Before i got into harder Rock/Metal i used to love BJH from about 1976 onwards,i had the Rock And Roll Star 7" Red Vinyl with the blistering live version of Medicine Man that i never got tired of playing,i would have been about 16 years old....Fantastic to find this video.
What an absolute blessing it has been to share and enjoy the music of This Band for all of my life. I am now 65 years old and have yet to meet one person in my circle who has ever listened to any of their music and I'm so thankful that I was led to them at an early age. The thought process through the music has just been a great experience in my life. This music truly is for everyone who is everybody else!
@@thewordofgord yeah I stumbled upon them while I was flipping through records at Sooto records back when we still did records.. just discovered another band that I put in a class with or greater than Pink Floyd and that is Porcupine Tree. @@tritop I get back when I take the time and I do take the time from time to time as much as possible to sit back and listen and reminisce about the past and the future. @@genegould6383 porcupine tree is great, my women took me to a Steven Wilson concert some years ago, awsome ; here is a another fantastic band for you th-cam.com/video/yNuPf8siX_8/w-d-xo.html
you prolly dont give a shit but if you guys are bored like me atm then you can stream pretty much all the latest series on InstaFlixxer. Have been binge watching with my gf recently :)
The double LP "Live 1974" was my first LP at all. And it's, in my view, by far the best Album by the band. Medicine Man, She said and Mockingbird are just outstanding and awesomes versions.
I was there in 1974 @ Huddersfield Town Hall - life changing & utterly devastating gig - sensational for its originality & musicality - u iqie in every possible way
Simplemente magníficos música para la eternidad la escucho desde los años 70 no me canso de escucharla.Viva los 60 y los 70.Un saludo para los a amantes de aquella época, pues nunca volverá.
Saw them live at Birmingham University in 1975 and again at Ipswich Regent in 1978. Much better live than on the albums. RIP. a sad loss for those who never got to see them !
He gave the typical progressive sound of the 70s from that era. After he left the band, they changed their musical direction toward a more friendly 80s sounding. Still there were some good songs and ideas, but something was gone with Wooly's departure.
This blew me away on first hearing of a three track EP. Mocking Bird 1st track followed by the intro to Medicine Man. 2nd side the rest of Medicine Man in all of its glory :)
Awesome! Have loved this track since I first heard it on the double live black album. There are several live versions but this is my favourite. The instrumental section gives me goose bumps every time I hear it - which would be in the hundreds! Don't forget to mention Mel's drumming. He had such an individual style and his playing on this track is one of his best. RIP Woolly and Mel.
No se puede decir de otra manera es música celestial cuanto más la escuchó más me hace soñar y así desde mis 20 años osea desde los 70 para mí son unos genios lastima que no triunfarán como se lo merecían pues eran grandiosos.
Brings back great memories, I never saw them live in this early era but as an apprentice I was discovering a) BJH and their massive collection of music and b) Beer! Good times!
remember seeing BJH at Leicester University - a very early gig - when they came back for a clearly unexpected encore they had to play She Said again as they didn't have another number! This song was a b side on a single in 1973 which I played incessantly on the Percy Gee jukebox - still at Leicester University. Amazing stuff!
i was lucky to see them at leeds town hall back in the early 70s.. a few years later i had the chance to join their roady team .. broke my leg a few weeks before we set off round the um so missed it all
It's a sobering thought that Woolly, Mel and David Walker are no longer with us... I wonder how many others on this clip are now up roading for the great gig in the sky?
Everybody used to compare bjh to floyd. These guys were better.EMI put bjh on the harvest label with pink floyd, they didnt know were else to put them.Luved this band for45 years now !
I agree, this is a good version of the song, although I like the album version as well, the Harvest label was reputedly named after the band (according to the NME encyclopedia of rock) 😏

I hear you Gene, but i had a few friends who shared back in the 70's.
1974 alone in my room with them and early Genesis, somehow lost but in a magical world too, how only i could get back

Mel Pritchard deserves far more credit than he gets and so does Woolley Wolstenholme on melotron- truly groundbreaking - God bless their souls

Same for me when I saw them at my polytechnic, Kingston, in 72.
This is the version on the 1974 live album. Still brilliant.
Brilliant group effort around John's finest song. Mel Pritchard deserves great praise for his performance, akin to John Densmore. Stunning.

I agree. Their best work was done when Wooly Wolstenhome was in the band. The band was never the same after he left in 1979.
He gave the typical progressive sound of the 70s from that era. After he left the band, they changed their musical direction toward a more friendly 80s sounding. Still there were some good songs and ideas, but something was gone with Wooly's departure.
Agree, Woolly was the soul of the band. RIP

" BJH. - the Best " !
I love BJH, but on the video seems nothing having to do with the song. :-(
ach Gott - wie iss des schä
whoever called this band poor mans moody blues was totally outta touch with music. FACT !!!
they called themselfs pmmb in the song its half tribute and half self defacing its britsh northern humour
I like 'em better than the Moodies. They ROCK!
ist das nicht der hammer... nur leider nicht... die aufnahme
