One of the greatest pop songs ever written...somehow I never get tired of it. Richly deserved honor, and what an INCREDIBLE partnership that has continued to this day!!
one of the catchiest tunes, of all time...with that Christmas-y sounding-keyboard hook from McDonald. And in spite of how catchy it is, I NEVER grow tired of hearing it...never. Aretha Franklin did her due diligence with it, and really made it sparkle and pop. But there is NOTHING like the original. Loggins and McDonald are legends. And they seem to be part of an era and generation, where songwriting and song production, was a literal, art form. That is no longer the case in music today..IN ANY GENRE.
Definitely agree about the writing and production. It’s a lost art. I’m glad my parents were baby boomers, so I can have and appreciation for real music artistry.
Ol blue eyes had a firm grip on the gold lol! Congrats to 2 of the greatest artists of all time. Michael McDonalds voice is as smooth & soulful as anything I’ve ever heard. They both were a huge part of my youth, just incredible talent. A well deserved Grammy.
Thanks for the great love ❤️ and support you show me as a special fan of mine😍, I hope you won't stop listening to tracks , and thanks for your sincere Compliment and love towards my tracks ❤️may God bless you.
Because Michael collaborated with Kenny alone on it. This particular award was given to the songwriters. Incidentally, the story about it starts on page152 of Michael's new memoir, WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES. I'm reading the book this week.
I just watched a documentary on Brian Wilson from The Beach Boys and he said that this song scares him. Brian didn't really elaborate but he included this song in a list of things that scared him lol

Friends - here is the original recording of 'What a Fool Believes' sung by Kenny Loggins. It's fun! Please enjoy! th-cam.com/video/5Rg0HXctQUI/w-d-xo.html
They some none shavin muthas huh? Ha. On a serious note, this is when Grammys had REAL talent in the audience. Great song and great clip of 2 talent men who deserved the award. Question, why they weren’t given 2 awards?? So they gotta share it??
Thanks for sharing! If you have a minute, we posted some original blues songs. As fellow music fans, we'd love if you'd check it out. It's on our channel. Don't be too tough on us :)
Back when the Grammys were watchable!
You'd have no idea just hearing the normal speaking voices of Loggins and McDonald that they can sing so darn well.
😂
I didn't know Kenny Loggins was involved in this. My respect for him was already high but learning this this made me respect Loggins soooo much more.
Yep.Hes name is listed on the songwriting credit
I'm sure he can rest easy now, knowing that you have respect for him
Indeed, he co-wrote the song and made a version himself. I recommend it, it is very good too.
One of my MOST favorite songs and singers ever
Same here.😊😊
This was when the Grammys had class
yes, too many freaks now

Hear! Hear!
AS much as I like Kenny Loggins Loggins version of this song sounded like a garage Band Compared to the Doobie Brothers Version
Definitely agree about the writing and production. It’s a lost art. I’m glad my parents were baby boomers, so I can have and appreciation for real music artistry.

Michael MacDonald was so handsome and his humbleness is endearing.
Used to sing it to my baby Daniel in his car seat on errands. 1978.❤❤❤❤
Huge love for both of them. Literally my fave male vocalists!
He was right about shaking Bill Champlin's hand.
After the love is gone is an incredible tune!
yes a racist decision
@@gerrydooley951what are you even talking about?

Thought Foster wrote that....

I love this song, it is one of my favorites and a duet with kenny loggins sounds perfect
Checkout the Redwood gig; it's an utterly sublime rendition of the song.
@@keyboarddancers7751That duet is incredible. I was amazed by their voices and the harmonies they made together.
This is the 1979 Grammys. 1980 song of the year was Sailing by Christopher Cross
Back when the masters performed their music instead of it being produced
they untill this day,are together like brothers in the music !!
Is that Donna Summer presenting the Grammy award?

Brilliant song, strange I always had the impression Kenny Loggins was kind of the size of Prince, he was really tall.

Tough one. After the love is gone by EW&F, written by Foster, Grayden and
Champlin was equally deserving.
