    If you will come back to VN in June /July you will have mangosteens , longanes and the best lychees in the world . Every year Vietnam exports tons of that fruit to China , Japan , USA , Europe , Australia , Singapore ...For me the best Kem Bo Sâu Rieng ( avocado/durian ice cream ) is in Dalat where the best avocados are grown.

    • @EllisWR
      @EllisWR  ปีที่แล้ว

      We'll have to visit Dalat next time and try! You might very well see us back then! Ask your government to give us a 60 day visa hahah 🇻🇳

      @@EllisWR For so long VN used to issue 3 month tourist visas to almost all foreigners . But many of them ( mostly native English speakers ) took advantage of that situation to work under the table here (teaching English at private foreign language schools/centers ) even they were not qualified for that job . A lot of them applied for a 3 month tourist visa and kept renew it by making a quick visa run to the Cambodia or Laos border then came back on the same day . They stayed in VN , enjoyed the good life , took advantage of the low cost of living here and worked illegally without paying taxes to the government . Besides that many foreign criminals also came to VN to hide or do illicit activities. Since the Covid crisis the government stopped issuing tourist visa exceeding 30 days . If some tourists want to stay longer , they have to go to another country then come back with a new 30 day visa . They can do that only twice a year ( one entry + 2 visa runs = 90 days in total ). By that policy it's much easier for the government to control the flow of foreigners in the country . Only foreign investors , experts and business people are allowed to have a one year or longer visa . But lately , since the Covid is almost under control , I heard that the Prime Minister is discussing with the Minister of Immigration , the Minister of Health and the Minister of National Security on easing the visa rules , hopefully for this year . So wait and see .

      @@hungcuongnguyen293 I understand completely there are lots of terrible people that take advantage and its a shame because it ruins it for people like us.
      Hopefully we find a way to stay for longer so we can explore more and give more money back to local people 🇻🇳❤️

      @hungcuongnguyen293 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @EllisWR
      @EllisWR  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've never been to the south so I can't say!
      Such a hard question, central bun thit nuong is so delicious and fresh I could eat 5 bowls
      Bún Cha is richer and makes you feel full but again so so delicious.
      I think Alicia would take the bun thit nuong and me the bun Cha

      @@EllisWR Interesting. Now I cannot wait until you guys try it in HCMC and compare. One couple that tried bun cha in Hanoi said it's probably the best thing they ever ate or right up there...and Anthony Bourdain did take Obama to try it in Hanoi, so you're in good company. I've only tried the southern version, so I cannot compare, but I'd eat any one of them on any given day...but I like how in the US, we often get the fried spring rolls in ours. :)
