Indian honeybees are disappearing from Himachal | Why are they important to the Himalayan ecology?

  • Honeybees are an integral part of mountain farming in Himachal Pradesh. It is a source of income, nutrition, and medicine for mountain communities. These tiny superorganisms help in pollination of plants. Which increases the productivity of crops and maintains biodiversity of the region. Traditionally, farmers in Himachal keep the indigenous honeybee called Apis cerana. But in the last few decades, there has been a steep decline in their numbers. These indigenous bees, which are crucial to our ecosystem are on a verge of extinction.
In 1961, Apis mellifera, a different honeybee species from Italy was introduced in the state. Many beekeepers in Himachal Pradesh transitioned to Apis mellifera. These bees can produce 3 times more honey than the Apis cerana. Even Though the honey production rocketed in the state, other issues started to show up. The Italian bees can only survive under intense care and protection offered by the beekeeper. They need a lot of flora spread over a vast expanse of land. But this is not possible considering the geography of Himachal Pradesh. Apis mellifera is also vulnerable to attacks from a wide array of predators, pests, and parasites (e.g., hornets, sun bears, Varroa) .They must be treated with antibiotics for Varroa control. Hence these subspecies are not suitable for the hills. On the other hand, Apis cerana is a natural host of Varroa and does not require any treatment. while the vast majority of Apis cerana colonies still live wild and in balance with nature. While the majority is opting for the commercially popular mellifera, there are some beekeepers who still understand the value of Apis cerana bees.
Almost all homes in Himachal have honeybee hives. They are mainly kept in log and wall hives close to the homestead. Local honey bees come and stay in them. These hives are built into a wall. The wall of a house is carved out to make a hollow space, which was typically covered with wood used as a door to the hive. Finally, the wooden door is plastered and secured using cow dung. Behind the wall, through a small opening, bees could move freely and make honey. Honey can be harvested from these wall hives twice a year. Apis cerana bees have a long foraging time and the pollination rate is also higher. This will help farmers in the region who are cultivating cash crops like apples and plums.
Apis cerana population has been declining for decades in Himachal Pradesh. Deforestation, climate change, competition from exotic Apis mellifera, increased use of pesticides are killing these tiny insects. Their decline is a direct threat to crop production and sustainable biodiversity in Himachal Pradesh.

Down to earth in 2080: humans are being forcefully wiped out from this planet; why it is so? Answer: their greed/avarice.

This old world will be destroyed before 2036., dear brother soul, don't talk about that year 2080.! God Shiva, the Supreme Father, the Supreme Soul, has already come in this physical world, from Nirvana, in that year 1936., to establish the New Empire of paradise in India, future Maha (Great) Bharat for those future perfect Deity (Devi-Devta) souls for them to rule there over this whole world through 2500 years, through the Golden and Silver ages. Do you know that ancient Maha Bharat is remembered by us as Atlantis? Those souls from the Christian religion became wealthy by taking with them most of Bharat's treasures of diamonds, jewels and gold from its temples, especially from the Somnath temple which is originally built in gold and studded with diamonds and other precious stones by those same Deity souls who became impure in the very beginning of the Copper age or Dwapara yuga. According to the drama plan the Christian religion, that is, America, is every drama cycle, every 5000 years, instrument for destruction of this old world of Kaliyuga, called by God Shiva, Ravan's (Satan's) kingdom, or hell. There will be that final IIIWW with the nuclear bombs, projectiles and other nuclear weapons. Don't nourish any hope in your mind of surviving such huge, total destruction. The elements of nature will also help in cleansing of this old world. The Covid-19 does the same. Wherever we or the animals will be at the end, in the air, under the ocean surface, underground, all our mortal bodies will have to finish because that dirtiness from here cannot be visible to the eyes of those perfect deities in that perfect, pure world of God's paradise. For you to have hope for this devilish world only means, you are already Satan's customer but all those such souls, God calls them devils, have to know that God will be victorious and successful at the end in that His task of establishment and all those who indulge in vices will have to leave this planet empty-handed. That one among His many titles is "the Death of all Deaths!" So, all we'll have to leave our perishable costumes. In India, there will be a civil war soon and the rivers of blood will flow there. We will not be able to find a moment of peace and comfort here very soon. God Shiva's eternal children, by being adopted by Him, through Prajapita Brahma, the father of humanity, become "the Untouchable Ones!" This is the reason why He, God Shiva, says about this His direction or practice that we should imbibe while alive, He says to you too, "My sweet child, consider yourself to be a body-less soul, a star-like point of light and remember Me, the Supreme Father, the Supreme Soul, God Shiva, in that My same form of a point of light and your all sins of this and previous births will be absolved and you will be able to return back home, to Nirvana, the soul world, or the land of liberation, with Me." A soul can be purified either through that easy and enjoying, peaceful but powerful remembrance of God or through painful punishment. There is no other way.
