- Nova Scotia is not just an Ocean Playground, in fact, there are endless interior adventures waiting to happen just outside the city limits. Follow Noah as he explores the backcountry lakes and rivers that this beautiful province has to offer.
Episode 1: The theme for this trip was whitewater, lots of whitewater. Noah joins up with Dave Greene and Lesley as they run a 25 km section that drops 80 m in elevation.

Seeing that beach again takes me back, it's where my grandfather and I set-up camp and fished in the early 80s
Loved seeing the beach too. Haven't been there in 25 years. I doubt it is the biggest I land beach in NS though. I have camped on some pretty nice ones in Digby and Yarmouth counties. Great vid though 😎👍

Sweet ride in the cold month of April. Brings back memories of rides when water levels allowed passage, but water temperature was a risky venture. You were in a wet suit, but your companions appeared to be comfortable with rubber boots and insulated clothes, something I’d fear in a roll over in cold cold water. Nicely done in a wilderness light on traffic! A Nova Scotia wilderness! Sorry to hear of canoe wound...thank goodness for duc tape! Thanks for sharing!

You guys did great under the circumstances. As a canoe guide for about 50 years (WW & easy water) I suggest you outfit your boats for the river before a you make a similar trip and also learn and practice a few WW specific strokes. I think you'll have more fun if that is possible. Fantastic trip here, thanks for sharing your adventure. btw, Dave Green's perogies, bacon, mushrooms and onions dinner is a meal fit for a King, yumm! Go Green Adventures!

Awesome trip. I do some tripping myself. I did the Cains River in NewBrunswick several times. Once with my sister in May and we ran into -5 degrees Celsius. We were wet and got very cold.

Worth the agony for that kind of fishing. I say make this a regular yearly trip, just maybe add a spray deck. I see one in your future. Bet no mosquitoes were biting you through that dive suit and best of all it helps you float if you fall out. Good job everyone. Epic trip.
Thanks Tina, a spray deck would have definitely come in handy. The wetsuit was also one of the best decisions I made on this trip. Really helped in the cold water. Thanks for watching! :)
Thanks for the video! Great watch. We did a day trip there. Started where you did and got out at Sixth Lake and walked back along the road to the car. It was some of the worst portaging I've ever done. Can't wait for the next paddling season with a healed foot.

Hey Guy, thanks for the Sub! Currently working on a detailed map of the route. We started at River Lake and took out at Highway 7 at the bottom of the Tangier River.

I dont know how you guys do this! I portage all the time and will be going in solo for 2 weeks coming up and I am always afraid to ruin my canoe going through whitewater like that! Those are some boulder mine fields, I cant imagine
On longer trips you always have to be more careful about the consequence of folding your canoe. Especially when solo. Thanks for watching and enjoy your trip!

Great Video, tough trip. There was a guy in the Northwest territories who made canoe decks to order. They are nylon and custom fit to the canoe ( since there are always some variations in seat placement etc).. I got one for my 17 foot Old Town Penobscot for a trip down the Bonaventure river in the Gaspe. It was worth every cent and not really very expensive. I don't know if he is still in business. You sure could have used one on this trip.

@@NorthernScavenger I think it was made by north water, it was quite a few years ago and I see they are a lot more expensive... there is a good discussion here on spray covers:

The cover can be a nuisance if you need to get out of the boat in a hurry, and some people prefer a partial cover on the front of the boat,as you will see from the discussion page. cheers, dkm
5 star video , thank you. Question, when the wet suit was frozen , would dunking it in the water to thaw it out been a good move before putting it back on?
Thank you! The water would have worked but after a couple jumping jacks, the suit thawed out and I warmed up.
Did you move out to Nova Scotia Noah? Regardless, I really enjoyed this video and your off the grid cabin in Nova Scotia video. It's interesting to see another part of this great country.

i have checked out a lot of your videos and the content is great. i am trying to figure out why you dont have significantly more subscribers. the only thing i would do differently would be to make videos at least 30-60 minutes. if you did this i would think your subscribers would increase significantly. and maybe add some more cooking to the videos also. as far as the subject matter of the videos......it is perfect.....just make them longer and add more cooking. great channel......take care.....

Me and my withe water canoe expedition club friends never goes without flotaison security and trow bags. Without it its to easy to lost a canoe or wrap it on rock.
I know this video is a little older but if you happen to see this comment a tip I learned while whit water camping in a wetsuit in October is to fill your suit and boots with hot water before putting it on, lifesaver in frosty morning

Great looking trip. We usually get snow on our April trips. Where did you get the map that is featured in the Video? Been looking for it on line with no success.
Just realized that its the topo. I don't think there is a map of the wilderness area like the map of the Tobeatic.

youll smell the creatures before you here or see them.............
lot of canoes destroyed on this river, bugs are some of the worst in the province and into June you would not be able to run the river like you did due to lower water, protection from what?, government is our biggest threat, I live here, we only used these areas for logging, hunting and fishing
pine oil heated bio char from fire would patch it.
why are you not eating the fish you catch...very annoying
Looks epic. I personally always say, it isnt an adventure until you portage with no trail, and the campsite ( if you find one) looks like it hasnt been used in years. Love this stuff. Cheers, and happy paddling.
