I’ve been goin thru Angras discography recently, truly amazing stuff. Would u consider making a more videos breaking down licks from open source. Like running with he bulls, black ice, or sertao as their the tougher ones. Much love from Toronto! ❤️
2:48 man getting to meet your idols through meet and greet or somewhere might be a great experience but being a successful and popular musician yourself and getting to play and share stage together with your idols might be something else. I guess you have to be very lucky and blessed too to have that kind of privilege in your life.
Hi kiko, i met you few years ago at"guitare en scène" festival in France, near thé border between France and switzerland. I was a sound tech at the Time. I have the best memory of you, your kindness. You are a really good personn. Cheers from france
Your passion for music is palpable in everything you do, even from way up the back stands at knotfest Brisbane.! The slick ease and love and passion for playing can be seen in your performance. And your passion goes further into you being able to articulate it in a foregin l;anguage like english. You are a great musician, and a great man. Thank you, kiko.
O riff do nothing to say é um dos mais geniais do metal, tenho muito orgulho do Angra moro no Japão e para muitos aqui Angra é a melhor banda de metal do mundo.
One more thing regarding the question about standing up or sitting down playing guitar. Pete Thorn discussed this very same topic. If you haven't heard of him, he's a session player and hired gun for bands. You can find him on TH-cam. He said that when he's learning new songs for an established band he always learns them standing up and practices them standing up. His reasoning is that he's going to be standing for the audition so he wants his learning experience to be as close to the live experience as possible, including cranking the amp and rocking out. He believes this gives him an edge over other players auditioning.
I remember discovering Angra a long time ago. I've always had them in my playlists, but never knew who any of the guys in the band were. After learning that Kiko was one of the main guys it makes me love Angra a whole lot more, even though I don't listen to much power metal these days except for Blind Guardian
Holdworth was a unique person, for sure. So cool you had something with him. I’m sure he challenged things in his head and when you disagreed it became a mind storm for him. He was a great, and cool that he saw you. You are that person, for me where I’m not a lead guitarist, but watching you play like hybrid picking, it’s amazing. I can still use those as harmony and use it somewhere else.
Kiko, if you could choose any people to make a whole band, which players wold you choose to vocal, guitar 2 and 3 (maybe) bass, drums and keyboards? Any instrumentist from any band. Who would you pick up? Love your work, Tesouro
Question: Hello Kiko, since its not a secret that you are using Quad Cortex in live shows, can we all expect Archetype: Kiko soon? We would all be very happy to puchase if it happens someday. Your tone is simply heavenly😍🤩
Thanks for the theory on Major Pentatonic - I never realized why so many cultures used this scale. I always thought it was a simpler version of Major (Ionian) for cowboy songs (in the US anyway). BTW thanks for coming to Reno, NV a few months ago - you guys were excellent!
What an admirable person, really happy of watching your videos. Answering to one of your questions, it would be great some video from you about musical theory. Personally I would enjoy Armony the most. Thanks for teaching master.
on the standing up and practicing... if you want to headbang and move around a lot live: Practice like that when you can, not only alone but with the whole band. This way some bands seems like they have been gigging for ever even while it might be their first gig :D
I used to always play standing. Now I have Multiple Sclerosis and can barely stand anymore😤 I still do it for my videos though. 1st takes help a lot!! lol. That's entertainment. Stand up people!!
Hi Kiko ! The part when you explain the circle of fifth and the relation between notes and why it's important was really interesting ! I think I didn't even blink while listening. If you feel like doing videos about music theory like this and maybe applications on guitar, it would be a great idea. Thank you !
Hello Kiko, I have a question. During recording, when the red button is on, I will get nervous and most times it’ll sound bad. At times I even doubt myself of my abilities even though I practice everyday. Can I know how you overcome this? Second question, if you don’t mind, do you use guitar plugins to record your guitar in your solo albums? Love all your solo albums! Thanks!
You weren't right in front of Allan Holdsworth, you taught him a point of view. That's pretty cool. I'd like to think that I'd never get so good at something that I couldn't learn something from someone because that would mean I stopped learning not that I ran out of things to learn.
Hey Kiko thanks for coming on today & sharing with us. Agree with the question on your solo stuff. So many brilliant compositions to listen to. Highest compliments on Universo Inverso, White Balance & Open Source. Special thanks for putting so much on Ytube for us to enjoy. ( ❤ that little 🐙) Thats what I would really like to see 👀 if it were possible. Stay warm & safe Boa noite
Kiko, challenge: choose a "non-metal" song that you thing would sound great in a heavy metal version (tell what would be different on its arrangement 😉) Cheers!!
Hey, Kiko! Big fan from Mexico 🇲🇽 I want to ask something: Have you ever considered to make an entirely Acoustic album? Found a video of Toquinho and you playing together and it was very, very nice 🤩 Saludos 🤘🏼
Kiko, estou terminando de ler seu livro "Negócios para criativos" e é simplesmente incrível!!! Pergunta: você não posta vídeos em português já faz um tempo, vai mesmo me "forçar" a aprender inglês? Rsrs
Hey Kiko, it's interesting that Allan seemed to agree with you back in 1994, when he told Jazziz: "Some of it [the music] might be a little sad or melancholy. Maybe some of that comes from where I grew up, because it’s a pretty bleak part of the world-in Yorkshire. It was a huge textile town, a booming town in the '40s. You get that feeling just from the way it looks-everything's gray, and the buildings are all black, and, like a friend of mine said, the sky's so low. "I think music is geographically influenced. Even though I live here now," he gestures out the rain-spattered window to a suburban scene looking unusually UK-like, "the music is from somewhere else." Who knows why he disagreed with you initially?
Hey Kiko... I have two questions ... the first question is.... how are you? .... the second is how i learn a new solo (shred solo) without tabs?...... just listening .... Abrazo grande!
I saw Holdsworth play in a very small club in the 80s. Seriously, there couldn't have been more than 100 people there. I recall it being a spellbinding flurry of notes and chord fingerings that defied logic. A question for you. At this point in your career are there technical challenges (e.g., playing particular styles of music) that you're working on, or are the remaining challenges just getting the music you have in your head recorded as you envision them?
You are an absolute sweetheart of a human being Kiko and an incredibly impressive musician but this mere mortal walked out of an Allan Holdworth concert because it was so boring. Different strokes for different folks and keep doing what you do.
Caracas con Arepas. You've come a LONG way from opening for Dream Theater and eating Arepas in Caracas, that was the first time I saw you with my friend when Facebook was still new. I am wondering have you made a video on why teaching others is so important for your own development (besides the business side). Thanks!
Como foi a experiência de tocar junto com Milton Nascimento na música late redemption, ja que ele é um exemplo da musica brasileira? How is the experience of play with Milton Nascimento in the music late redemption, where he is a example of Brazilian music?
Hi Kiko! How do you solve flying with your guitar? Are airlines allow you to take the guitar with you as a carry on luggage, or you take extra seat maybe, or something else? I mean smaller tours and clinics where you need 2-3 guitars. With Megadeth I thinks its solved.
Hey Kiko! Would you ever consider playing and and singing the LEAD vocals of a song at some point, wether for a video or playing live? It would be wicked!
Kiko, I would love to know what is your favourite mexican band, singer, or artist, and if you would like to come back to my country. ¡Saludos desde México!
Hey kiko , tnx for your Q&As, Ihave a questions , I can play one song in original tempo but before that I should play 2 or 3 times in lower tempo , what should I do for live ??? , would u plz explain for warm up before the shows??? Tnx from IRAN♥️
It's -38 Fahrenheit here where I am.. Which is the Arctic top of Alaska.. Speaking of Angra.. Has anyone seen Theocracy's cover of Angra's Time? If not, check it out..
Hi Kiko, What is your favorite scale? Is it still the favorite one since you started playing guitar or your taste has changed throughout the years? Best from Sampa!
Hey Kiko, I'm a composer and musician and I often see musicians with amazing technique but they often lack a good sense of time or groove. It seems that the importance of time and groove is forgotten in the quest for technical fireworks. What is your take on that, and on the importance of developing a sense of good timing (playing "in the pocket")? To me this dichotomy became apparent when I first heard the bass player Stuart Zender (with Jamiroquai: Virtual Insanity, Cosmic Girl etc) and his amazing "in the pocket" time. From that point on, I understood that whatever instrument you play, a good "in the pocket" sense of time is a must in order to emanate any musicality from your performance.
Kiko, what do you thing about digital stuff instead of actual gear for guitar... I mean plugins, softwares things like that... Do you thing their sound is as good as real stomps, amps etc?
I’ve been goin thru Angras discography recently, truly amazing stuff. Would u consider making a more videos breaking down licks from open source. Like running with he bulls, black ice, or sertao as their the tougher ones. Much love from Toronto! ❤️
He broke down black ice in a video. I don't remember which video tho. I think it was a live about practicing hard songs

Keeping guitar height as it is when sitting was actually very interesting tip. Never thought about it in such way :)

So what amps would it be... captures of the QC in the QC? 😜
Edit: more like captures of the QC in the archetype, well...
With you @Ritesh Chettri
I know he used Evh & bogner amps for his solo album. Live he uses Marshall type tones into the quad cortex ,I’m 100% sure though
