This is why Campbell was attempting so many 4th down conversions in the Packers game, going 4 of 5. He knew that the defense is vulnerable the more time they are out on the field. I have no doubt that Packers would have tied the game with 35 seconds and no TOs. Then, if they would have won the coin toss or gotten possession in OT, they would have won.
In this same stretch last year, they gave up 38 to the Chargers 26 to the Bears 29 to the Packers 28 to the Saints 28 to the Bears Then settled in to have a great run. During this time of year, the defense feels the roll of the season then rebounds for a good run. I’m not at all worried. They have new guys, guys playing out of position and guys playing hurt. I have a very good feeling that defense will improve and get the job done. D Line should be greatly improved with some of these guys coming back. All will be good. Goooooo Lions!
You can't look at the last 3 games to evaluate our defense. More key defensive starters have been hurt and out since Thanksgiving. With the return of Pascal, Reader, and Levi we will be much stronger. In addition, our banged-up players like Davis will be healthier. In addition, the new pieces we have on defense have also had more than 3 days to prepare for action. We gonna be fine. Allen is gonna get his stats. He is a beast. We have to keep the plays in front of us. Don't turn the ball over or give up big chunks with stupid PI calls or blown assignments.
The last game Dan went for it on 4th and didn’t get it and put the defense in a bad spot and the Goff int put the defense in a horrible spot. With a banged up defense I would say the defense is doing ok.
I agree that the sample size really skews the numbers. You could say that Goff's five interception game averaged over 13 games would "statistically" put him on track for 65 interceptions on the season so far. That said, recency bias and the eye test do show that it has been a bit of a struggle...but how could it NOT be with the injury attrition that the Lions have suffered. On paper, they probably should have given up more scoring drives over the same six quarters than they have. At the end of the day, it is going to boil down to this...can our D coupled with the errors of the offenses we are going to face create more stops than the opposing D's can stop ours? I think that fact alone gives our D a puncher's chance in every game we play.
52-20 Buffalo, but you get what you deserve for not having a good head coach, and a horrible D-Coordinator... the Lions have won with luck and bad competition all year, this weekend will be the first tough opponent of the season and you will get blown out..
@@cl5619 Bills suffered from overconfidence and looking ahead to the Lions... McDermott is a great not just good defensive mind, and will limit the Lions. Josh Allen is a beast, and the Lions can't tackle on defense, and the best thing that will happen to them is if some idiotic organization hires Glenn for head coach.
Lol some folks are pure delusional. I heard bills have only beat 2 teams over .500 this year and all 3 losses are on the road. Sorry little fella keep dreaming. Lioms are kings of the NFL
@@TrueBeingRealization Nah man, I know Detroit have not experienced a winner in... Well since 1929 so I have to educate you people on what winning against bad competition in the NFC is VS. Winning in the big boy conference of the NFL. Josh Allen VS. Small hands is laughable really... The Lions are the worst tackling team in the NFL against the QB that no one can tackle... 52-20 and you keep talking ill make it 52-19!!!
Wow. Don't hate, appreciate. The Lions have the best record in the NFC and are tied with KC for the best record in the NFL. That is only done with a top head coach and a top D-Coordinator. Particularly when they have more players on IR than any other team in the league and are redused to using players they signed off the street on defense. I don't know what your motive is for trying to downplay the Lion's success, but by every objective standard, you are very wrong about the Lions. They are what their record says they are.The best in the NFC, and tied for the best in the NFL. At this point, there is no better team in football. Your false characterizations notwithstanding.
Reader coming back makes me feel a lot better. I hope he practices the rest of the week.

You can’t be a Lions Cat and not be concerned about how many injuries and the defense. I did hear that we are getting back Levi DJR Josh P
I don’t like the 6 qrtr sample size. 2 full games would be small but make more sense.
They get Paschal, Reader and Levi back this week. That is massive. Add in Decker on the offensive line and I feel much better.
Alim should be too
Is that a for sure? They are all gonna be back? If so.... I think we are pretty much unbeatable
sample size too small.
This 100% defensive injuries.

Bills defense sinks. Rams exposed them.
They aren’t likely to hold Lions to 20 points
