    THANK YOU SIR for the very informative video on how to field strip, clean, AND put back together a 3rd series of Colt Match Target!!! I just got one from Cabela's a little distance from me but unfortunately, it's just over the state line so had to have them send it to their PARENT COMPANY in my state of residence, I've had my Conceal Carry since 2000 and recently got my 6th issuance back which makes it EASIER to make a weapon purchase, especially with handguns! I noticed while checking it over BEFORE purchasing it that it appeared VERY DIRTY so the first thing I got on the internet and found your video which was very beneficial to my task because it was so DIRTY and DRY that I had to use my small rubber hammer to remove the slide from the frame!!!😮😮😮😢 I probably spent about an HOUR cleaning and lubricating it!!! And stupidly had to take it apart several times because I thought the mag release was jammed but it was already "open" and ready for the insertion of the magazine, stupid me because I also have a series ONE Colt Target pistol and the magazine catch is part of the sear spring which got me CONFUSED for a little bit, I then realized I was getting them confused with each other!!! I had to go back and WATCH YOU putting it together a SECOND TIME!!!😮😢 BUT ALL IS GOOD NOW!! THANK YOU AGAIN, SIR!!!😂😂😂😊

    Thanks for the informative video. I have a 1962 Match Target handed down to me by my father and your video was a great help in field stripping the gun, something I've never done since it's not been used since I inherited it. It'll get used occasionally now but plan to keep it in good shape for the next person who inherits it.

    I got one of these off a friend.. he had purchased it new.. when I got it, it came with some competition/fat wood grips. One of my best target guns. Fun to shoot.

    Great video. Have never disassembled before. Purchased a 3rd generation Match Target from GunBroker. Previous owner must have taken good care of it. No rust. Thanks for great walk through.

    Hey a great 3rd gen replace magazine is the mag for a beratta neos. You only have to mod them by cutting a small square notch out of the back of the plastic mag base to mate with the heel catch!!! Save the original tombstone mag which is worth $110+ used!!!😂😂

      I'll give it a shot thanks. Sounds similar to modifying the triple k ones I normally shoot to keep the OEM pristine. The triple k I have to file down and bend the feed lip area, aloha from Hawaii 🤙

    Help....came apart as video described. Put back as described but something isn't quite right. Does the Sear Spring slip into the little slot in the handle. It looks like it's designed to fit in that slot. OR does it just slip under the Hammer Strut and stay completely inside the handle?

    • @TropicalMint808
      @TropicalMint808  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it fits in the slot how you'd expect, but going back together it will be under tension a bit and want to fall out. Now you've reminded me I need to clean my guns 🤣🤣🤣

    I inherited one of these. It was completely disassembled. Got everything except the little ring piece that I assume goes somewhere near the seer and the manuals don’t really help. Anyone here know?

      check out colt22.com or numrich for the parts diagrams, I can't really picture in my head what ring you're referring to, but good luck 🤞

    Where can I buy a magazine for this kind of gun?

    • @TropicalMint808
      @TropicalMint808  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'd try and find original colt magazines on ebay, but they are expensive. These triple k are bad and require some modification to the feed lips area, but they work. Good luck!

    I thinking of buying a 3rd Generation Match Target and wondering are spares available? Just in case anything breaks. Also anything I should look for when checking it out?

    • @TropicalMint808
      @TropicalMint808  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Paul! I've kept several of my hundred-plus-year old pistols going bang off ebay and numrich gun parts. For the woodsman, original parts are getting expensive and rare but these are sweet pistols. If its complete I would not hesitate. Just be a judge on condition and use your cell phone flashlight to check out the barrel. If it comes with original mags that's HUGE as these are expensive AF! GL! My preferred range pistol after my python!

      @@lescouse nice score! You won't regret owning it. And regarding repairs, these guns are over engineered for the .22lr round in my opinion. Aside from heavy abuse (not use), you will likely only ever need to replace a spring or two (which are not that expense or hard to find) in your lifetime.
      Even ones that have been abused badly seem to keep on ticking. I have one in my collection that was made in 1953 and clearly has had a rough life and it fires perfectly. I haven't had to replace anything on it since I bought it. I also have one from 1938 that was not abused but is well used, runs like a top. I have replaced a few springs just to be safe but that is it.

      @@nickdipaolofan5948 Yeah it’s lovely to shoot! I’m not sure it’s ever been shot much at all, everything is super tight. I’ve been unable to take the slide off so far, because it’s so new. I’ll put a few more boxes,through it and try again. Nice to hear the spares are affordable.

    • @lescouse
      @lescouse ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The recoil spring was forward! Once I pushed the recoil spring back in place, the backstrap just popped back in place. Man the action was always smooth, but now, cleaned and oiled, super smooth.

    • @TropicalMint808
      @TropicalMint808  ปีที่แล้ว

      @lescouse honestly this is a tricky one and I'm so glad you got it! yes very smooth, the best recoil impulse you can get. not super powerful but you'll understand when she goes bang
      Congrats just don't load too many round when you test fire she can go full auto real easy 🤣

    I am having trouble assembling the my colt Matched Target. Several times I put the main spring just like you in the video. Very frustrating. What is the secrete???

    • @TropicalMint808
      @TropicalMint808  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No secret really, but it takes a little finesse to get all the pieces to line up while reassembling, as they tend to fall out of position easily. The small tab on the mainspring should fit into the notch on the frame, and the spur-type thing (cant remember the name off the top of my head) attached to the hammer should be pointed down and resting on top of the mainspring as it sits in the frame. Then take the backstrap/mainspring housing piece and slide it up into the frame to secure the spring - there will be some resistance doing this but you should not have to force it or manhandle it in.
      Good luck!

      @@TropicalMint808 Can you look at the picture of the mainspring. It is in what O believe the correct position to be inserted, can you conform this? Also note where the tang of the main spring passes through the frame, is this correct???
