Congratulations.. Very nice and good taples for working... I am working in a signe shop for 18 years... Small one. We have a roland cutter and a phaeton printer and a manual leminater... Hope to you best wishes
Yea, I bought a few pairs years (12+) ago. I have no idea where to get more because there are no makings on them. Other then making a mold and having them produced but it's not my design so I would rather not go down that road.
David, On your weeding table, how did you attach the 80/20 to each end of the laminator? I don't see hardware, did you thread the small holes in the side of the 80/20 or run all thread all the way through. Great table, building one but making the whole table a light table as well, using expanded metal for the magnetic aspect and still allow light to come thru. Please respond, Fred
If you were trying to open a sign shop with a 5k budget for equipment could it be done and if so what would you focus on and buy? Ive worked for a sign shop and own a cheap vinyl cutter and have used it to make some money and woul like to expand. Was thinking about a vinyl printer but not sure what to get esp with my budget. Currently i use an only.print shop for stuff needing printed. Would you suggest buying a fairly cheap printer or should i look to invest another way like a better cutter or simply put it into marketing?
Well if your asking for my .02 and my opinion I would hold off on a vinyl printer with a 5k budget. Me personally, I would invest in a smaller CNC machine and software and learn to use that with the cutter you already have. Focus on what YOU want to do but sometimes the market will steer you in another direction that you can adapt to. Let your work speak for itself,I do 0 marking and do very little local work. My opinion is that everyone has a vinyl cutter and wants to print on vinyl, that will devalue the market once there are printers in every household like cutters. I plan on doing a overview of the good and bad of owing a vinyl printer here soon. Although smaller CNC's are common they are more of a specialized market you can ask more money for over the printer. The bottom line is you can make more per sq ft with a CNC with your cutter over a printer with less consumables and running cost.
Great walk thru, just setting up my first signage production area. Where did you source those heavier vinyl storage wall racks from? I've been out of the game for about 2 decades but am eager to get back into it on my own. Thanks for sharing. 👍
We've had them for about 7 years now back when shipping was free of fairly cheap. The manufacture of the wall racks and floor stand is from metalcraftindustries.net but depending on your location shipping may be salty. I know other suppliers sell them like fellers and harbor sales.net. I would check with your local supplier and see if they can get them to save on the freight because they are heavy...
The Blue tube holders I bought those off of ebay about 10 years ago. They are not marked so no idea who made them or where to get more. I'll see if I can find something similar and let you know with a link.
Thanks!
No problem! Thank you!

Where did you get the wooden arms to hold those rolls?
The ones on the side wall? They were a set of plans we cut and made about 8-9 years ago. Real quick I did a search but could not find the plans.

This video was very helpful, I’m trying to get into this industry myself and start my own business, do you have any tips??
Let me try to get a video up with some tips that may help you.

I would love to see a video on your printer. Especially the media it can print on as I would love to make stickers.
Sure, I'll try to get it something up next week.
Hey! Do you do logos with the gel silicone resin?? I live in Belle Chasse and I’m so interested it. How can I send you the picture
I'm retired, sorry can't help.
What’s the best vinyl for applying to MDO with enamel?
Cast vinyl, 751 is great but 951 is the best in my opinion. You want a vinyl that will last as long as the mdo.
