My favorite part is that the mice ask Sheila to get their ball but she said that she was busy and tell them to get it for themselves and they said they're not going in there and they're not going to get it and third one said "don't look at me" LOL.
I just found this CD from when I was little, it was my FAVORITE game to play & it STILL works after all these years! :D I was just playing it! I must have finished the game at least a million times when I was little & I still have everything memorized even though I'm 18 now! Haha, it brings back good memories! :)
When I read this Kevin Henkes book (but not adapted into the "Living Books" CD rom) "Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse" and the book "Julius", well in the book "Julius", I remember reciting this line: "Once upon a time", said Lilly", "there was a baby". "His name was Julius. JULIUS WAS REALLY A GERM! Julius was like dust under your bed! If he was a number-HE WOULD BE ZERO! And if he was food-HE WOULD BE A RAISIN! Zero is nothing! A raisin tastes like dirt!". "The End", said Lilly. That story earned her ten minutes in the uncooperative chair.
This game definitely runs on nostalgia for me. I haven't played this game in years and I'm so pissed that I was stupid enough to give these games away.
If you want to have them again there are retro game archive sites, and a free program called SCUMMVM that will run them on modern computers. I'll gladly send you links.
Not right now, no. If you absolutely must get it now...have fun losing $25 of your hard earned cash. However, Wanderful plans to get all these games onto the iOS, and later on computers and Androids. This game hasn't been planned for re-release yet, but it should come sometime soon.
Cool, now I know the game's actual release date! I knew it was somewhere in early 1996 (it's the last title to use the weird 512 x 384 resolution, and the only one in 1996 to do so), but it's always good to know its official release.
I did not notice the part where Sheila Rae sneakily steals one of her dad's cherries-- err, "dead bear eyes" with Mom looking right where Sheila Rae and Dad are, not even reacting to the stealing at all, no matter how many times that happens.
This is driving me nuts. I swear I had a version of this in French yet the entire internet claims it's only in English and Spanish. Did I just imagine I had it in French? Am I just crazy?
You are not at all imagining things. The original version of the game released in America was indeed English/Spanish only (English being the main language and Spanish being secondary)...however, there were multiple foreign versions of the game that translated it to UK English, German, Italian, and yes, French. You can see the French version here! th-cam.com/video/PjC8iQFsYfY/w-d-xo.html

Unless this is the Hong Kong version, there's no way the Chinese version could've been in North America. The only foreign language for most Living Books is Latin American Spanish (Yes, I know the v2 Just Grandma and Me has European Spanish, if you have both versions you'll know the difference)
But if this is the Hong Kong version, it'll only be in Cantonese, not in Mandarin Chinese! Are you saying that the Cantonese version was the only available Chinese version for North America instead of the Mandarin Chinese version?!
The Living Books were my childhood. I'm so glad they are on TH-cam so I can walk down memory lane!
This was one of my first computer games. So many memories. :)

@@acemandave7726 You mean like Sheila Rae giggled when the principal walked by and Louise said, "Here I am!" while she's eating leaves on a branch?
Sweet mother of nostalgia. How did I remember that this exists?

He lives in Taiwan. There were several foreign versions (The EU ones usually had UK English, French, and German), so it probably does exist.
