Handling also seems to be very good.
The engine noise is a little loud.

The engine noise doesn't bother me. A Prius is a commuting car used in traffic. Car reviewers floor cars all over the place because it looks and sounds exciting, but that's not the way the car will be driven 99% of the time. I expect the Prius will be very quiet in realistic use and if it makes a bunch of noise when you floor it up a ramp, whatever, that's just amusing.
@@aluisious that being said I'd prefer a little less tyre noise and a better engine sound perhaps. I put sound treatment all through my older gen and it's not too bad. Still not luxury quiet though

With the recent 60% increase in electricity prices, this car has become much cheaper to run than an electric car. About 6 cents per mile compared to 13 cents per mile for a Tesla Model 3.
Electricity in Massachusetts is 29 ¢/kWh. ICE or HEV vehicle makes more $ sense here than PHEV or BEV.

Put 2500 miles on mine in about 2 months. Easiest car I have ever lived with. Basically drives itself and always stay above 50mpg and I’m a 28 year old male who is always going with the speed of traffic never trying to hyper mile

The only concern is that there's no rear wiper, just like the ev6 and the ionic 5 I don't get it why they cancel such an important feature on a family vehicle. Is this a trend now?
well, to make look clean, I guess, weird how did they delete the wiper ngl.
@@geatsuneee to be fair the amount of times I used the rear wiper is very small and I don't have a reverse camera either.
i feel like yeah its a trend since newer car model has a backup camera feature on the middle mirror in the car
I wonder how firm must be the grip on the steering wheel so that the adaptive cruise control can detect that you are holding it? is it
capacitive and it detects a touch.. or you must squeeze or wiggle the steering wheel? Can I just rest one finger on it ???
Toyota systems detect a torque acting against the automatic steering system and interpret that as the driver holding onto the wheel. There is a video of a guy who drove from San Diego to Portland in a RAV4 and looped a ratchet strap around the side of the wheel and as far as the car knew that was him holding on.
I drove from Corpus Christi to Austin, about 2.5 hours, and I found it relatively comfortable to hang onto the wheel with a couple fingers with my elbow on the center rest to let the system know I was still there.

Nice car, a ton of road noise. I imagine all of that sound insulation they use on quiet cars weighs too much and would pull down the gas mileage.
Eco tires are also hard and make a lot of noise. The 19 inch wheels are way less than ideal, basically a stupid size we have to live with because mouth breathers think big wheels look cool.
@@aluisious you could always put 17's on it afterwards. Annoying that you can't spec them on a higher trim

At least you can throw some Pilot AS tires on the 17s. That will also improve the ride.
Was the heads-up display blocked in your line of sight while driving or was it ok? That has been my biggest gripe based on reviews.

The continuously variable transmission is compatible with the hybrid system, but this sound is the worst.
That's subjective. I know what the car is doing and why, so it doesn't bother me.
@@aluisious I don't mind the way it works but the engine tone isn't the greatest. If the engine doesn't sound that great, I'd like to hear less of it. They should make a luxury version with sound treatments :)

Toyota could adopt a Tesla-inspired steering wheel layout. This would improve the visual and make the cockpit lighter, not to mention that it would bring a feeling of real modernity.

Good looking car on the outside, and the center stack is fine but holy shit that steering wheel and gauge "pod" are horrific, absolutely terrible. Its plain as day that this is a car for people that dont give a shit about driving a car.
I disagree; I find regular through wheel clusters not any better if not worse.

The engine is very loud and has no power, only hear it roaring, the overall sound insulation is not good, highway noise, wind noise is very loud, yes, this is very Prius!

This is not a premium vehicle. This is an reliable economy car with best-in-class fuel efficiency that looks sexy and go fast.
