The Palestinians inspired me to read the Quran; and once I started reading it, I was like ... "YUP! This is the truth!!" Halfway through reading it, I knew I was going to take my shahada. It was the first time I felt like God (swt) was speaking directly to me. Reading the Quran brings me so much peace. It's incredible; the greatest thing I've ever read.

I reverted Friday, Feb. 23rd of this year. I'm 57 years old living in Montreal. I wasn't a religious person but believed in God and without outside influence always believed Jesus was another messenger NOT the son of God. Then with very little research I just decided that particular winter day to go to my local mosque. I felt pulled there that day, guided if you will. I took my Shehada and it's the best decision I've ever made. Only later did I realize it was the 23rd and a Friday. I was born the 23rd of June on a Friday. ALLAH(SWT)guides whom he will. And yeah, reactions have been varied. I ran from the embrace of the community at first too, I couldn't process it and disappeared for 4 months. Back to the Masjid to pray and lessons. May ALLAH keep you ALL steadfast in the Deen on the straight path. Alhamdulillah!

Reverted from reading Quran too, I take it as a personal invitation from Allah :) no one did dawah with me, nothing. The Quran came to me, I read it, I accepted it, it cleaned my mind out, enforced my beliefs, corrected my beliefs... Quran is my companion.

When the Quran was first revealed, the commandment for new muslims was first to not approach prayer while drunk... the commandment not to drink alcohol at all came later. People have to be eased into things, you can't change overnight. All the best to you, and welcome to the faith, brother

For the first 10 years Prophet Muhammad s.a.w only preached that there's only 1 God.

I absolutely love this. What a beautiful, fantastic comment and one I needed as someone who has been thinking about converting to Islam for months but never felt ready because I thought I would never be perfect, and I needed to be perfect first, otherwise I would be dishonouring a religion I’ve come to revere so much.
As silly as it sounds, I needed to be reminded of the existence of the first Muslims, and how they were not born into the religion but converted. That they weren’t immediately perfect, because just like me, they had accumulated a lifetimes worth of bad habits that they had to work on from being non-Muslims previously too. But that Allah gave them a grace period when revealing certain commandment because He knew immediate change would be too difficult and overwhelming for the new Muslims to adapt to. Although, He could have willed it if He so desired, He instead weaned them towards a better path and a better way-His way-little by little, with the patience and mercy only The Creator can have for His creations.
      Thank you. 🤲🏻

As a muslim i would say that we should only worry about how Allah will judge us and not worry about people. Most of the Muslims like 80%-90% who are born muslims don't follow the teachings of slam correctly, haven't read the Quran or even pray obligatory 5 prayers which are just the basics. New reverts are better muslims comparatively.

where are you getting your figures 80% - 90%?. ..that dont follow teachings of islam .....dont pray 5 obligatary prayers etc
how did you know what every individual person is doing/beleiving? or what beilief is in their heart?
i notice how at the end of your post how you made a judgement yourself
sometimes it is better just to remain silent

Salaam alai kum! I can relate to what you are saying. I reverted while reading the Qur'an. Alhumdulillah! The first day of Ramadan of that year at asar prayer at a local mosque, i took the shahada. I lost all my friends as a result. My neighbours they all laugh at me behind my back. Even my family did not approve. And went out of their way to make that Ramadan and life difficult for me. I have lost potential relationships and job opportunities. I was tested from the very beginning. But when you see the truth as clearly as day light. You can't help it but stand your ground. Alhumdulillah " Glory be to God " for making me Muslim. I will die in Islam.

Welcome to Islam my brother. I’m happy for you that you saw the beauty of the Quran. I am a white Muslim woman who moved to Egypt 18 years ago. When I was young I got tattoo’s and living in a Muslim country you would think they would be weird about it, but that’s not true at all. I left America that many years ago because it really got tiring to constantly defending myself against hate. It’s tougher being a woman Muslim because you are identified fast for wearing hijab. It is good you are young and able to teach people there that we are a peaceful people. Now I am 60 years old, to sick and old to defend myself against so much hate in America. I live a peaceful life among people who believe the same way I do. I have so much support in a loving community, and a family oriented country. I can’t tell you how many times in America they kept telling me to go back to my country, LOL….Especially when I served my country during the first Iraq war, which is what helped me find Islam in the first place. May Allah bless you and keep you safe, because being Muslim and living in America will be a type of Jihad, a true examination of yourself and the struggles you will experience because of your choice to be a Muslim.

Don't worry about other people, Non muslims, and even believers because some of them can be judgemental and will pressure you to be a "better" Muslim. They will preach on how to practice islam properly, but in reality, they are the biggest hypocrites. Small minority in the Ummah are like this from my experience. You have completed your first pillar, and that's your belief in Monotheism and Allah's messengers. Now, just try focusing on educating yourself on the Qur’an and Sunnah. Also, work on your arabic since it is the language used in Islam. It's a gradual process, and don't rush yourself. Next thing you know, you will be fulfilling your second pillar, which is prayer. Prayer for me has changed my life, I need it as much as oxygen now. Salah is key to your peace and growth. It is a complete benefit to you. May Allah reward you my brother and grant you Jannat Al Firdaus

Maashaa'Allah your journey and talks are very inspiring. You're not only helping non Muslims but Muslims as well. Just a note, be cautious of pictures in the house, anything that has human shapes, whether it's a photo, poster, doll - Angels of Allah do not enter that space and that leaves space for bad things to enter. Rather put up Islamic calligraphy, Inshaa'Allah. Also, as you said you're still learning and that's just fine. Remember in the time of Prophet Muhammad SAW it took around 15 years for certain laws to come about such as no alcohol allowed because they first needed to reach a certain level of faith. It's a journey between you and Allah as a revert.

Your words and encouragement are and is beautiful. I am happy I was born into Islam and as I get older I clutch that much more in our faith. I know I’m not in hijab, but I’m working towards it. There are personal hills and valleys we take on daily and that’s ok. I remember the Ayat that says, “Your Lord wishes to make religion easy for you. It is man that makes it hard.” It could not be more plainer than that. And if someone wants to be a Muslim and is not ready to shout it out to the world, that’s their choice, but reversion and being included is what is most important. You got to shore up your heart because this world, even some Muslims will make it hard at times for you to be you. I’ve never been the type to follow, because I am no a sheep. My father taught me that it’s best to be a leader not a follower. I also grew up around many faiths and still kept mine, no matter what. So good on you and I wish you much success. But you want to know what is a challenge? Finding a spouse. The love of Allah is sufficient for me, but I would also like a forever husband. Now, let me go find a Muslim husband…

I love your honesty may Allah reward you. Thank you for vocalizing the nuances we experience as reverts. I empathize hard on the aspect of getting love and support and not being used to it or know how to handle it. I still struggle with that but it's getting better alhamdulillah. May Allah make it easy for reverts ❤

You are my brother. I don't care for your tattoos or your skin. I care about your heart, intent, and Taqwa. I'm a born muslim, my challenges are different, however you inspire.
This world is a test, death is certain. All of us will meet allah. Are you ready for it brothers and sisters? So focus on yourselves and help one another. Fight ibless. The devil is real and is the only enemy. Evil is a test. Focus on yourselves! May Allah strengthen you all.

Please don't feel uncomfortable when many people approach you with various reactions about being Muslim. If they are negative, remember to always be kind as you might be the first muslim they have ever encountered. The interaction will leave a tremendous effect on that person believe it or not, and you are committing a good deed.

I love you bro . I’m a born Muslim but was raised in a very small traditional North American town with first generation immigrants that were too busy surviving to really teach me Islam . At 16, I read the Quran for the first time and it was an incredible miraculous experience for me . This Book was literally reading my mind . I get chills thinking about this as I write this . Allah totally reverted me to Islam through his book and I’ve never looked back for the past four decades of my life . I’m so proud to call you my brother now . I hope Inshallah I can see you in Jannah one day bro ❤

To be honest your doing good you already understand things some Muslims don’t understand and you explain it so well. May god help you in your journey don’t worry too much about other Muslims judging. Converts are lot like the prophet (peace be upon him) companions. They were going thru a lot and building little by little there Islamic practices. I also saw Muslim who are not practicing and are very judgmental when they themselves and there families only follow tradition not the word of Allah. They feel embarrassed from other people in the culture who follow tradition that are contradictory to Islamic practices. So they need to actually get there life in order before judging others

Revert stories are my absolute favorite!
I was born into a Muslim country, so I never really got to experience islam through the lense of a lost person who has found purpose in life. And although I've always loved my religion, the way reverts talk about it makes me love it even more.
I just wanna say that I'm extremely happy for you, may allah swt continue to bless and protect you.

I was attacked by a Jinn at night because the day before I had a random thought of praying like my husband does, he’s Muslim by the way. The first night I was attacked, I asked help from God and it went away in a few seconds. That was the moment I realized GOD exists. It was the turning point in my life. I was a headstrong Atheist and IMO only something as serious as Jinn attack would have opened my eyes. I feel very privileged to be invited to Islam by god. I took my Shahada the next day and I never looked back. But the Jinn attacks increased a lot after I took Shahada to the point that I can write a whole book on how Jinns work. The attacks stopped once I started praying everyday and reciting Ayat-ul-kursi everynight keeps me protected. I thank God everyday for the knowledge he has sent me! ..... BUT... I wonder why you didn't mention Jinn attacks as a challenge in the video. Is it rare?

    • @thismissivemisfit
      @thismissivemisfit 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Based on what I know, and stories I heard, there are many possible answers to this: Jinn could have been "contracted" by your ancestors for whatever reason to preserve something in your bloodline, so when you deviated from that path, the Jinn becomes unhappy and starts attacking you in hopes that you turn back. It might also be that certain Jinn attach themselves to you because they like you doing certain things (for example, behaviors or rituals that you once did gave them power) and once you change, they no longer like you and start acting out. Whatever the reason, only The Almighty is the best protection against them, because He created them too.

Your perspective is very helpful to me. What you’re saying makes sense.
Muslims are underdogs in the West.
Interesting thing is that, the peace that you get with a direct relationship with Allah (no middleman) is worth more than everything else.
The Quran says it taught man how to communicate with Allah. Once you’re in the rhythm, it makes everything in life easier (family, work, money, etc.) wish you the best inshallah.

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al-'As:
that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Indeed Allah does not take away knowledge by removing it from the people, but He takes away knowledge by taking the scholars, until there remains no scholar and the people begin to ask the ignorant leaders, so they give their verdict without knowledge. They will go astray and lead the people astray."

Jazak Allahu Khairan brother. May Allah bless you and keep you steadfast in this world and the akhira & may HE make all your affairs easy! Just remember Allah SWT does test people's faith all in the boundaries of what that individual can handle for HE doesn't burden a soul more than it can bear. You're truly an inspiration for us born Muslims as well, believe it or not sadly some Muslims are falling for Satans traps while forgetting Allah Almighty.
