Caribbean Moments shows a different side to the Caribbean. Everyone visualises sand, sunshine and palm trees - but hardly anyone really discovers what lies behind them. In fact an unbelievable variety of cultures, music and religions has developed as a result of the different influences - African, Indian, English, French and authentically Caribbean. In this episode we visit the island of Guadeloupe.

Could you please do a look at the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico 🇵🇷? I lived there for 2.5 years back in the 70s, after I married my husband who was from P.R. I was blessed to see almost all of the island, not just the beautiful beaches.
Once, during a day trip to El Yunque, (the tropical national forest) we were having a picnic & listening to some Led Zeppelin, when this little dark brown face with a slender body appeared at the edge of our blanket and stared at us! I can't tell you exactly what it was, all I know is it was a member of the weasel family. It might have been a pet ferret or stoat that somebody turned loose, for all I know. After an incredible moment of pure animal curiosity, it slipped back into the dense foliage that surrounded us.
Please consider my request! And mention El Morro if you do. It's the 500+year old fortress that guards the harbor in San Juan. It's iconic, & a great place to get an up close view of cruise ships as they enter & depart from the harbor. It's an awesome place to picnic and fly kites too! :^)
Edit: it's kinda funny - I just realized a moment ago that TODAY it is exactly 50 years to the very day we got married. I joined him in P.R. 2 weeks later, and began a grand adventure.
The memories lasted, but the marriage didn't.

While we British were slowly deconstructing our empire, France was secretly keeping their.... they are the last colonial power.
