  • This video shows you how I pack for a weekend (3 day) out of town crop. I'm working on several videos today, so I didn't edit it down as much as I could... so it's a little long and verbose!! Enjoy, and make sure you leave me a comment with any tips you have for packing for a crop!

    I never did tell you about the ipsy bags. Saw it on one of your vids last year-when you used the beautiful packaging in a PL LO. You opened up a whole new world to me. Knew there were all the monthly scrapbooking kits and have successfully avoided those. Had no idea until I checked out ipsy that you can pretty much get a monthly subscription for a monthly box of ANYTHING! Not that much into make-up but loved the bubble wrap. Tried it for 3 months-too much weird stuff for me. Now getting Love With Food and the Conscious Box. We enjoy "Love" more than the other. At least the girls:) My teen boy can't like anything that says anything on it about healthy.
    So thanks for that, I think;)

    Last year I went to the 2014 Expo, my very first crop in as a new scrapbooker (under a yr) & was quite over packed & unprepared. The Expo is here again next month & until I watched your video still had no idea how to not repeat last years fiasco. I've actually already started off overdoing it again mostly because I had no real page ideas and planned to wing it by throwing everything in my tote. Thank you for the kit idea's. That's exactly what I need to keep the load to a minimum and productivity to a maximum so that I can enjoy myself this year. Thank you!!!!!

    Very inspirational, as I usually take way to much stuff and am worn out from packing it all before I even go. I like the kit idea.

    Such a helpful video, will definitely be sharing with the ladies that crop with me. Some bring so much they spend more time lugging in, setting up, digging through. No time to scrap!

    It was great watching your pack for your crop. I often think about packing a bag so I can bring into the other room and never now where to begin. Thanks for the share.

    Loved this video. I go to a 3 day crop atleast 2 times a year and I try to challenge myself to take less and less each time. I take scraptastic kits and my own kits. At my best I've completed 32 layouts. I try to go thru my pictures and match them up with my kits before the crop. One thing I do that you may want to consider is that I have a 5x5 stackable bins or maybe a little smaller. These are my go to bins for my color embellishments that I keep on my desk. I like to have them in the event that I'm running low. Wood veneer....I came to the same conclusion- don't need that much. I also need to do a better job with my Thickers. My next one is in November so I will let you know.

      lolafox1029 32 layouts??!! You are a scrappy rock star! I wish I could slap that many in a weekend! I've seen people with those stackable containers and they look very convenient for crops. I would have brought a small assortment of wood veneer but I really didn't want to have to sort them all back out to put them away when I came home. Next time I'll skip them all together (wood veneer sometimes comes in a kit anyhow). Good luck packing in November!

    I laughed when you said "I seriously don't need to bring that much wood veneer"!! Lol! And that's what I was thinking haha. Tracy you should do an afterthought vid about what you liked and disliked about scrapping for 3 whole days.

    Well, it was interesting to see your approach. I would have left my kits laid out and then thrown embellishments right into each of the kits - but maybe you need to keep the kit contents separate for other reasons. I thought using an IRIS case for misting was brilliant, but I'm glad you told us that it wasn't necessary in the end as the space it uses is a lot. I like trays like you do for pouring things out but keeping them contained. I take just one tray that is actually an old divided tupperware dinner plate - and it has a lid which I could use as a separate tray. Compact and useful. Thanks for sharing - I'm off to watch to following videos on what you created.

  • @landiodo
    @landiodo 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    When I travel, I use a Becky Higgins page protector box to do my misting in one side and I use the other side as a "tray" to sort through all of the little pieces. It is a lot thinner than the iris container, but doesn't protect against the mists spilling.

    Thanks for sharing Tracy! I always feel like I'm packing too much cause I never know what I'll be in the mood to do once I'm at the crop! In the past though, I have done page kits before hand which helped a lot, and I try to focus on a certain project if I'm going to a crop, such as a mini book! :)

    When you go, it’s a little bit smaller of a box just downsized a bit like have a large and then have like a smaller size medium size or something

    Crops are great.... I have a small jar of eyelets and brads and small metal goodies and maybe the odd pearl or dimension embellishment...then another small plastic containers of wood veneer...that just stay in my crop bag..as well as a tiny plastic bag of fibers and thin ribbon.....other than that the whole process is very much like yours....I often think I should have my go to tools on a container on my desk that can also be packed, but I have nor found that solution yet...

    I find an open tote for my tools is good when i go to a crop....it sits on my table and i use my tools from there. There is enough room for ink and stamps and other embellishments as well as tools. Xx

      Stephanie Gower Thanks for your comment. That's what I did with my tool tote and it worked like a dream. I need to get a sturdier one for my next crop. I think I gave my sturdy one away to my sister.

    I will be posting a video next week on how I pack for a crop. I organize 2 a year, in May and Sept and we go to a house that is set up for scrapbookers in the Colorado mountains for 4 days 3 nights. I start months in advance getting ready and what I do is make kits. I figure out my layouts before I go. For this crop I have approx 16-20 kits ready and by that I mean I layout everything on my page, take a photo of it, print the photo in 3" size and place everything in a clear file so that when I get to the crop all I have to do is ADHERE EVERYTHING DOWN. Yes, that means all my paper is cut, all my dies that I use have to already been cut, my journaling is done, everything is ready. Saves a ton of time because I want to be able to mingle with my group at the crop and to wait until I got there to figure out what to work on would not work for me. It takes me approx 3-4hrs to figure out each of my layouts so planning ahead is key. - Jodie in Colorado

    I am getting ready for Crop and Create in Cornwall next weekend so i am reviewing packing for a crop videos. I've been to crops for a number of years and this year, i am bringing the least i can. I am currently making kits but i think i will leave mists, stamps, etc. at home. I always bring too much and i can add the finishing touches when i get home.

    thanks for sharing your process, I think I would just give up if I had to leave the house to scrap, I always want to just take EVERYTHING, but of course you can't do that... when I had to go into Hospital to have my last, I was going to be gone from my family for 3 months and as they were so far away couldn't even visit, so I packed a TON of scrappy goodies, and it was stupid.... and I only ended up getting like 4 pages done after all that :( Maybe I should go on more crops just for practice purposes?

    • @mercytiara
      @mercytiara  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chelle Beeby Practice might not make perfect, but it makes you better than you were before! You could always go for a one day crop and challenge yourself to use a certain kit, and if worse comes to worst you could just socialise instead of scrapping. Thats what I did with most of my time at the crop, lol!

      Hi there, a crop is a gathering of scrapbookers who work on their scrapbook projects and socialize. It could be held at someone's house, at a scrapbooking store, at a community hall, or at a hotel (or anywhere else I suppose).
