Toy Caldwell decided to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. In 1966, he reported for recruit training at Parris Island, South Carolina. After being wounded in Vietnam in September 1968, he was evacuated for two weeks, then returned for duty. Caldwell was discharged in 1969 and once again began playing music with his high school buddies. The Spartanburg chapter of the Marine Corps League is named the Hutchings-Caldwells Detachment in honor of Toy, his brother Tommy and another Marine, Pvt Nolan Ryan Hutchings, who was killed during the Iraq Invasion in 2003. Toy Talmadge Caldwell Jr. (November 13, 1947 - February 25, 1993) Rest easy brother Devil Dog.
Went to see marshall Tucker last month seen the original group 3 times now the only 1 alive is the tamborine player. Which l assume has the rights to band name. Young new musicans were descent but the the 74 year old tamborine player l guess thinks hes a singer!Awful karoke better luckily pure prarie league was still solid and atlanta rhythm section kicked ass! Marshall Tucker which was 1of the great southern rock bands ever now sucks!place emptied out 4 to 5 songs in.The whole crowd was pissed!Sad!
Hi David, that's too bad because I agree with you they were 1 of the geatest southern rock bands and youv'e been lucky to have seen them live. take care.
That "tambourine" player is Doug Gray, their lead singer for many years and the only living original member alive.. Now, at 75, his voice is not great due to age- it hits all of us. Usually they have other band members do a lot of the singing and Doug tells a lot of stories..............
@@charliefrago1380 I know who it is I took my son and he posted that Marshall Tucker with Doug right now is the worst pro band I've ever seen in my life and when I seen them when they were young and Doug gray singing they were one of the best I've ever seen! People walked out all he did was clap his hands and get the crowd to sing their songs I seen them two years before and all the young guys that all the saying and it wasn't too bad this time it was horrific he needs to stand down with the crowd and watch people were wanting their money back
Bravo! I am feeling it. 👏🎸🎤🎵🎶
Thanks Rydenbrook.
