The containers then go out in to the elements without further protection (like in a greenhouse) as the seeds should experience the conditions of winter. They will not start to grow until conditions are right in the spring. For example, I put out my yarrow and tomatoes in early January; the yarrow sprouted in late February and the tomatoes not until late June. This is not a method that gets your plants started earlier, but one that builds hardy plants. 😊
I don’t, I tear them open when it’s time to plant. But that is why I save used ziplocks from the kitchen, they have been used at least once before winter sow. (I did run out of used ones this year and had to pull fresh new ones. I didn’t love it.)
What time of year are you doing this. Your planning to plant these is spring correct. Can they go into a green house once u plant the seed?
