- In this video I make a box scraper to clean up the inside corner of turned boxes. The handle is a recovered piece of maple from an old table top. The ferrule is made from a piece of Copper pipe from the local box store. And, the tool steel I used is a piece of high speed steel I found on Amazon for about $12. Total cost for this is about 15 bucks! Shape the tip however you like for a fast and easy custom tool

That looks and works great! I've spent a lot of time when I make my tool handles. I always know what the tool is by the handle as they are all different. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the comment and I'm glad you liked the video!
Keep uploading videos this is really great

Great video you earned my sub
Glad you liked it!
Thank you sir 🍻
You're very welcome!
Real cool !
Thanks!
I realize that this video is 2 years old, but if you happen to see this, would you mind telling me the top and bottom angles you used. Thx. Great content.
No worries. All my scrapers are ground the same way. 15 degree top bevel and 55 degree main bevel for an included angle of 70 degrees. If you burnished the edge of the scraper it will last longer. I have a video on using a burnishing rod if you look for it
I wanna see more! Plz! Mr!
I'll try to add more videos soon

Hi, watched a video on Pinerest you made for making ornaments. Can you tell me what you used in the headstock and tailstock to hold the ornament after you drilled what appeared to be 3/8 hole in each end. Thanks
They are pen centers. Specific centers (drive and live) for turning pens between centers instead of using a pen mandrel
could you tell me what kind of HSS is good for woodturning? or any HSS will do?
Any HSS will work for woodturning. HSS comes in many grades. Generally speaking the harder the steel the longer the edge will last. There's definitely some debate if the more expensive grades are worth the extra cost.
@@ScottsMiniWoodshopthank you for your kind explanation.
There's too many HSS's grade and I'm kind of confused. Grad to know any will work.
@@nakanaka6973you should be able to find M2 grade HSS pretty easily. It's what most inexpensive lathe tools are made from. It's my understanding that most unmarked HSS is M2. It should work perfectly for making a scraper
@@ScottsMiniWoodshop ok.I will buy one.
Thank you very much.
Can you make a globe world with recine & wood....
probably
Super master
Thank you so much
