  • Do you want to recover from your stroke fast? If you do then this video can help you.
    Disclaimer. This type of therapy for stroke is not for everybody. First you need to meet a few criteria’s. You should be able to extend your rest, finger and thumb 10°. You must also be able to pick up a tissue paper or a washcloth with your stroke arm. And most importantly you must be very motivated to regain function or movement from your arm.
    So what is this type of stroke therapy that was super charge your recovery? This is called constraint induced movement therapy. This is a type of rehabilitation after stroke, traumatic brain injury or any type if injury to your brain that teaches the brain to rewire itself after the injury.
    This can be done by constraining the stronger side. This is to bring the activity or usage of the stronger side by using a constraint. It is important to do this to bring down the activity of the side of the brain that controls the stronger side and activates the side of the brain that controls the arm that was affected by your stroke. When using a constraint, you should not be able to use the stronger side to do the tasks that is going to be done by your stroke side. So you can use a kitchen mitt or a sock or a car wash mitt.
    Well let’s pick an activity. First identify what your interest or your goal is. Like if your goal is to improve your ability to hold a hairbrush because you want to improve your ability to fix your hair or improve your ability to hold a cup so that you can drink using your affected side or you want to be able to use kitchen utensils. Prepare those items or ask a caregiver or somebody in the household to prepare those items. Some activities might be difficult to start with. So try to do activities that You can manage or perform.
    How long should you do a certain activity. This varies from 30 seconds to two minutes each task. And how long should you wear the constraint? The maximum time is 90% of your waking hour. You can remove your meds or constraint when you are eating, using the toilet, getting dressed or when you are asleep.
    It is also important to record your progress. This will keep you motivated to see when you are progressing. But be patient. So say for example you are trying to pick up a cup, Record the amount of time that you are needing in order to pick up a cup. If that is Getting easier, try to pick up more cups. Record the number of cops are able to pick up in two minutes.
    Suggested activities:
    Picking up a cup
    Picking up a ball
    Picking up a pen
    Picking up a straw
    Table wiping
    Picking up a hair brush
    Pulling a paper towel
    Page flipping
    Folding clothes
    Picking up a water bottle
    Picking up a coffee mug
    Picking up coins
    Picking up bottle caps

    I had a stroke and I’m doing my recovery at home, so I need help with my recovery. I did do 1 year rehabilitation at a stroke centre
    I came out walking. But that was 13 years ago and now spaciticity has returned. My arm and fingers are tight again. I never did have good control with my arm and hand

      Maybe practice with a video game with the steering wheels first. That might be close enough to real driving.

    My mom had a stroke last year she started walking with walker in 2,3 months but then she got covid now she can not walk . Does she has to learn from starting again? Or we can start directly with walker?

    • @SKILLSANDWELLNESS
      @SKILLSANDWELLNESS  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Practice standing first. Work on the balance then taking a step. If she is good with that, practice with a walker

    • @SKILLSANDWELLNESS
      @SKILLSANDWELLNESS  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is it stiff? Or do you have a drop hand? If it is stiff, stretch gently and bear weight on it. If it is falccid, do fast brushing, tapping or icing.
