It’s 1 in 100,000 chance to get it from weeds so I doubt he has gotten it legit before even with his amount of hours

Really surprised you didn't go fishing immediately on the first day, or maybe you forgot you could, but that's good money and food for energy that would set you up for everything else especially since you lose out on the day 3 guarantee rain day.

I could be wrong but I think you have to read the mail saying he will be back tomorrow, for it to trigger

@@Tooshi but cause you slept the first year you can do it right away and get the rod. so you could have fished all day the first day or two just for energy and money which would have given you more food for energy than foragables, would also have given you a bit of money plus you'd likely get a few other resources along the way.
Either way I think if you spent the first 2-3 days fishing you'd have been able to do all the stuff you done in spring and then some as you'd have had more energy and money early game you wouldn't have needed any of the foragables for energy so they all could have went toward completing the community center or toward shipping one of everything.

@@Tooshi You read the mail day one of year two which is effectively day one as you just slept for the first year.
Outside of clearing the trees so you could move and maybe getting enough wood to build a chest wouldn't it have been better to fish than do everything else you did? You actually got the rod about half way through day one of the challenge but said you weren't going to bother fishing right making it sound as if other things were more of a priority, but surely in the early game the biggest priority is energy or lack of, fishing would have resolved all of your energy issues. I'd have thought fishing was a bigger priority than getting spring onions or foragables that give minimal energy or money you had the entire spring to collect the forageables you needed, you certainly didn't need to activate the CC on the first day as long as you kept the stuff you needed for it as you found it.
