Loving the garden even more than the house. My fingers are itching to help! The herb garden is lovely, and so great to have it raised. May I suggest you plant the mint in a pot (terracotta if you have one so the moisture can seep through) then replant in the raised bed - this will stop the roots spreading throughout the bed and invading everything else in time. Pot should be about 12 inches at least so the plant can grow and thrive. Hope it helps :)

I was just going to suggest putting the mint into it's own pot. It's such a garden thug.
excellent idea! my mint ‘jumped’ from the two pots (I planted them in) and is taking over part of my landscaping... although it does smell wonderful 😂 & is great in a Moscow mule 🍹
Great suggestion, I did the same with my mint except I just used a plastic bucket, drilled some holes in the bottom to stop it getting water logged and it’s been happy for about three years. I just cut it back every now and then.
Wendy I am redoing my raised garden and plan on planting some other items (herbs and veggies and beans) either in the raised garden or in pots. Which are best for pots?

I’m a Master Gardener, and a suggestion would be to plant the mint in a pot or separate container or two. It will spread through your whole bed, and be difficult to get rid of due to their roots. They love to spread and send seeds everywhere. No point in making more work for you in the long haul. Also, those are two coriander plants. Yum! Thanks again!
It's really inspiring to see a lady who takes as much good care of herself to get that adventurous in the garden, kitchen sports, etc. Its like yours is one of the most well rounded lives I have ever witnessed. Please keep it up, cause you sure are a great inspiration in these times when most tent to invest too much in their careers and ignore most other areas of life.

If you want to encourage wildlife to your garden, it’s a good idea to have a section at the edge of the garden or at one end where you let the grass grow and don’t cut it. It encourages the insects that birds feed off.

3,5 months and we can have these garden vlogs again! I can't wait!
Oh no, definitely move that mint into it's own space. It grows like crazy and not only will choke out the other herbs near it but its notoriously hard to get out of a bed once its established too. You'll think you've gotten it all out and a month later it's taking over again. Lovely tasting/smelling plant but horribly invasive.

Plus the Rosemary will outgrow everything else, it would be better in its own bed or a large terracotta pot.
... you should also never put parsley next to chive. they kill one another 😭
We didn't even plant our mint, it just blew over from the neighbors. We pull some out every year and it goes back and invades the whole area it's in!! It is like a weed, but smells wonderful :)
You have the most gorgeous garden! I;m glad it's yours because although i appreciate its beauty - only from afar, and i would never be able to keep a garden like that the way it deserves!!

Hi Josie - We have been blessed with some bright sunny, and dare I say it, warm days and so glad that you are able to enjoy the garden. The boys must be loving to explore and run around. Gardening looks like a lot of hard work as well as giving you both a good workout.

I would take the mint out and put it in a separate pot. It will run riot and you will struggle to control it, it will pop up everywhere and your other herbs will die back. The house is amazing, well done to both of you for your hard work xx

Birds like to be in sheltered places, like in hedgerows! They sleep in them rather than eat so putting nuts it will just make it 'dirty' in their minds. You could put some dog hair in it as a start of a nest. Also, I'm not sure they'll love being next to a hammock! The birds will have a bird bath in shallow water so putting pebbles into the edge of the bond will be helpful, also for bees to drink!
And I saw in your previous vlog you mentioned that the soil keeps drying out in one of your flower beds, it's likely to need some extra goodness added like manure!

In order for birds to nest, I am pretty sure you need to set up birdhouses before breeding season starts (late summer or early fall). It takes a while for birds to find the houses/get used to them.
Dominique I was thinking it might be a bit late for them to put these as well. They’d have better luck putting out bird feeders to enjoy the birds in the garden this year and try the birdhouses for next year

Thank you Josie! Love love love seeing everything progressing. Just wanted to mention. The low white blossoms in one of the beds could be split up and transplanted to other areas and it will fill in. Also, spiders don’t like mint, so maybe you could make some bouquets for the house later or make an infusion. 🌺🌞😊

Such a beautiful house and garden. Just wanted to say mint is an invasive weed. If you want to have mint in your garden plant it in container or it will take over that raised bed after a while. It will stunt and kill all the other things around it. I learned that the hard way!
