I was all of 17 when that model came out and an older friend somehow acquired one (~$3300 was hella big money back then!). I was riding with him one day and he missed a shift and the 383's hydraulic lifters got pumped up leaving us totally dead on the side of the road (thankfully, not an interference engine!).
No cell phones, I had to wallk to a gas station to call another friend to come drag us far enough to get the air out of the lifters so the engine would fire. As much as I liked that car, I had another friend with a '69 Hemi Barracuda *automatic* that had the better deal 😁
