- About 20 years after the Chicago Bulls selected Michael Jordan 3rd overall in the 1984 NBA Draft, they would select the topic of today’s video 3rd overall in the 2004 NBA Draft, another junior shooting guard, this time out of UCONN, named Ben Gordon. Gordon became Chicago’s most exciting scorer until Derrick Rose’s arrival in the 2008 NBA Draft, and when Rose quickly became Chicago’s star of the future, it Gordon’s impressive contributions were less and less appreciated. He wasn’t a perfect player and could definitely leave you frustrated at times, but he never shied away from the big moment and was Chicago’s top offensive player in their first period of winning post-Michael Jordan. He was one of the league’s best sixth men over his first half decade, yet spent a lot of time as a starter and excelled in that role as well. He left Chicago for a big contract in the middle of his career, but soon after beginning his time with the Detroit Pistons, he suffered a significant ankle injury which stole some of his speed and quickness that made him so dangerous, and as he lost his first step he started relying more and more on the outside shot, and while he was dangerous from deep, it made him more predictable and one dimensional, and he was phased out after a few years, then bounced around a couple more teams before ending his career at just 32 years old. Sadly, his life has taken a darker turn without basketball as he has been in and out of jail due to mental health struggles with Bipolar Disorder which have also gotten him hospitalized. Ben Gordon has had his troubles adjusting to life after basketball and living with his demons, but it’s likely even harder for someone like him to return to regular life, as in his prime he was a fan favourite whether he was on your team or torching your team, Ben Gordon was fun to watch.

He should`ve stayed in Chicago, once he left he fell off the map.
Bulls didn't want to pay him.
Man him and MVP d rose would have given those Miami heatles teams all they wanted in a series
GENTLE BEN.
Last games I ever recorded on VHS were the Big East and NCAA tournament games from 2004. That was when I was all about UConn.
One of my favorite players in the 2000s. Professional scorer. I remembered those years when I would amuse myself by the thought of how "Gordon" sounds like "Jordan," and where Deng is Pippen, Hinrich is Kerr, and Nocioni is Kukoc lol. Very mediocre but fun and young Bulls teams.
He was cold. Loved SGs growing up.
Ben Gordon and Jamal Crawford were my favorite iso heavy shooting guards of the mid 2000s.
He should have took that money the bulls offered him before Rose got there
Once he left Chicago it was all downhill for Ben Gordon.
Ben Gordon's game was so herky jerky with his bouncy crossover moves & lethal hezi that freed up his floaters and high releasing jumpshot.
i just realized you sad derrick rose maan.... 😢😢😢😢
One of my favorites players in college and the nba. Hope he stay healthy man. Much love to Ben Gordon.💪🏿💪🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
The split of Gordon and the bulls was bad for both sides as many believe the bulls would have won the title if he stayed. I would have had him as the 6th man on that 2011 team. He would still get 30mpg as Bogans only played 18mpg as a starter.
I remember Ben Gordon as a Piston 😂 they paid him and Charlie V in the 2009 Offseason i think
Unfortunately I know too many cats that end of B Gordon........
What about a video on Kiki VanDeWeghe. Forgotten stsr and score from the 80s
Former NJ Nets Player
I think it’s time for a Kevin Pittsnogle vid
Why in the world do I remember that name lol did he play for UConn?
Do one on deshawn Stevenson
Thank you 😊
AVERAGED 20PPG on 38%threes in playoffs, should have stayed with Bulls bombing threes after Rose drove into lane...
Ben Gordon was a solid shooter guard who is from England. He remembered he was drafted by the Bulls. He was to only player to win 6th Man of the Year Award as a rookie. Then, all of the sudden; he had disappeared from the league.
Imagine him off the bench with a rising Star in Drose. He was definitely a fireball of offense we needed. Just wish he didn’t leave so soon
You should do Jason Richardson next 💯
Ben waiting for this
Cold Midrange
ice in his veins.
@@acornsucks2111: This man was not afraid!
Was the 2009 series when the Celtics cheated and hit Brad Miller in the mouth ? changing the whole momentum of the series
Yea, rondo smacked the shit out of Brad, clearing swinging at the head.
@@seven3oh Yeah , that was wack … I wasn’t rooting for either … but Chicago was winning that series , it was in the bag … but a lot of questionable things happened that worked in Bostons favor
Gratitude for sharing.
Fam was highly skilled.
I think he was on one of the UCON teams I saw at The Alaskan Shootout.
Peace to anyone dealing with maintaing mental health. I've been dealing with it since a child.
You rushing through the video. Who are the players on the teams he lost to, who are his teammates on his “loaded roster?”
He was Kemba Walker at UConn before Kemba, Ben and Gilbert had the same type of game both tweeners because of their size at 6'2 or 6'3 but man if they got hot 🔥 good luck!
Just imagine if the organizations he went to were into development, he had to go off skill lacking team & player management, especially the Bulls.. often seeking talent to waste.
It is sad to hear that he is struggling with his mental health issues. Ben was a great player and a good person. He found a place in Chicago, but it seems that neither he nor the team understood exactly what they had.
As a Bulls fan, I remember a lot of his career. He was one of the best sixth men in the league at the time.
On a good night Ben could light it up out there on that court
Yess legit talent, I really never understood why he regressed so bad
Great video coverage 💯 wish Ben would've stayed with the Bulls
Does anyone have a source on the claim that Fulks had some kind of vehicle accident?
Started smoking PCP and lost his fucking mind
