    Lovely fly, Davie. You said something that grabbed my attention---that is, tear off the tip of the hackle with confidence. Thanks for mentioning that little gem of wisdom!!! We have no trout where I live (Chicago, Il., USA) but I enjoy watching your technique. By the way, I've been tying for only a year now. I tied my first fly at the ripe old age of sixty!!! I'm hopelessly addicted!!!)))). Thanks again, Davie........

    I tied this simply because I liked the style, Irish Shrimp like, I have the utmost confidence in it. Great fly for the Blackwater, summer time in the smaller sizes! My secret weapon for grisle, and the big ones love it too! This pattern has made my day many a time!! Thanks a mill Davie, This wealth of knowledge really is invaluable!

    Hello Davie McPhail. This season, this fly has worked very well. She caught the fish on 4 and 5 kg. I am very happy. Thank you so much!

    This is very very cool!! Most use single hook shrimp here in Nova Scotia. But I like this one a lot! It would be very cool if you could do a video on tying the Gordie's Shrimp. A staple Shrimp pattern here in NS for Atlantics.
    Thanks
    Chris

    Nice fly Davie i note you always tie the tail in at the tip i find tying in at the stem makes the tail flare out more making it a bit more lively when swimming,
    Do you think there is a case for doing this way or do you feel the fly is better of tied with the tail feather tied in at the tip?

      Hi sigurdur olafsson,
      I'm glad you liked the fly and use whatever you have and peacock sounds good...

    Hi Erik
    i don't know what Davie use.
    I have good experience with a product which is called"acid dyes" by the company Jaquard . It is the color of silk or similar materials, is inexpensive and easy to handle.
    As fixer you can use simple vinegar from your kitchen.

      @DavieMcPhail  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Timothy,
      I do have a few other capes that I use on these flies as well as the Chinese, I like some of the Whiting capes and saddles that make great flies..
      All the very best Davie
