    Sweet rock crawler. Wish that sucker was in my garage. What was the air pressure in those huge tires when you ran this trail? They don't look aired down at all.

      BFGoodrich Tires work well on Sand Hollow terrain. Figure most people run 7-8 psi but with the 42" tire on a 20" wheel, there is less sidewall to flex, one reason why they are the best tire out there for this sport.

    Those Rock-Bouncer "crawling is for babies" types don't have shit on this guy lol. I've seen more broken parts in a single Rock-Bouncer event than I've seen in all other offroad motorsports combined. This is not something to be proud of, IMO. If people are breaking shit, they either weren't prepared, or they're just not very good drivers. The driver in this vid is a true quiet professional. He reminds me a bit of my late best friend (Never Forgotten). He was a Coyote (8x8 Light Armored Vehicle) driver in the Canadian Forces, and he drove Cougars (6x6 LAV) before that. Some of my best off-roading trips were had with him, his wife and my wife. He taught me so much that I would never have figured out on my own, and with his help, I was able to turn my wife into one hell of a Crawler. She went from being scared just at the prospect of driving offroad to climbing up boulders so quickly it made my head spin. Never underestimate the value of an experienced teacher. It just sucks that things had to turn out this way. It's true that the good die young, and by those standards, I'm bound to live forever without my best friend and mentor. If I didn't have my wife, it certainly would have done me in. She's a warrior in her own right.

    I guess adding water to the tires also lowers the center of gravity a lot for such a light buggy. How much water is in each tire?

      @TrailHeroStudios  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wcslv _ generally speaking, to the bottom of the wheel, around 150 lbs per wheel

      I remember years ago when Lions Back ridge was still open. A jeep fell off the right side (facing the trail) and got wedged in the crack in the rock. There was a tow truck going up Lions Back to try to winch it out. It was pretty wild seeing a tow truck climb the near vertical wall to get up there.

      This area is designated for this type of motorsport and the environmental impact is very low. The motor is a Chevy EcoTec, Jeep 904 Transmission, and jeep Dana 300 transfer case. Motor puts out roughly 200 HP and has a crawl ration of about 70:1

    Do you use dry sump to allow for these steep ages without damaging the engine?

    • @TrailHeroStudios
      @TrailHeroStudios  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not always. We have advanced oiling systems that are more affordable than a dry sump, but not as good.
