Ex pro fighter here. The impact feels so different in each case. The boxing gloves have way more concussive impact. It feels more like a "boingg" hit like being hit with a big heavy sack of dough. Getting hit with small gloves is more of a sharp shock. Like being hit with a baton. The boxing gloves are much more likely to knock you out, but the small gloves do more damage. The boxing gloves are also much more likely to give you a solid impact whereas smaller gloves are almost always glancing blows. Think of it like when the boxing glove hits you it's impact is spread over a large area BUT it means more of the force is transferred to the target rather than dissipating
The force is equal but with a bigger glove the force will land on a bigger surface. With a smaller glove the force is concentrated on a smaller surface wich is more dangerous.
Also to add to this - impulse. Same principle as safety in cars (collissions) since the larger padding takes some more time to compress it distributes the force over time. It's stupid to talk about force to begin with (it's equal regardless of glove) but, as you say, it is distributed differently with the different gloves - in time and over different areas.
Once on MMA training I was told boxing glove can be more dangerous than bare fist or MMA glove. I remember it is supposed to have something to do with softness of a striking area. Knuckles have the hardest and the smallest striking area and this causes the energy to "shatter" on the surface of a skull, causing bruises, cuts and bone fractions. And in boxing gloves, thanks to the softness of striking area, more of this energy gets delivered inside the head, causing more damage to the brain (again - I'm just saying what I was taught). Plus, I'm not sure if fast K.O-s are safer than multiple strikes. Not long ago a young boxer in my country got K.O-ed in his first professional fight. He died in the hospital.
GL said it all. Boxing gloves equal more damage to the brain, when knuckles or mma gloves distribue some of the force to skin and bone. Thats why there are so many deaths in boxing and almost none in mma
The difference is in the kinetic delivery and distribution, which I don't know if they got into or not... But what it ACTUALLY means is that full boxing gloves delivery significantly more blunt-force/concussive impact compared to MMA gloves more localized force. So, while MMA gloves will be noticably more effective at dermal trauma, as well as being more likely to damage skeletal structures (due to having a finer "point" of impact), you're far more likely to experience *concussive* damage getting hit by a boxing glove due to the larger surface area and general blunt force impact. What that REALLY means is that MMA gloves are more likely to bust you up, while boxing gloves are more likely to rattle your brain (causing more long-term damage), despite the measurable force being relative/having a negligible difference.
@@juncearyoutube3336 yeah, that's why one of the fighter's with the most Ko's at the highest level in MMA (for example, Rumble Johnson) has 18 Ko/TKO and let's say Tyson Fury, has 22, or Deontay Wilder has 41, and Canelo has 30+, and that's not even mentioning the hardest hitter's ever in boxing, like george Foreman, Mike Tyson, Rocky Marciano, Etc. So No, Ko's in MMA are not that common really, to be fair, i think that submissions are more common than Ko's, and a huge amount of fight's go to the judge's scorecards, much more commonly than in boxing
Dumbest test ever... the major difference is in how the hands are taped. Having done both I can tell you that you can hit a lot harder with boxing gloves because your hand and wrist are like in a cast. The tape under mma gloves is much less and less on the wrist. Your brain won't let you hit bare knuckle as hard as with a cast.

Well, why would they test a machine if machines aren't the ones that throw punches? Also, if they use a machine, they'd know how much force there would be behind that "punch" because the researchers alone would have to calibrate it, so that would make it pointless. To get the best results, they have to use the truest subjects i.e. a professional fighter.
lol.... you just argued against yourself... exactly. they would calibrate it... therefore.... they would know EXACTLY how much the force imparted would be and the impulse derived from the mass x velocity divided by time.... and all they would have to do is put different gloves on it..

Larger size gloves spread out the area the force is applied to. The size of the impact area is very important. Not just the Force. That's why scientists use PSI.
and also how long it takes to disperse that force. hitting your head on a wheel or an airbag are very different things, even if your head is carrying the same energy
You can see at the end with the comparison that he went through with the hook more when he punched with the boxing gloves. They should have done at least 5-10 punches with each and gotten an average, because what if one of these punches was an outlier, like what it on average the bare fisted one would actually get 100 higher but he wasn't used to punching the heavy bag bare fisted. It doesn't seem right that an MMA glove with 4 ounces for pros or 6 ounces for amateur would be give the same padding as a boxing glove with 10 or 12 ounce gloves, and I've used a variety of boxing gloves myself and the lighter ones tend to hit harder, and bare fisted obviously felt like it had the largest impact.

with the MMA glove you have far better contact with what you are hitting. Meaning, your hand has closer contact to the face, body, etc. Due to the boxing glove providing more protection, for the boxer when punching, together with hand wraps this enables him/her to hit harder than they would with MMA gloves. Purely down to the protection of the hand. In order to be as realistic as possible this, the hand wraps need to be factored in, and may be why there is only slightly more force in the MMA punching power. Also, the MMA glove is not designed, or suitable for heavy bag use so this test is effectively bunk. A sparring bob punching bag stand would be best suited, i.e man punching bag, to make this test as accurate as possible in hitting an actual human being.
Boxing gloves absorb impact with a larger surfice when contact, it also protect boxers' fist. However it isn't necessarily safer than MMA gloves, since, rather than having a knockout and ending a fight, it prolongs a fight and help induces many more small concussions, which is potentially more dangerous due to it's subtle threat to a fighter.
More people died getting punch by a boxing glove than an mma glove. the reason is because the gloves damages the brain more than the mma glove. The mma glove does more damage on your skin and bones which doesnt kill you. If i had to choose to get hit by a mma glove or a boxing glove from a hard puncher i would pick the mma glove.
John well according to my calculations *puts on nerd glasses* the measurement of a boxing glove and pad inside can slow the hit detection by miles of radiation and extermination which perfectly proves that Pluto is a planet. Suck on that john Bitch
Kornelius Heydrich The weight of the gloves does add a bit more power in the swing than mma or barenuckle...I've been hit by all of these and they all suck
yeah, but mma is not really a gentleman's sport. you need much more dedication in boxing. you box by your life and brain. mma is you box with your body. both are amazing sports but I have more respect for boxing. I personally did boxing and tye boxing.
+Kornelius Heydrich They do reduce damage and impact, however, the higher incidence of deadly head injuries in boxing has more to do with new technique than with the gloves themselves. Back in the bare knuckle era boxers were very measured in their head shots, mainly because they feared striking the top of the skull by mistake and hurting their hand. Hence their tecnique was mainly focused on body shots and precise strikes to the face (nose, mouth and chin). Then boxing gloves came along and suddenly boxers start delivering headshots like crazy because they no longer have to fear breaking their hand. This in turn led to an unexpected rise in deadly head injuries in boxing, but the gloves themselves are not to be blamed directly.
the boxing gloves absorbs bone to bone shocks the force can be similar but the hurt you feel from boxing glove and mma is different even if both have same force
+franco depp I fought with both boxing gloves hurt my head more mma gloves hurt my face more easier to drop someone with mma gloves tho but has fuck all to do with padding its just cause they are lighter boxing gloves start to feel really fucking heavy after a few rounds hard to swing full power
the gloves are supposed to protect your hand, not the guy getting punched. boxing gloves do protect hands better, mma fighters break their hands more. i'm pretty sure mma gloves hurt more since it's almost all knuckles. also consider that fact that its easier to block and cover up with big boxing gloves, compared to mma gloves which you can easily slip punches through anyone's block
Gator Once a professional boxer said to me, that if they (pro boxers) tried to punch as heavy as they do without any wrapping and gloves, they would break most of their bones in hands.
Daniel Dziubanowski well no shit. your head is much, much harder than your fist, and its heavier, and the bones are several times bigger. and I don't know if you've ever punched anyone in the face with your bare knuckles, but your hand hurts like hell afterwards
The reason the bare knuckle registered higher is its focused on a smaller area of the force pad. In reality you can punch much harder wearing boxing gloves because you're adding a pound of weight to your hand and you dont have to worry about breaking your knuckles.
@@doubletapthatdotty4597 most? I’m not sure where you’re getting those statistics, but I’m willing to bet that a majority of boxers will not break their fingers with gloves on. Unless, of course, they are not making a proper fist, hitting a static object really hard, or they have something in their glove
You can hit harder with confidence if you have more padding, though a fist would probably do a lot of damage as the bare knuckles are very hard and can cause lots of damage.
@@minimcgregorminipekka7386 no, boxing gloves tend to give more impact than bare knuckles, but bare knuckles will break bones since it was more smaller and localized
They forgot to take into account that boxers also wrap there fist with a few inches of padding and tape underneath the glove, which adds considerably more force and impact.
One thing gloves do is take the "sting" out of a punch. The "sting" mostly comes from impulse. Impulse is force delivered over time. Gloves don't so much diminish force, they just spread it out. MMA glove padding is denser than in boxing gloves, so they have a similar effect on slowing the punch.
I think they're overlooking the biggest difference. A boxing glove disperses the energy over a larger area. Hit the head it won't make much of a difference, but body shots, concentrating that force to a smaller area is going to penetrate more.
I agree I also think MMA gloves are worse for lighter attacks such as a jab I believe it would produce more SnapBack to the head as you can throw it quicker than a boxing glove and is a harder surface on impact of course you can hit harder without breaking the hand with a boxing but I also think the fact that the glove is lighter has its downsides such as repetitive brain damage as when your exhausted in a fight you can throw more punches with a MMA glove also the fact that they are smaller limits your defence if you boxed with MMA gloves you would get hit a lot more
They nailed the function of the MMA glove allowing someone to grapple but still retain knockout power. Although they still allow eye pokes as well as aren't using any special foam.
Well its not a fact for sure considering what they're testing, if you've ever take a physics course and learned simple facts you'd easily be able to see that, i was just cracking a joke which also happens to be a fact no need to get emotional
Na man that's pressure aplyed, impulse measure the the force and how long it takes for that force to stop, the higher the impulse the more damage it does, cussioning reduces the impulse but at the same time it increases momentum due the weight of the glove itself
MMA gloves KO easy because the force of the punch is concentrated on a smaller surface, which means it will add more impact. Sort of like poking someone with a sharp knife and blunt knife.
No, that's troll physics. Reducing the surface area increases the penetration and pain (like you said, stabbing someone with a knife) but doesn't actually increase the amount of force that rocks your head, which is the actual knockout power. The only reason is reduced padding.
Yeah but it also decreases the spread of impact, meaning the full power of the blow is being targeted into a smaller area for example "the button" instead of landing on a bigger area and spreading the power accordingly.
***** Not always the case, as mentioned before a small glove focuses all the power on one point, which means the force is concentrated on a smaller surface.
0:23 that's Pancrase, a former MMA event in Japan, and they didn't use gloves because punching wasn't allowed. If you watch closely he doesn't punch him, he used his palm since open hand strikes was the only thing allowed.
I guess that with more padding, you are less concerned over hurting your own knuckles but surely with lower surface area means higher pressure. So wouldn't that mean that punches to the softer parts of the body like the torso would have more damage?
shouldn't they state the weight of the boxing glove? they're are different uses of boxing glove weight depending on what you're punching: 16oz heavy bag, 10oz sparring. This weight can make a genuine difference to the amount of power you could receive from a punch.
And this is of course 100% accurate because you did one trial an it's assumed that the boxer always exerts the same amount of force. Genius television.
I'd much rather be in an mma fight than boxing In boxing you can get KOed multiple times and the ref will still stand you up to continue the fight, that's a huge recepe for death So, no thank you
DzekoVelez they fall easier because of the distribution of energy. Think of small gloves as 1 nail, now stand on that one nail and compare it to large gloves and a bed of nails.
If you hit exactly the same every time you swing your fist, you're delivering the same amount of force. The only thing gloves are for is dispersing that force over a wider area of your fist, protecting your knuckles and your fingers from having that force distributed over 4-5 small points and therefore making damage to the hands significantly less likely.
the key is, delivering force to what? If you imagine hitting with a spring glove, then most of the force is wasted on compressing the spring, not transferring to target. This is an exaggeration, but hopefully you get the point. Having a glove with padding is different from having same-size and same-weight solid glove, because some energy is wasted on deformation of the padding.
The whole almost 2 decade of my life i always thought gloves isade to protect the face of ppl who got punch. Only recently i know it was actually to protect the punchers hand
The padding lowers the pressure/stress at the point of contact. Bigger padding provides better protection against breaking bones and what not, but does very little to dampen the force of the punch itself, where concussions are caused by accelerating the brain at a high rate. Therefore, it may be true that bigger gloves won't prevent the KO any better than the MMA glove or even a bare first, but they sure help to prevent damage to facial features and the puncher's hands.
you guys failed to incorporate wrapping. With a wrist wrap the fighter can throw harder punches with less worry on injuring the joint. In theory, a bare knuckle punch will have less force than a properly wrapped and gloved fist because the fighter will be more conscious of protecting their hands. Thats why if you go back and watch a lot of those old bare knuckle fights, fighters were throwing palm strikes to avoid injuring their hands with punches.
If you're talking about the fighting where Bas was using open palm strikes, that's not to avoid injuring his hands, it was part of the rules - no closed fists..
rjthompson91 You could be right but I'm pretty sure I listened to a talk with Joe Rogan where he stated that fighters were indeed doing it to protect their hands and wrist joints. I'm not denying that there was a time when certain promotions had rules against closed fist, I am aware of that fact. I'm just saying I think we both are right here.
CrazyCow500 JRE 335, All Rutten ever mentions is you can damage your fist when you punch bare knuckle, he mentions throwing palm strikes as it creates a couple of inches of more space, and in other videos of his, he talks about the amount of power you can have in a palm strike as you use the bone at the bottom connecting the wrist. It's true too, it's a solid spot.
Bas striking style is great. He does not use a "boxing style" with one leg forward one back.. He squares up so that the jab becomes a straight punch and it makes him more resilient to takedowns.. + it opens up kicks with both legs. It does not work for everybody but it worked for him..
matthew ryder are you kidding? that is a shitty ass right hook. theres not much bodyweight involve (which is what jay is talking about). and if thats his knockout punch, then he isnt that great of a ko artist (hand-wise)
I dont know if this is me but I always felt more of a push when being hit with a boxing glove, and more friction and heat when being hit with an MMA one.
я є ν є и α и т not only that. I'd say boxing is way more dangerous because of its rules. I mean, you get hit in the face to the point you fall in the ground... then you stay in your feet again to be knocked down the same again and again... that's why there's much more brain damage and deaths in boxing than mma
But wouldn't it make sense to use a robotic arm as a control.. Because humans simply can't hit the bag with the exact force every single time.. This changes the relevancy of this experiment.. Not by a huge quantity but enough to say that MMA gloves could deliver more damage.. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
+The great Goliath Boxers often incur micro-concussion (lots of small head damage), which eventually will lead to the KO or head trauma. MMA fighters often get knocked out with between 1 and 4 clean-landed punches (varies quite a bit), and obviously don't fight for nearly as long. To say either Boxers or MMA fighters have a better chin is ridiculous, because all people are different, the gloves are different, and the sport is different. MMA - Lots of damage right away Boxing- Small amounts of damage over time (15 rounds or whatever) I heard somewhere that boxing, small damage over time, is worse for your head than just getting KO'd with one punch.
+The great Goliath Logically yes. Boxing is a combat sport exclusive to striking so boxers will give and take WAAAAY more shots than MMA fighters. Not knocking MMA btw.
Boxing is more dangerous because they keep standing people up after they get nailed in the head, also MMA you don't have every fight with people concentrating on getting head shots. In MMA if you fall to the ground, the fight is basically over. in Boxing you get 10 seconds to stand and if you fail to stand in 10 seconds that person usually has a concussion.
MMA is a lot more rough and dangerous then boxing idiot. There are more concussions and head truma in MMA. So your 100+% inaccurate and anyone that agrees with you is wrong too.
this is a bit misleading. A boxing glove imparts about the same force but it does so over a longer period of time(the thickness of the padding) and over a larger surface area, so force/time/area = less damage from the boxing glove.
You sir are correct. What they were measuring was total force rather than pounds per square inch. When it comes to knockout power, its all about pounds per square inch. Thats why every marshall artist is taught to land their punches on the index and middle finger knuckles. Those two knuckes also line up with the two forearm bones (radius and ulna), which helps prevent any displacement of power with minimal wrist bend. Thats why boxers and mma guys need to wherehand wraps. Bas' punching power would've definitely been more powerful with the wraps.
SDS Overfiend An MMA fighter who retired with a record of 28 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw with about half of his wins by tko/ko doesn't know how to punch properly? Nice logic you have there.
I think that this experiment is a little faulty for the reason that they are all hitting a soft punching bag. Force = mass x acceleration. So essentially, the mass is increasing, but if the little mass of glove is adding to a disproportionate increase in acceleration, the bare fist hits harder. However, in reality you are punching bone on bone, so you cannot punch with the same acceleration without breaking your hand.
Bruh, a few more ounce doesn't make a difference. In your formula, mass refers to the weight of the fighter and acceleration to his speed. Since boxers throw a lot faster than MMA fighters and the gloves transfer the same amount of energy, boxers hit a lot harder than MMA fighters because it's the nature of the sport and the added hand protection
gloves aside, when it comes to punching a boxer will always punch harder than an mma fighter. It's in the technique in punching, boxers became so used to not worry about other aspects other than punching that all they can do is master the art. They can sit well with the punches and generate maximum power from the ground to the hips while mma fighters are used to punch at different angles and body positions etc. Just see Conor, his fans talk non stop about Mayweather getting knocked out bec he won't expect the different angles from a mma striker and when transitioned to boxing there was almost no power felt. Floyd didn't even need to use his signature defense bec he has nothing to fear, not much weight on those conor punches and the little power that it has is nothing compared to the past boxers floyd faced so he took hits so easy

@@dannystalford5029 Good explanation, thanks.
The force is equal but with a bigger glove the force will land on a bigger surface. With a smaller glove the force is concentrated on a smaller surface wich is more dangerous.
*which
Neon Poptart Ok english teacher you might aswell be his personal auto correct

I always had the impression that my brains got more shooked up when hit by boxing glove then with a bare fist.
SAME WTF
PistOn1313 probably felt that way because of a flatter and bigger area you got hit with. compared to a bare fist anyway
Jacob Glaze yeah and also the weight of the gloves
But the MMA glove, all that force is concentrated on a smaller point, so more damage.
What that REALLY means is that MMA gloves are more likely to bust you up, while boxing gloves are more likely to rattle your brain (causing more long-term damage), despite the measurable force being relative/having a negligible difference.
what if my MMA gloves are enchanted with +3 concussive damage?

Well, why would they test a machine if machines aren't the ones that throw punches? Also, if they use a machine, they'd know how much force there would be behind that "punch" because the researchers alone would have to calibrate it, so that would make it pointless. To get the best results, they have to use the truest subjects i.e. a professional fighter.

Larger size gloves spread out the area the force is applied to.
The size of the impact area is very important. Not just the Force. That's why scientists use PSI.

This is exactly the correct explanation
*Whenever youtube recommends me this video, I just can't stop myself from watching it*
Boxing gloves absorb impact with a larger surfice when contact, it also protect boxers' fist. However it isn't necessarily safer than MMA gloves, since, rather than having a knockout and ending a fight, it prolongs a fight and help induces many more small concussions, which is potentially more dangerous due to it's subtle threat to a fighter.
I rather get hit with a boxing glove then a mma glove any time of the day!
Fernando Ramirez completely is out of topic
More people died getting punch by a boxing glove than an mma glove. the reason is because the gloves damages the brain more than the mma glove. The mma glove does more damage on your skin and bones which doesnt kill you. If i had to choose to get hit by a mma glove or a boxing glove from a hard puncher i would pick the mma glove.

yeah, but mma is not really a gentleman's sport. you need much more dedication in boxing. you box by your life and brain. mma is you box with your body. both are amazing sports but I have more respect for boxing.
This in turn led to an unexpected rise in deadly head injuries in boxing, but the gloves themselves are not to be blamed directly.

the force can be similar but the hurt you feel from boxing glove and mma is different even if both have same force
+franco depp I fought with both boxing gloves hurt my head more mma gloves hurt my face more easier to drop someone with mma gloves tho but has fuck all to do with padding its just cause they are lighter boxing gloves start to feel really fucking heavy after a few rounds hard to swing full power
But the MMA glove, all that force is concentrated on a smaller point, so more damage.
There is extremity damage like cuts, bruising and broken bones. But when it comes to brain damage, all three are fairly close and will KTFO people.
@@shaunmaguire6912still MMA there is more chance of a KO ...
the gloves are supposed to protect your hand, not the guy getting punched. boxing gloves do protect hands better, mma fighters break their hands more. i'm pretty sure mma gloves hurt more since it's almost all knuckles. also consider that fact that its easier to block and cover up with big boxing gloves, compared to mma gloves which you can easily slip punches through anyone's block
Except most boxers break hands and fingers anyway even with gloves on
@@doubletapthatdotty4597 most? I’m not sure where you’re getting those statistics, but I’m willing to bet that a majority of boxers will not break their fingers with gloves on. You can hit harder with confidence if you have more padding, though a fist would probably do a lot of damage as the bare knuckles are very hard and can cause lots of damage.
Imagine if Jake Paul hit woodley with his knuckle 💀 woodleys head would he blown off
@@minimcgregorminipekka7386 no, boxing gloves tend to give more impact than bare knuckles, but bare knuckles will break bones since it was more smaller and localized
I agree I also think MMA gloves are worse for lighter attacks such as a jab I believe it would produce more SnapBack to the head as you can throw it quicker than a boxing glove and is a harder surface on impact of course you can hit harder without breaking the hand with a boxing but I also think the fact that the glove is lighter has its downsides such as repetitive brain damage as when your exhausted in a fight you can throw more punches with a MMA glove also the fact that they are smaller limits your defence if you boxed with MMA gloves you would get hit a lot more
TH-cam recommends this to me after 13 years. This whole time I searched for this
They nailed the function of the MMA glove allowing someone to grapple but still retain knockout power. Although they still allow eye pokes as well as aren't using any special foam.
They did not mention the weight of the boxing glove. Not to mention boxers wear hand wrap, gauze and tape, which would increase padding.
Michael Koenig a layer of hand wrap doesn't make a difference
The results of this video are based on the assumption that guy threw every punch with the exact same force.

if this is right then manny pacquiao hits harder than bas lol his bare hand punch was 806 lbs of force

This is inaccurate. Force should not be the measurement used, but PSI.
Na dude actually it should be the impulse lol
rollinggoronable
"Actually" disregarding PSI is a mistake.
Na man that's pressure aplyed, impulse measure the the force and how long it takes for that force to stop, the higher the impulse the more damage it does, cussioning reduces the impulse but at the same time it increases momentum due the weight of the glove itself
Like I said before. Disregarding PSI in any combat scenario in history is folly.
Can confirm that PSI is irrelevant for punches that does not cause fracture.
MMA gloves KO easy because the force of the punch is concentrated on a smaller surface, which means it will add more impact. Sort of like poking someone with a sharp knife and blunt knife.
the reason they knockout faster is because theyre also harder to block
good point
If you watch closely he doesn't punch him, he used his palm since open hand strikes was the only thing allowed.

shouldn't they state the weight of the boxing glove? they're are different uses of boxing glove weight depending on what you're punching: 16oz heavy bag, 10oz sparring. This weight can make a genuine difference to the amount of power you could receive from a punch.
if youve trained both boxing and mma you'd know an mma glove definetively hurts worse
It depends on who is punching you
It was just one punch per glove type, so the force differences can be just the variability of the puncher's delivery.
And this is of course 100% accurate because you did one trial an it's assumed that the boxer always exerts the same amount of force. Genius television.
I'd much rather be in an mma fight than boxing
In boxing you can get KOed multiple times and the ref will still stand you up to continue the fight, that's a huge recepe for death
So, no thank you
So can someone please explain to me why MMA fighters fall SO much easier than boxers if its practically the same force?
With the boxing glove, the force is spread throughout the opponent's face. But with the mma glove, the force is concentrated on a specific area.
The way they throw their punch is completely different...
maybe boxers are a lot more trained to get hit on the face then mma fighters?
DzekoVelez they fall easier because of the distribution of energy. Think of small gloves as 1 nail, now stand on that one nail and compare it to large gloves and a bed of nails.
because in boxing you are playing for points.
bro its been more than 10 years. why was i recommended this
I miss Nat Geo specials , now a days it's all food and travel .
Lies again? Gloves great for push-ups
The whole almost 2 decade of my life i always thought gloves isade to protect the face of ppl who got punch. Only recently i know it was actually to protect the punchers hand
I’ve already stayed up almost all night, but this is interesting… 👀
Imagine how much harder his punches would be if he turned his hips... like even a little bit.
Bas striking style is great. He does not use a "boxing style" with one leg forward one back.. He squares up so that the jab becomes a straight punch and it makes him more resilient to takedowns.. + it opens up kicks with both legs. It does not work for everybody but it worked for him..
so you are telling BAS RUTTEN how to punch?
matthew ryder are you kidding? that is a shitty ass right hook. theres not much bodyweight involve (which is what jay is talking about). and if thats his knockout punch, then he isnt that great of a ko artist (hand-wise)
I'm concerned about the thumb... It's like you guys are teaching people how to screw it up. Classic.
I dont know if this is me but I always felt more of a push when being hit with a boxing glove, and more friction and heat when being hit with an MMA one.
The force is dispersed more with a glove though because the point of impact is larger. Like standing barefoot on 100 nails vs standing on 1.

+The great Goliath Depends on the fighter, not on the sport I think
+Joshua Jones I agree with you on that
+The great Goliath Boxers often incur micro-concussion (lots of small head damage), which eventually will lead to the KO or head trauma. MMA fighters often get knocked out with between 1 and 4 clean-landed punches (varies quite a bit), and obviously don't fight for nearly as long. To say either Boxers or MMA fighters have a better chin is ridiculous, because all people are different, the gloves are different, and the sport is different.
MMA - Lots of damage right away
Boxing- Small amounts of damage over time (15 rounds or whatever)
I heard somewhere that boxing, small damage over time, is worse for your head than just getting KO'd with one punch.

Boxing is more dangerous because they keep standing people up after they get nailed in the head, also MMA you don't have every fight with people concentrating on getting head shots. In MMA if you fall to the ground, the fight is basically over. in Boxing you get 10 seconds to stand and if you fail to stand in 10 seconds that person usually has a concussion.

such an unscientific way of measuring
this is a bit misleading.
CoolPoppa Bell marshall artist?

still
Bas rotten has no idea how to properly punch..
SDS Overfiend But he would still destroy you in the ring so it should not matter to you.
SDS Overfiend An MMA fighter who retired with a record of 28 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw with about half of his wins by tko/ko doesn't know how to punch properly? Nice logic you have there.
+thatkid7698 well tbh your logic doesnt really stand either. having kos doesnt mean they were caused by punches
Jack Goff Um yeah, they actually do. Unless the guy got kicked or hurt himself.
"unless the got kicked or hurt himself" - You just reinforced my point and debunked yours.. all by yourself LOL!
Why don't they make great shows like this nowadays
I think Bass is hitting with last three knuckles like dempsy force line.
You need more punches to get an average force, you don't get good data with just one punch of each.

To me MMA gloves are the best ! Cause like idk when I hit with them on i feel lighter like I can move my fingers grab things and Idk the hitting feels way better than boxing gloves you really feel like you’re the one punching and not the glove !
Same
that's because you could make a natural fist with them, and mma gloves are 4-6oz so that's the reason you´ll feel lighter
@@pizzayummy3668 plus its safer for the opponents, boxing gloves deals a lot of damage to the brain instead of face.
Why didn’t they have him do it a couple of times to find the average??
HG Weston Walther they stupid, and he will have to different time when he is on full strength every time .

It also depends on the person punching, their punch strength
