So good, Tom! Thanks for this. I remember seeing Oscar Peterson in Albert Hall before he passed away. He could hardly walk. But, boy! the fingers were still butter smooth and lyrical as ever. What a titan of a musician.
Love this piece. Dug it out several years ago. Helped me to rediscover Oscar. Never knew there were words. My wife is a singer and we have a gospel choir……..hmmm. Prefer the sound of the piece in Bb. Always good to try something in all twelve…thanks man. Nice work.
@@contemporaryschoolofpiano just heard a beautiful cover by Dione Taylor on Spotify. Thanks again for bringing this song to my attention. Now to try and get my fingers around it. 😂
Thank you Tom! Awesome take. If I might add, Oscar is Canadian.Yes, he is black. And he as a Canadian writing the most important civil rights song … for Americans at that time. Glenn Gould - another Canadian - around the same time as a pianist- did the same thing- but to the USSR. Might you do a treatment on Gould’s Goldberg Variations? /what is in the water in Canada?!
