我是以前住在西貢的華僑，年紀比小陳大，也知道一點西貢的点故.
你們參觀的統一宮，並不是一原來法国人建的那一座. 原來那座在196x 一次政變中給炸了，不能復修. 後來給鏟平了在原地建現在這座美式的統一宮.
統一宮附近是原法國殖民的行政区. 还保留了很多法式建築物. 比如高等法院和胡志明市博物館等等.
没错, 1868年至1873年之间由法国人建造的原来建筑叫诺洛敦府，因为它在诺洛敦街。诺洛敦是西亚嚕克的姓。1962年2月27日，南越军队发动推倒吴廷琰的政变中，它被大部份摧毁了。现在的独立府是1962到1966年在原址重建， 它由越南建筑师吴悦塾Ngô Viết Thụ设计，南越工兵局建成。

18:24 From 1954 to 1975, this building was called Dinh Độc Lập (Independence Palace) where the 2 South VN presidents (Ngo Dinh Diem & Nguyen Van Thieu) lived until 1975 when the South VN regime collapsed & it was renamed Hội trường Thống Nhất (Reunification Hall).
Ngo Dinh Diem has never lived in this new palace because he is dead in 1963 and the reconstruction of this palace ended in 1966

Chính vì cuộc đảo chính này, dinh cũ đã bị hư hại nghiêm trọng. Nó được san bằng và xây dựng lại theo dự án của Ngô Việt Thụ từ năm 1962 đến năm 1966.

Vietnam's environment, cities, nature is admittedly better than the Philippines national capital region with a heavily Americanized culture since 1900s.
You have a lot of simple yet organized as well as modern bldgs, shops, pavements, pathwalk, public markets, tree lined streets, lots of parks, roads, rivers, landscapes etc.
Like the rest of ASEAN countries, you value and retain your cities character, culture, arts and design, especially the "Tieng Viet" language ABOVE the (American) English in your designs, gov't bldgs, documents, airports, seaports, public establishments COMPARED to how the Philippines does it with its provincial capitol bldgs, city halls, airports, govt documents like laws, birth certificate, licences, babies names, shops and products naming.
Obviously more tourists THAN the Philippines heavily Americanized proud English-speaking people in Asia.
Shameless and almost no cultural identity, all for dumb family's hungry stomach nationalism/patriotism won't feed you ..reasons.
Congratulations Vietnam for surpassing Philippines economically and Militarily.
