Tomcats were heavy. As an aircraft director, I remember moving plenty of em that include sliding, broken chains, bent tow bars, and jack knife tractors.
I've seen video of a helo landing on a Coast Guard cutter that was pitching 30', I can't imagine the conditions it would take for a carrier to be tossed like that. Amazing story from a great naval aviator.
He was a legend while alive and now in passing. RIP Snort 🙏 thank you for your service to this great country 🇺🇸
Amazing pilot. Brave man.

I remember the North Atlantic and launching and recovering aircraft, that part of the ocean is so unforgiving. RIP Captain Snodgrass
Slow salute to you, sir. And to the deck crew.

Just have ask, when was Dale on the Connie?
@@stanstenson8168 I don’t think Snort ever served on the Connie. He was an east coast fighter guy and the Connie was a west coast carrier.
@@TomcatTales Lot's of Connie footage, that's why I'm asking.
I guess his scariest moment was in July 2021.
Even the best can make the biggest mistakes... ☹️
