You're right that JC's voice is slightly deeper than Justin's (but, they are both midrange tenors). If you're curious, the actual order of NSYNC's harmonies (from highest to lowest) is Chris, Justin, JC, Joey, then Lance. JC has the big soulful R&B-style voice while Justin's talent is basically more about ease and control in his vocals. Both great talents in their own way!
If you want some more emotional NSYNC song suggestions NSYNC's duet with Gloria Estefan, "Music of My Heart", is absolutely beautiful and it really shows off the group's harmonies! "This I Promise You" is another great one (JC has a powerhouse solo in that one and the pitch changes in Justin's opening solo are deceptively difficult). And "Gone" is a song that specifically shows off Justin's range (he originally wrote it for Michael Jackson and it really shows).
Jc does the 2nd tenor harmony mainly but he has a bigger range than Justin and often takes the higher harmony in between Justin and Chris if it needs more power behind it. Jc has a 4 octave range.
@@yvonnetownsend2078 No offense but JC's voice sucks. You can hear that he's not as good at "the harder stuff". Every time I listen to their live performances he always sings the song the same way (see This I Promise You), and there are plenty of times I literally cringe because he's so off his note, or struggling to sing while moving. Justin on the other hand switches things up, And makes his part sound incredible.
And I don't think those of us who hear Timberlake's talent care much if JC can sing higher/lower notes. Most people aren't looking for a good range, they're looking for good singing. That's what JT has.

@@pennyyoung2506 I am not sure how much you know about music but some artists make changes to live versions because they can't replicate what they did in the studio.
Jc sounds they same because he is 100% capable of doing what he does in the studio live.
That is not always the case with Justin especially when he was in NSYNC. I say that as a fan. You don't have to like Jc's voice but respect his talent and capabilities.

I think you'd enjoy them more than the first two NSYNC songs you've done. "God Must Have Spent" was a wedding song of mine, it's that good.
Nsync was such an amazing band, the success they had was much deserved. You must react more to their music. The album before this one was really good as well. There live shows where awesome as well. Great reaction. This I Promise You from 2nd album, Tearing up my heart from 1st album and Selfish from there 3rd album are my faves.
I was never a fan of those competitions, where if you are a fan of one you have to hate or at least not like the other. I much prefer to just acknowledge the fact that both can be great bands that I can enjoy both.
You should check out their live performance of this song on the MTV movie awards from 2000! Justin is rocking his corn rows and bandana and they sound even better live! Of course they kill it as usual with the dance moves!!!

They are all talented. Jc probably had the strongest voice but I prefer Justin's unique voice. There's no doubt Justin went on to be the most successful. JT is one of my favorite entertainers ever. His acting is very good as well.

JC Chasez is the most underrated voice in our generation (he's worked with many artists who all concur, and he had a rumored 4 octave range). BSB doesn't have a true bass, Lance is a true bass. Check out I Drive Myself Crazy, I thought she Knew or even their cover of More than a Feeling!

You're totally right, it's not one band against the other... I used to love Take that, then Westlife, then in 1995 I fell in love with BSB and got stuck with them...
In my school it used to be BSB all the way, and may Hell's fire come down on you should you ever like any other boyband. I secretly loved all of them for years. BSB, Westlife, Take That, Nsync. I just loved it all. Still do! But I find it funny that back then it was almost as if you betrayed the "right" band by liking the others too.
The BSB v. NSYNC beef goes back generations. The fans used to fight & argue about who was better. Check out Paradise on Justin’s new album. NSYNC HAS BEEN REUNITED. NSYNC called their sound “dirty pop”.

Yes!!!! I love this song so much. I vividly remember a school disco and standing outside in a little courtyard off the gym to have my free juice box and packet of chips.
One of my top songs from them, better then bye bye bye for me. And I like both JT and JC voices.

If you want a slower song recommendation for NSYNC, you can look at Gone, or I Drive Myself Crazy, or even (God Must Have Spent) A Little More Time On You from their first album (self titled), if you want to get a comparison between their first album and third album. I would only recommend I Drive myself Crazy over Gone because I'm biased towards Chris's vocals and he gets a solo in that one.

I remember the 90s being such a happy decade musically, whereas now I find a lot of the music is quite depressing in comparison. Everytime I see this video, I think how charismatic JT is, because despite JC having vocals that stand out more in this song, JT steals the limelight just with how he moves and his expressions/mannerisms. I don't know if you already know this song by JT, but if you don't please check out 'What goes around, comes around'. It's practically a mini film and stars Scarlett Johansson. Fantastic!

I don't know if anyone has already mentioned it or you've perhaps learned more about the origins behind both that song, that whole album and how *NSYNC AND BSB actually started out ang their actual legal as well as economic issues and being exposed and exploited by the "industry" or mostly one specific person rather..

I think that it's totally fair to compare bands that were clearly competitive at the time. I don't think that you're saying one is better than the other, but there are always going to be artists or bands with similar sounds when one has grown fame from that sound...it's not just in music, that's just business. And in the 90's, these two were the biggest boy bands that everyone was comparing even then. Just like Britney, Christina, and Jessica were pitted against one another in a way to be on top. It's fun to see the similarities and differences between the song writing and personality that the singers bring into it all and of course there will always be something unique to find because every person is going to bring something personal to the table too. Anyways, I appreciate your analysis of these songs and I'm looking forward to more.

it's gonna be me is not from the 90's, it's 2000. But I get what u mean. If u are from 95, maybe some stuff might be a bit confusing about the years and stuff and the fact that many songs were only on the radio for some people. I was lucky that in Chile we had a channel called "Rock & Pop" so i watched videos from around the world in 1998, 1999, 2000 until they became just radio. Then in 2002 i had available MTV, so also was part of the Linkin park era, Nickelback, Avril Lavigne, Paris Hilton, Creed and so many groups and singers, a mixure of everything from Christina Aguilera to Disturbed xDDDD

Good breakdown about why comparisons are needed and effective. Of course u compare bsb to *NSYNC. That doesn’t mean u dislike one when u like the other. Both came up in the same era in the same genre. The comparisons are obvious and needed. I see bsb as better at ballads while NSYNC had the upbeat dance songs that were great. Both were great though

I love both NSYNC and the BSB. NSYNC has the best uptempos with amazing choreographies, but the Backstreet Boys have better ballads with deeper lyrics. NSYNC's ballads are kinda mediocre, and Justin's voice, at that time, sounded too saccharine for my taste (same reason I never liked Britney's voice for ballads). I do think his vocals got better and "Gone" is their best ballad because he finally conveys a different type of emotion and not just sweetness. "Cry Me a River", "What Goes Around..." and "Mirrors" show how much JT improved as time went on.
JT said he thought JC was the better singer. I grew up in the 90's/early-mid 2000's. Agree with the BSB and N'Sync comparison.
JC is one of (if not the) best vocalists of those 90s bands. Too bad he never really managed to make it as a solo artist

I also noticed that whenever they teamed up with another artist for a duet (or sixtet I guess), JC was usually the one going for it (which makes sense, as he had the strongest voice and could hold his own against the likes of Gloria Estefan, Richard Marx and so on). Not saying the others couldn't, but they excelled in the harmonies, while his voice brought the full on emotional highlights

😅 Try being the girl you settled for. I was always the girl the guy settled for in highschool. Even a few years after hs. Pretty pathetic really. My best friend always looked like a short model growing up. I wouldn't say I was ugly in HS but my bestf was pretty much perfect back then. Perfect body, perfect skin, money for nice clothing and regularly getting her hair done. Guys always wanted her and she rarely wanted them. I realized around 17/18 that most if not all of my bfs back then were with me just to be closer to her. Even the guy I gave my V at 18 to, tried kissing her a day after he broke up with me. Yeah, the highschool years aren't good to most people. 😕

Wish their management never meant it a rivalry to begin with. Neither knew that they had the same boss until much later. So much animosity and competition that ruined their interpersonal relationships, but sold records. That’s just the nature of the music industry so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
