciate any help.

    • @BOABModels
      @BOABModels  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the message and I've done some research for you - I think it's Rostyle wheels you are after. I had a look at the '74 version of this kit and it looks like it does come with the chrome bumpers as well as the later rubber ones, so you could use that.
      As for the dashboard, all I could suggest is very carefully cutting out both sides and swapping them over. Might be too much to ask. It's worth checking sites like USCP as they do aftermarket resin parts.
      For the paint, not sure about a Tamiya TS mustard but look at auto paints - I find some list on eBay where they will make a spray can if you have the paint code.
      I hope that helps and good luck!

      They are very old cars now - I think my uncle likes to be able to tinker around with his MGB to fix stuff. It's not something you can really do with modern cars.
