My daughter is now 8 and I just got down a routine that makes us both happy. I got so frustrated with the upkeep that I had to big chop her when we lived in Hawaii. Washing her hair after all the pool and beach visits was not the business I tell you! Its grown back now and im not stressed like before. Great job Tierra!!!! Its not easy but we find a way!

Her type 4 hair is so shiny and thick those 4a/4c hair coils are poppin'!!!😍 💁🏾♀️🔥 I was and still am tender-headed so I get the struggle try using a curly hair wet brush for type 4 natural hair like Felicia Leatherwood brush, EZDetangler Brush, and get a ShampooTime Mat for a better wash day experience(@ezdetannglerbrush @loveshampootime @brushwiththebest). Incorporating an oil mixture and/or a prewash treatment finger detangling in 6 sections before shampoo will Just For Me! Curl Peace Tender Head Detangling Treatment is the best one for kids it's at Sally's Beauty, Walgreens & Target. Don't USE CANTU products they had a recall especially on the product you used. Try a metal point rattail comb it doesn't hurt to part as much and makes clean sections. I'm tender headed too so try styling her hair when she is asleep if she's a deep sleeper like I was as a kid. First, finger detangle in sections then use a curly hairbrush like Felicia Leatherwood, EZ Detangler and/or Denman brush. Tips so baby won't cry: Snacks, TV or board-water books, comfy mat when baby isn't too tired I recommend @loveshampootime. The LCO/L.O.C. Method is key for hydrated type 4 afro-textured hair add gels, mousses, and creams after or the next morning or when braiding the hair outside wash day. Right after, rinsing out the deep conditioner with cool water put a creamy leave-in conditioner in the hair WHILE STILL IN THE TUB so you can better style the hair after bathtime. If the baby wets their hair in the bath at night add a hair cream and a little oil to the hair so it doesn't dry out by morning. Always seal in a leave-in conditioner with an oil and a butter/cream styler or the hair will tangle up o its self & dry out(hurts to comb). A 30 minute braided style will take me no lie about 3 hrs. Glad you shared because I always wondered how you managed to do her thick curly hair, for me it's a struggle my daughter has 4C and I just started blow drying and using the straight heat brush at the age of 7 but before then girl nope no heat!
You just gotta wash their hair in the tub. You can’t do the sink until they get older. 🤷🏾♀️ Just baptize them real quick. Bloop! Bam! Bam! And then, it’s over. That sink does not work until they are like 5.
