Love your project and what a special collab in honor of our moms! My mother would love this and I am going to show this to my aunt in the hospital to make her smile. Bringing your beautiful flowers to her ... Luv ya loads dear friend xo xo Audie
Beautiful just beautiful! all of you ladies paint your hearts out. and everything is always breath taking thanks to you Angela Anderson, Cinnamon Cooney, silver creek and Linsey the frugle crafter.
Angela, these flowers are so gorgeous. I have them on my "to do" list which is quite long. I have had a tendency to start a project & then another really awesome one comes out & I set that one aside to start the new one. This process has repeated itself 7 times & now I NEED to start finishing some. (although, today would be a great day to start these as its been raining & cold for 2 days) lol. thank you for sharing your gift of beautiful art.
+Sue Clark LOL I feel your pain! I do the same thing. My studio has at least 6 works in progress at any given time. So glad you liked this one. Hope you do try it! :)
I have to disagree ... there was no ugly stage in this painting. It just kept getting better and better. Blending with acrylics is a real challenge for me. This tutorial has clarified the technique in a way that makes sense to me. Thank you.
+Pat Walsh You are too kind. I am so glad it made sense. I do wonder sometimes if I am explaining things well enough. Thank you for letting me know you liked it. :)
Angela, your irises are beautiful. They remind me of my Grandmothers walkway, leading up to her front door. They welcomed you. I'm definitely painting them. Thank you.
You are teaching me to blend! I tried an advanced painting of an iris, and did not know how to blend. Thank you so much! This is beautiful, and I may try it.
Wow fantastic instruction! A friend of mine asked me to help her out with a present for her mom. I've never painted with acrylics nor have I drawn irises before but your instructions will definitely help me get there. Thanks so much!
Really love the irises. The colors you used are some of my favorites. I was glad to see you got this flower. I think you nailed it. Thank you for the tutorial Angela. It's awesome.
Wow, the first irises I actually love ! I do one stroke painting normally, but don't like the one stroke iris! Thanks for giving this to us painters. I am trying to venture out of my comfort zone and do other than one stroke!
this is fantastic; my parents just sold their house and moved into a wonderful retirement community. They left behind irises, hydrangeas and lilacs so i am painting all of these. LOVE your nails :)
+Juanita Boshart That is great! I am glad you will be painting them. I am sure your parents will miss their flowers. I know I would. Thanks so much! :)
I love the way you teach. I love the concept of your group. This painting is exactly what I was looking for today. Thank you so much. I am thankful for you!
Very pretty. The colorful background is a great complement to the flowers. I love painting flowers, but haven't tried one of these beauties yet. Soon. :-). Thanks for the tutorial.
absolutely beautiful! I hope to be able paint this in honor of my grandmother. It was her favorite flower and she also loved the blue flowers best. Thank you very much for the tutorial.
So pretty, the irises are starting to bloom here this week and yours remind me so much of the ones in our neighborhood. Thank you for the lovely video.
thank you, thank you! you'd think its easy to find an 'Iris Acrylic' panting lesson on youtube..nope ..only found a beautiful watercolor lesson I've been getting frustrated with..trying to work it into Acrylics. 2 weeks now I've been fiddling along, put it down waiting to feel like finishing it. Now I know I can get an Iris painting done in time to send it to my Mama overseas :) very Happy - love the back ground better too, than mine - I used a beige - or off white.
I love the way you teach! So focused, so informative, simplified, everything explained. One suggestion might be to explain what part of the brush you're using and for what. Ex. "I'm using the edge of my brush and very little pressure when I pull down and lift off at the end to make the veins in the petals". Or I'm using the chiseled edge of a flat brush and just barely touching then lifting off". Just a suggestion. I really think it's wonderful just the way it is. You had me mesmerized. By the way, I also like that you're not in the way during your instructions. That way you can stay zoomed in to the painting itself, which of course, is the focus. ;-)
+Marsha Hanna Thanks for watching. I do more of the brush directions in my beginner videos. I guess I am assuming the more advanced student is already familiar with the techniques on these difficult projects. I will try to be more aware of that.
I'm trying to do this, how do you keep your paints from drying to fast on the pallet? I am at such an ugly stage and discouraged. I quit for today and will start again tomorrow.
+LizzyDvacurls Thank you! The heavy body acrylics don't dry out as fast as craft acrylics. And I keep a spray bottle with water to spritz it when it starts looking dry. If you live in a very dry climate you may want to make a stay wet palette with a damp sponge under palette paper. They are available to buy but you can also look up diy videos for them.
I appreciate the video and realized only too late that this wasn't a beginner painting. I've only painted three paintings in my life, including this one. Maybe you could include in the title "Medium/Advanced"? Also, could you use layman's terms for the colors sometimes? Like, use the actual name for people who know what you are talking about and then use a simpler word? Just a few suggestions, I apologize if this was out of line. I'm still working on the iris I just wanted to throw in my thoughts. Thank you for what you do!
+Shell Craigmiles All the actual colors I used are listed in the description if that helps. I did mention in the sketching portion of the video that it is not intended for beginners. Sorry you did not catch that part! I am impressed that you tackled such a major painting. Best of luck with it! You might try watching some of my paintings from my beginner playlist just to listen to some of the instructions about brush handling and such. They might help a bit. Thanks so much for watching!
Hey Angela, I'm trying to follow this video, but I need to slow it down. I am watching on an Apple iPad, but don't see any settings to change the speed. Please help.
+Nikki Smalls Not sure if that is available on tablets. I think it may only work on computers. I checked mine and it did not have that option either. So sorry.

Hi Angela do you have a traceable for this? I would love to paint this
how do you keep your paints from drying? love this!

Thanks! I use a spray bottle too, was seeing if you had a different suggestion, and you did! 😀 and yes I'm in Nevada, so very dry
+LizzyDvacurls Ah yes then you will definitely benefit from a stay wet palette! :)
Beautiful! What brand of paint do you use?
+Stacey Wilder Thank you! I use golden and liquitex acrylics.
Your painting of the iris flower is so nice I want to copy. Please allow me to do as you did it. Thank you.
