or the landlords can sell for a bunch of money and make 5% on a dividend or bond and not have a rental. With property taxes, insurance, mortgage and repairs and attorney fees it's not worth having 700,000 tied up in a renyal home with risk when you can sell the house get your 5 % and do nothing. A homeowner doesn't owe you a deal.
Use this opportunity to increase density and for fire resistant housing. A lot could have been done to these homes to increase their resiliency to fire over the decades. But many home owners were in opposition to enact these countermeasures, keeping their neighborhood character, despite the climate risks, hence why insurers pulled out. I do not blame the insurance companies. Now people who lost their homes are upset about something that could have been mitigated. As a LA resident, I am all for helping people. But the solution should be long-term, not temporary.
@michaelellringer5600 Ooo so rich they dont need any federal help with recovery right ? And they must have the best prepared fire department , what with all that economy and high taxes. Right?

What's going to stop squatters from putting up tents?
Enforce the law and jail sentences for all landlords who raise housing prices in 2025!

the buyout would be crazy unworkable. these people want good money for these blocks,
and they also have good money for lawyers.
OK. Climate risk? The fools lead the way.
