- More than 50 people were arrested at two New York colleges as pro-Palestinian protests continued around the country. At Columbia University, there were new questions about who took part in the protests and occupation, with officials saying many of them were not students. NBC News' Erin McLaughlin reports.

how is it a hate crime to burn an israeli flag when its literally legal and free speech to burn an american flag.
I’m a Jewish Israel supporter, and it shouldn’t be a hate crime. Hate crimes in general are pretty stupid. The Star of David makes it a hotter flash point, and we all know this is a religious battle at its core, radical Islam vs the easiest target in this case, but the burning of a flag is freedom of expression, full stop. Would I hire him? No, I would not, and that is in fact the beauty of free expression.
You know why. Same reason the entire country police are cracking down on college students protesting with such urgency, yet they did nothing about BLM riots, January 6, border crossings EtC.
Israel is a genocidal ethnofascist apartheid state.
Conflating Israel with a diverse worldwide diaspora is antisemitic in and of itself.

Protesting is fine. Camping, defacing, occupying builds are not fine. Its not a question of whether their stance on the issue is right or wrong. There are many others who are either pro Israel or simply dont care and just want to go to school. Their protest against an issue shouldnt infringe on the rights of other students.

These are the bottom of the barrel, and all of the other students working hard to actually learn something can spot them a mile away. The real insanity are these sociology professors who believe they know better, when they themselves are total failures as actual human beings. Sociology professors are the result of helicopter parents, montisorie schools and permissive idiots who all should have been investigated by real child services organizations. This is a direct result of participation awards and lax parenting where the parents are NOT parents but life buddies and friends. This is also a direct result of single mothers demanding their rights and child support so that they can be free to do whatever they want.
Simple fact: Personal responsibility and consequences are NOT being taught anymore. These students are free to destroy, make demands, and lie and steal from anyone or anything, all in the name of their rights. YOUR RIGHTS, AND THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF ACTUALLY LIVING IN A FREE SOCIETY DO NOT MATTER TO THESE PEOPLE!

The occupation of Hamilton Hall, Shafik says, was a violent act. It wasn't nearly as violent as aiding in the flattening of the universities in Gaza... which, at least by implied extension, was what the students were protesting. The hypocrisy of the university administrators is UNBELIEVABLE. What is the going price of a university president's soul, anyway? Somebody seems to have bought a lot of them.

@@IMBLACKDAMMIT From what I saw on TV, I conclude that that there was quite a bit of violence on Jan 6. However, there has often been violence, some of it noble but some of it not. There was a lot of looting and violence during the George Floyd BLM protests in cities all around the country. The American Revolution was extremely violent. So was the Civil War. So was the war for Irish independence from Britain after Britain had genocided the Irish 65 years before. Violence is not necessarilly a bad thing, but it often is a bad thing but sometimes is necessary. The Zionist attack on the UCLA students was brutal and savage. By the way, there are a ton of Jewish professors, intellectuals, and TH-cam hosts who strongly oppose Israel's genocide... and make no mistake, Israel is committing genocide.
