I bought the M6 just about a year ago (Nov 2023). The AI tracking was the deciding factor. So when i bought my Canon R6 MKii, i was looking for the same AI style tracking [built in] The MT2 was a no brainer. I received the MT2 this week and i am going to get everything set up. I do use the Ulanzi F38 QR system, so I'm curious how i can make the 2 work together.

I returned my DJI Mobile 6 because I found it not useful without having a mirrorless camera as an additional choice. I did some research and found/purchased this gimble less than a hour ago. I would like to see how this gimbal runs a normal time lapse project on a mobile phone or a mirrorless camera. Thanks for a detailed review.
same thing happened to me, I bought that gimbal first after some research i got the m6 then sent it back and got this one with heavier payload the m6 is the little brother to this one, for my its the best in the call the a.i tracking is ahead of the the rest, i keep mine in the bag unless i really need it i kinda like it that it can be taken off so it doenst get damaged or lost if the gimbal is stolen.
Thanks compatible as in support the weight of the m50? Yea i would think since it is such a light camera. But check their site to make sure. Regarding the remote function I think you need to use the included cables for it
Good review with good information. I thought it was funny when you said, "paper football sign". What it's commonly known as in filmmaking, is a gesture that directors use when they are framing up a shot with their eyes. Still funny though. EDIT: By the way, I noticed in other videos the AI tracking tended to make the movement change in hard stops. When the gimbal would change directions to follow the subject, it would stop pretty quickly instead of smoothly. Is there a setting to smooth it out?
This is very interesting. I wasn’t sure if you could hook up a DSLR to this, I wanted to know if you knew if there is a device that I could mount my GoPro with my phone on one of these, so maybe I could record a little tighter with my phone and a little wider with a GoPro at the same time……… Thank you for the video
Sounds like it’s this is something you need to rig up yourself. You just need to be able to balance the gimbal to make it work and the gimbal payload is pretty high. Your challenge will be balancing the tilt axis
Hi bro great video here! Just subscribed too! I got one question for you. I own a sony a7iii + tamron 28-75mm f2.8 G2 lens, does it fit well with this MT2? Some shops in my place didn't recommend me to buy this gimbal. I'm a bit worry about the compatibility and the stabilisation... Please guide me, thank you 🙏😍
@@ToasterVentura thank you so much brother! I will be waiting... I was planning to get dji rs3 or osmo pocket 3.. but MT2 is cheaper than those two I mentioned. If I buy osmo pocket 3 it would be a waste to my sony a7iii and my lens too. Will wait for your recommendation 🙂
@agghafur3632 ok no lie I love my osmo pocket 3 bro lol I rarely use my big cameras nowadays and last few videos on my channel are all made with the Osmo pocket 3!
@agghafur3632 I shoot weddings and I use my big camera for static beauty shots with nice bokeh and combine it with slow mo smooth Osmo pocket 3 footage
@agghafur3632 ok dude I did some test and yes the 28-75 with a73 will fit and balance. However… pan axis is not perfectly balance (but won’t affect performance much) and the eye cup area can be tight and you might have to remove the eye cup to avoid hitting the roll motor at the top. If you are careful using it then it will work!
That's a bummer about the plate, do like that the Crane M2S has a proper quick release plate. One other feature that'd be great is if the A/B points could be used in short durations for video rather than just timelapses. You could set two exact compositions with a smooth precisely timed pan and tilt (and a loop mode) for narrative filmmaking, product shots, real estate, etc. like a motorized edelkrone head or put it on a slider to get a really dynamic shot. Really raises the value proposition given how expensive motorized heads are.

Hello! I am really new to filming. I am a Hairstylist and would love a gimbal for the stability, AI function and the tripod function. Do you have any recommendations. Budget friendly is also what I’m looking for. I’m not a “professional videographer” so spending too much wouldn’t be worth it to me but I definitely think a gimbal would help my content.
Hmm you ever think of getting the osmo pocket 3? It’s small and has great image quality and tracking capabilities. The creator combo comes with wireless mic that allows you to talk through the process during recording.
Ahh great question, for the fold which I have the fold 3 the challenge is finding a phone holder that is deep enough to keep the phone secure. The one that comes with the gimbal will do the trick but not super secure. I think mt2 is a great choice because it can do so much compared to other gimbals on the market. I also have the Zhiyun crane m3s as well which can do both. Mt2 is a bit heavier but has more functionality. Can go wrong with either one really!
@ToasterVentura Thanks, man, that clears it up for me! Is this something I will be able to just pop my phone in and start shooting once I get the setup down or is it a pain getting setup every time?
@Lige22 I say most gimbals are a pain to setup even when you have experience with it. Dude you might want to wait for the Dji osmo pocket 3 coming out on Oct 25. That thing might be what you need
Thanks for the great video, Marcus. Silly question - in horizontal mode, could I still use the flip out screen to see what my camera is seeing? Or is that only in vertical mode? Apologies if you covered it in the video - I may have missed it. :)
Yeah buddy! Thanks for watching and the kind comment! Yes I use the flip out screen on both although some motions are limited so you might only fold out the screen 90 degrees max in vertical mode
Have you tried using counter weights? With heavier phone lenses, this is usually needed. Simon Horrocks covers this with the m6 model being one of the few phone gimbals that has a 1/4-20 space for counterweights in this scenario. Mt2 has a heavier payload vs the m6
Hello, thanks for this video! Do you know how to track an object or for example a kid with the Ai, because I did not find it anywhere a good explanation.
@@ToasterVentura thank you for your reply.. Bit sad and very surprised.. Big lack should be some option to keep the focus all the time in a specific object like with the phone.
@@ToasterVentura yeah I do.. I have a sony 6400 I only watched a video where they were doing this lock on the phone so I that was normal feature for camera as well.. Need to find some solution for animal or kids that can't still use a gesture...
Is hohem m6 is value for money in term of reliability of roll button or should go with zhyuin smooth 5s?? Pls advice . Its fill light button looks so delicate and afraid of touching. Looks like it will damage soon😅😅
Hi thanks for the great review! I have quite similar setup, the sony a7c, and the tamron 28-75 f2.8, and it was not clear, that this gimbal can hold this setup or not? At 3:12 the text says "pan - not balanced", does that mean it fails to handle this weight when panning? Because in parallel you mentioned that the only setup you had problem is the 28-200mm... Thanks!
Yeah if your gimbal is balanced well, it should stay comfortably in each axis. If it is flopping back and forth, it means that the lens camera combo is too heavy. You can try using counter weights to help with adjustment. The main thing is to get the camera perfectly balanced on the gimbal, then the motor will have a much easier time operating and will avoid error messages
@lgtoth I got it to work but it is not reliable. So I would say no u less you add some counter weight like tire weights to get it to balance. Then crank up the motor power also
@@ToasterVentura I see, thanks for the reply. It is a shame, because otherwise it is a near perfect gimbal, regarding size and features. You can adjust the motor power?
I think you need to worry about the weight more than bt. The gimbal comes with usb cables of sorts for you to plug into remote triggers. Not sure what your camera and lens combo is
It's all about calibration and unlock 🔓 all gimbal before switch it on. It will do that error if calibration is not good or you move wrongly with the wrong mode.
Can you make a video of this in portrait mode using ICP mode The motors are not steong emough or.tje balance is out has anyone else.tried. portrait mode
I didn’t try scorp mini 2, but mt2 is a pretty big gimbal for a cell phone unless you are gonna cage it out with filter adapter and all that. The Hohem m6 is a good choice too
Yaaaaassss! The Hohem M6 is Sturdy like the Zhiyun smooth 5, but with stronger payload and brilliant AI tracking. The MT2 is slightly larger, byt enen stronger. Stay away from the DJI osmo 5/6 because the motors can't handke the payload. I was looking at insta 360flow, but suspect payload issues there too.
new to gimbles, can you mount this on a tripod & still have it track you? i have a cobra 3 mono & i want a gimble i can place onto it so i can track with higher shots
Hey welcome to my channel! Yes you can mount it on a tripod or a steady monopod and it will track you the same. Some people mount the gimbal on the monopod to make it look like a crane shot
I am wondering if the footage looks strange because it was recorded in 60 fps but this video was uploaded on TH-cam at 30. Is that why the frame rate looks a bit off?
Yo dude good eye, yes majority of the footage was shot in 4k 60 then conform to a 24p timeline. And I wasn't using any ND filters so likely seeing no motion blur as well
@@ToasterVentura @shirakawanaoya I could be wrong but I think it is because of the 24p(fps) video format. First you converted your 60 fps source to 24 fps and this causes some problem. If you convert 60 fps to 30 fps you can just leave out the even or odd frames and all is done, but you can't do this when you convert 60 fps to 24 fps, you need some special technique to do this and this can cause some visual effects. But now we have a 24 fps source on youtube which is watched on screen that runs on 60 Hz or even 120 Hz, so now we have the same problem again, the screens refresh rate don't match with the video refresh rate and this can cause some visual effect, this is called 3:2 pulldown judder. So I think if you create digital video content you should at least upload at 30 fps. I must say, today's screen can have variable refresh rates, for example on pc's watching a 24 fps video (fullscreen?) with a variable refresh rate capable monitor makes that the monitor drops it refresh rate to 24 fps to match the video source.
Good point I might be dating myself but back in the days when I used steadicam on my canon 60d with rokinon 12mm there was no image stabilization at all. Back then the footage looked hella smooth lol but now that I am looking back it was jittery af dude. My point is if you have it, why not use it unless you are shooting Astro or long exposure then you might turn off ibis. Other than that use case where you forgot to turn it back on the next day, my ibis is on 99% of the time
Wont stay unlocked!!!I'm on my second m6 in a week span with the same issue!! They have an issue with the lock button, it will not stay in the unlocked position. Once it rotates a full 360 it automatically locks back. Any suggestions?

@ToasterVentura yeah never knew it's gonna be heavy. I'm planning to get another one with a bigger payload
How heavy is that setup? I’m planning tonuse alternative cage like smallrig or neewer.
You can’t do object tracking the ai only supports subject tracking with the gesture trigger by the person himself
@@ToasterVentura thank you for your reply.. Bit sad and very surprised.. Big lack should be some option to keep the focus all the time in a specific object like with the phone.
@simoneln4109 oh good point if you are using the phone the phone app has tracking. I was thinking you are using this for mirrorless camera!
@@ToasterVentura yeah I do.. I have a sony 6400 I only watched a video where they were doing this lock on the phone so I that was normal feature for camera as well.. Need to find some solution for animal or kids that can't still use a gesture...
When you connect the app with the MT2 from your tablet, is it with wifi or bluetooth?
I recall it was Bluetooth
Thank goodness!🙏😇 Phuuu...😅 Then Im feel safe.😁 Thanks for super quick response!👌💪👏💛 I have subscribed to your channel😉
@fredrikoregard832 thanks!!! Curious why can’t you use WiFi? BT is faster anyways
more manageable with bluetooth than internet connection when you're out and about.😁✌️ thanks again.
Do you think it will work with my Sony zve10/sony fe 16-55 2.8 objektiv ?
Yeah that setup is very light
@@ToasterVentura ty , for fast answer, i have now 2 choice
1.Mt2
2.Dji rs3 Mini. And i dont know :D
@C.Krisztián if you want tracking then go with mt2, if you need a regular but solid gimbal then go with rs3
Thanks for the detailed review ✌
Thanks so much for watching!
what happens if you don't use a cable. I have a fuji XT5 and according to their website Cable or bluetooth isn't available
Well, this gimbal be able to hold a Sony a9 with a Sony 2470 mm lens combo?
@@ToasterVentura I see. So was it possible or not, to balance the 28-75 tamron?
@lgtoth I got it to work but it is not reliable. So I would say no u less you add some counter weight like tire weights to get it to balance. Then crank up the motor power also
@@ToasterVentura I see, thanks for the reply. It is a shame, because otherwise it is a near perfect gimbal, regarding size and features. You can adjust the motor power?
@lgtoth yeah from what I recall you can go into settings and set the motor strength. Keep in mind if you overload the motor it will heat up too
great Video, could you PLEASE explain what you mean with "Ibis" at 12:13min , I tried to google etc but couldnt find what you mean :)
In body stabilization means sensor shift stabilizer on cameras. Cameras like Sony a7c, a7iii etc... all have ibis in body image stabilization
@@ToasterVentura ahhhhh thank you 🙏 now it all makes sense ❤️😎
Nice video thanks!
I have a Canon T6i, is it compatible with cameras that don’t have Bluetooth built in?
I think you need to worry about the weight more than bt. The gimbal comes with usb cables of sorts for you to plug into remote triggers. Not sure what your camera and lens combo is
can it track a subject without gestures? I want to track a player on a tennis or pickleball court
You can use the app to track as well but not sure how good tracking would be from far away
It’s so awesome equipment review ❤❤ love it 😊🎉❤
Thanks buddy!!
great video, please someone knows what is error 03- and 01? i have no idea and i cant use my gimbal. thanks to anyone will help
It's all about calibration and unlock 🔓 all gimbal before switch it on. It will do that error if calibration is not good or you move wrongly with the wrong mode.
@@simoneln4109Thank Youuuu❤
Nice review! Seems a really nice toy!
Yeah it really is!
Can you make a video of this in portrait mode using ICP mode The motors are not steong emough or.tje balance is out has anyone else.tried. portrait mode
Between scorp mini 2 vs hohem mt2, which would you recommend for s22 ultra? I need the best. Please guide me.
I didn’t try scorp mini 2, but mt2 is a pretty big gimbal for a cell phone unless you are gonna cage it out with filter adapter and all that. The Hohem m6 is a good choice too
I'm hearing the Hohem are sturdier than the Scorps.
I'm a noob to gimbles.
Will the mt2 be good for the Samsung Galaxy s23 ultra?
Yaaaaassss! The Hohem M6 is Sturdy like the Zhiyun smooth 5, but with stronger payload and brilliant AI tracking. The MT2 is slightly larger, byt enen stronger. Stay away from the DJI osmo 5/6 because the motors can't handke the payload. I was looking at insta 360flow, but suspect payload issues there too.
that AI thingy works! Many thanks for covering the details.
Cool glad I was helpful!!
This machine is crushing me. I keep getting an error 3 when trying to mount my sony fx3, what am I doing wrong?
I had this same problem, the camera isn’t mounted properly. Check all the axis and make sure it’s leveled correctly that should resold your problem.
@@browser37 I fixed it and felt like I won a championship, lmao. Thanks for the comment bro. But I'm cool now
new to gimbles, can you mount this on a tripod & still have it track you? i have a cobra 3 mono & i want a gimble i can place onto it so i can track with higher shots
Hey welcome to my channel! Yes you can mount it on a tripod or a steady monopod and it will track you the same. Some people mount the gimbal on the monopod to make it look like a crane shot
Best I’m boxing ever
Well done. I like the AI tech. Thank you.
Thanks man
Have done reviewing the hohem m6?
Yeah it’s on my playlist! Check it out

This not available in Dubai
Sorry man get the Zhiyun crane m3s
Mine keeps beeping what is causing that ?
I think it’s motor overloading did you balance it correctly
I think TH-cam has mistaken the M with a K in your subscribers count. Or at least let's say the coma is completely superfluous.
I am just a small potato on TH-cam with something to say that’s all. I appreciate your kind words and support!
I must say, today's screen can have variable refresh rates, for example on pc's watching a 24 fps video (fullscreen?) with a variable refresh rate capable monitor makes that the monitor drops it refresh rate to 24 fps to match the video source.
you are 100% correct I mixed 60 and 30p then edited on 24p timeline so I can also slow down some 30p by 80%. Exported at 24p for TH-cam
If your forget to turn IBIS off it’s no wonder all of your footage looks jittery AF!
M6 or mt2? I would try for warranty first if not I would use gaft tape to hold the button down completely
@@ToasterVentura sorry, m6
@matt9789 hmm I had same issue with my mt2 but that was because I dropped the gimbal on the side and it force unlock the pan axis
No fiz motors.
Mine is overheating and my camera can barely balance please help
If it's overheating its most.likely because of balance issue. What camera lens combo are you using? Is it on their compatibility list?
@@ToasterVentura im currently using Panasonic GH5 - I tried with both the Leica lens and my preferred lens which is a Nikon 35mm 1:1 8G
@@ToasterVentura if I be honest balancing it is harder that explained on videos and the gimbal keeps on showing error 3
Hmm that combo might be too heavy man. I balanced my a73 with a Tamron 18-200 and that was super pushing it.
@@ToasterVentura what do you reckon I should do ? Because GH5 is generally a heavy camera, in the list they said it’s supported so I’m confused and also the cables don’t work for cable control
AI Vision Sensor detaching, easily? Simple solution. "Rubber Band". Problem solved. 😅
Yea and gaff tape!!!
Hello again😊 Do you think Hohem can be trusted? Because concerning the Trustpilot overview is not looking good in first point of view. I getting shillyshally🫤😅 What is your thoughts about the HoHem company and the MT2 product from experience and what grade would you give in ranking grade from one to five stars? Thanks in advance!
I get what you mean since it’s kind of a new brand. I think if you want ai tracking, Hohem mt2 is one of the best out there. But in terms of support and parts, I say DJI has the biggest support network out there due to their size. I had no issues on my MT2 and it’s almost been a year
Great thanks again!☺️
you know what dude, you could have just used a dji osmo pocket 2 for this.... ummmm waste of money and effort. think about that next time. you didnt need this LOL
I have the pocket 2 also lol 😂 tracking capabilities is definitely not the same and sensor size is definitely not the same. Ths being said I think I want to make a video about pocket 2 and why I love it so much
