- If you've been debating if you are able to do your own van build and then support yourself on the road, today's video should help you answer that question with a huge, "YES I Can!" Jody is an artist that was ready to live a better life and just KNEW that life was waiting for her in a van! She found a great used Ford van and a great price and did a simple, cheap van build herself, and moved in!! She hasn't regreted it for a second since! Check it out, I think you'll be both inspired that you can do it yourself, and get some ideas of how to do it! Great job Jody!

Thanks for watching!
It’s so valuable for women to have this channel as a resource
Bob, my husband and I have been following you for months. We put the 'for sale by owner' sign out on the lawn last night. And I am moving through the fear. And I am also very excited for our new upcoming freedom; a new life with no rent.
Cheri Monteith When you are feeling fearful it helps to deep breath with your diaphragm in order to fully feel and release the fear. Once you do that you will be able to get to the causal emotion and that will be release through crying. Good luck and God Bless
Thank you Jody !!! Very nice van.Im looking forward to the freedom also.Thank you Bob !!
Very nice home👍🏽 Bob I so appreciate your professionalism skills of interviewing Van Dweller’s in respect to allowing/letting them talk and explain their “make-up” of their tiny homes without having to talk over them and not allowing them to share like other channels that talk so much about themselves that we NEVER get to find out about the interviewee. Thank you Bob!👏🏽🚎
I appreciate this as well. So many TH-camrs are doing it for their egos, and they never shut up! Bob...your focus always seems to be your viewers, and we appreciate it!
I'm with you Dave, that's one of the main reasons why I continue to watch Bob
Likewise
I like how you include do many female van dwellers in your videos. really encouraging.
Bob, you are always so kind and respectful when you interview people. Thanks for sharing like you do. And thanks to Jody for her warm welcome into her awesome home.
Why do people feel the need to give her design for Herself a thumbs down?? She designed her space for her needs and she chose to be honest about errors, to help others.
Free choice.
She seems like a very kind lady. These gals doing things themselves are so helpful, especially those of us you wouldn't be able to afford to pay someone to help us build these things.
So well said and my feeling too.
Really Love how this lady puts it together and makes it work nothing fancy it just works plus having the nerve to cut the hole in the top I admire her she’s inspired me seriously
Jody knows how to improvise well. A Quiet speaker but I learned a few things from her. I'll use the 5 gallon solution too. It's taller than the 3 gal. And maybe fits the seat better. Thanks Bob for interviewing Jody for us.
this fantastic woman gives me hope. thank you!
Pretty darn good for No experience.! Nice job Jody.
I enjoyed learning about Jody. She is so laid back and kind. Amazing job on her build. Love that she did it on her own.
She seems like a very open and honest person, even speaks of her mistakes.
I got to hand it to these strong ladies, my husband said something about buying a motor home, he wanted to sell every thing, and just take off, I said it would be fun, but he passed away this year, so we didn't get to do it,now I am left alone,
Sorry to hear this, Gloria. Perhaps you might still make the journey.
There are women who take to the road together if you can afford it.
Downsize and get out there. It doesn't need to be a permanent life change. You can do it!
I'm sorry for your loss.. 😢
But I'm sure he would love it if you carried on and lived out the dream! Lots of solo women doing that very thing. I would if I could, but it'll have to wait. Blessings to you.
Thanks so much for this! I'm a single middle age woman and plan on making either a cargo van or box van my home. Spring 2018
Yes, please share! Have you managed to make the move yet?
Shine Light, did you make to head out this past Spring?
How are you getting on??.. I’m moving into my Hyundai trajet end of November full time.. x
Did you make the move?
Veronica King part time. I have a cat and still have a job. So I have a room and a Dodge campervan 👍🏽
There's something I really like about Jody. 👍🏻
I bet it's her cool mustache!! I know I love it!!
@@chrisreed26 How rude can you be..? Or are you 12?
@@jojo-ir9um Who replies a year later??..Where have you been?? Making biscuits? hahaAfter seeing your cooking video now I see why you took my comment to heart!! It hits close to home for you I see...lol
Well done. The Cedar roof is beautiful.
The cedar slats give the ceiling a nautical look. It's a joy to look at.
Yes, Jody you were helpful and encouraging. You have a gentle way about you that is nice. Thanks for sharing with us. Bob again as always , if it wasn't for your dream and vision for all of this , we wouldn't have the ability to view and learn from such great videos and interviews, Blessings, teri
What a great space...well done, Jody!!!
I really dig the yellow. : )
Jody seems like a calm, genuine person. Nice job!
When you say, a lot of women don't know how to build! A lot of men don't either!!!! I applaud you for your fortitude!
Jody sets a good example! So many people doubt themselves to the point of never getting started. I think the best advice anyone has given concerning van dwelling is to "just do it". You'll learn as you go and can improve your layout as you learn. If you wait until all the lights are on green you'll never leave your house.
I applaud Jody because rather than just stop when she ran up against something she didn’t know how to do, like most people do, she pressed on and now she’s self sufficient and free.
Great job Jody!
What a really cool space Jody has created. I laughed with Jody laughing at her mistakes with the bed. She did it, and what a great job too. You can't see any mistakes, and she has a really nice bed. Pretty cool.
Thanks Bob for a great interview!
I think you did a great job Jody! The day may come when I do this type of thing. Not for sure...but maybe. And I am learning so much from everyone here. :)
I admire this nice woman for constructing things to hv good order. Imagine the money she saved by using simple ideas. Everything is out of the way but easily assessible. I admire her efforts to create what she needs. Happy traveling and stay safe.
Wow love these amazing courageous woman who are living life on their own terms. Thanks Bob xx
I can,t believe it, people can do so much in small space . It is gift that they can do it or necessity of life.l really like it. God bless. Dear bob well. You are also a champion of helping others by your videos.
Perseverance wins the day.
My favorite TH-camr!! Period.👍
thumpergman
No need to use profanity
You know thumpergman
...there is one of you in every crowd. Sad to say.
thumpergman My prayer for you is that you learn to change your attitude. In this world, and especially in the anonymity of being online it's oh so easy to be cynical. That cynicism will kill you quicker than a bullet. You are only hurting yourself with the hate and resentment. I'm sorry truly that you have gone through a life that leaves you so venomous. I could easily be that way, as a matter of fact without Jesus Christ I would be throwing verbal crap at you right now. I just pity you now.
No I won't...loser.
Very pleasant lady . I could listen to her all day.
I like the Cedar, that gives it a good wood smell I bet!!!
Michael Bauer and keep the insects away they hate the smell!!
good for you not having any inhibitions and just going for it! Happiness is your own and what makes you happy.
"scary proposition" to cut a hole. Yes! Cutting holes is what's scary to me. You go, girl!
I enjoyed Jody and her tour very much, and Bob, I really enjoy the professionalism of all your videos, which are all very educational.
Power to the Women!! We can do it just as good as a man! Who says we have to be standing in front of a kitchen sink all our lives??
Safe travels and God Bless!!
What a great woman doing all that wood work and had never before
Sweet Lady. She did a great job. I wonder if she could find the fantastic electric type fan to fit in the current space she cut out?? She seems so calm and content. Praying and fingers crossed this will be my life soon. Just Me Fur baby and lots of books. 💙
A really nice job & a nice Little Home bless you girl👍✨✨✨
Good job Jody
Thank you Jody.
OMG! I know her!!! Hi Jody. I'm from Indy but I'm in Brown County a lot. I didn't know you were living this lifestyle. I'm so happy for you. If I was a single lady I'd would love to do what you are doing so good for you. Love your whole set up. Glad to see you so happy. Safe travels sweet lady.
Really nice van build. Jody seems great and any lady who wears Keen sandals has to be nice lol.
She did a great job
Terrific setup, Jody and great interview, Bob.
I like her! She showed me that I could do all of that myself also! Thank you for the video!
Love the fold-out door mounted table idea! I'm currently in a Ford Van and really appreciate your use of all the available space. I've also toyed with the idea of removing the passenger seat for more usable space. After seeing your table set up, I'm convinced! My dog will even appreciate it ... she's my "Navigator" :) Thanks for sharing your ideas! God Bless
JODY YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL HOME.
MAN I WISH I COULD HAVE WHAT YOU HAVE.GOD BLESS
I really like those shelves and table she built.very simple and practical.
Love the idea that she took out the front seat. Huge amount of space opened up.
She's happy, she did a great job🎉
Smart lady good job
Thanks to Jody for sharing and thanks to Bob for finding people to share with all of us out here. Bob, you are getting pretty good with the editing...practically seamless. Thanks again!
A very good van build with everything so functional! I am so impressed!
I respect Jody she is doing great
I’ve seen on ‘other’ channels welding an aluminum structure to make all the cabinets and working surfaces. Lots of work and by the time they have finished they have spent 100’s if not thousands for the materials and tools to do it. Once you do the welding you can’t change the layout unless you put in the effort to break it down. This method of using a drill and a hand saw seems much smarter. You can always finish the wood with paint or clear finish.
Cool.. Awesome setup Jody.
Loved her van, what an inspiration!
Thanks for sharing Jody
Keepin it simple that’s the way to go.
she did a great job especially for someone who isn't a carpenter. The more you do stuff the more you learn!
She did a great job of building by herself. Love her set up and I'm sure its a work in progress and changes she will also make later. Great job and Thanks for the video.
Thank you Jody and Bob for this great video interview ,tour . Jody ,awesome work. "Easy", youve got to have the want to,Lol. 😂and yes, it can be done. Good for you both ,accomplishment is so sweet! Enjoy always Bobs interviews, tours. Anything!. Safe, happy journeys to all.
I keep downsizing, and Bobs videos of so many people is invaluable. I once thought 660 sq ft was minimal, now I am going to 120 sf and thinking it's luxurious. Thank you, Bob!
Delightful woman and a cozy, functional build. a credit to her creativity. but as a traveling artist myself I was excited to hear about her art on the road and to see her "studio". but I was to be disappointed, sadly. I hope she is still painting her landscapes and wonder what medium she uses.
I love the table,the shelves , it's awesome 👍
I'm giving the van life a serious amount of thought. Jody has been an inspiration. The bed is something I have been concerned with, since I'm 6'2". I do have a 21 foot camper but I really like the idea of moving around with less expense and more freedom. Thanks for what you do, it does help. If you see Judy thank her for me.
great job and comfortable looking
Great interview, , Bob! What a nice van-and very clever lady. So many creative ideas! 😊👍😎

Wow she did a AMMAZING BUILD VERY VERY COZZY
She seems like such a nice person...she’s done a beautiful job ..Safe travels!!
Wow this Woman is determined to get it done by HERSELF and not have to ask anyone which there's nothing wrong for asking for help but i get it cuz i would much rather do something myself then ask :) Good Video Bob and i learned a few tricks and that's why we Love Your Videos and it just isn't Your Pretty Face Bob hehe
Soooo encouraging Thanks 👍♥️😇
Love the ideas, nice job. I couldn't help but notice her van is same exact color as mine. 03 Savana Cargo van. Every time I watch these clips I get more ideas to work from.
Awesome Van. The yellow color is beautiful & refreshing.
Nice change from "another white van" :D
Impressive! Way to go Jody! Very cool setup.
What a clever girl Jody! Thank you Bob!
Another great video.. I will be out there with everyone in 2026 when I retire. I have until then to pay off debt and get my van set up the way I want.
Full of very useful info in a relaxed manner.
Nice simple build Jody! Looks great

Even though you say you do "not know how to do it", it looks very functional, and I say, "well done!"
Looks great!
Did an amazing job!
Hard working woman, good job!
My husband said this is the only woman he's seen that had enough tools and repair products in her van. ☺️
Nice simple setup that is HOME ! well done
