It is the summer of 1957. Behind the spectacle of Formula 1, ex-racer Enzo Ferrari is in crisis. Bankruptcy threatens the factory he and his wife, Laura built from nothing ten years earlier. Their volatile marriage has been battered by the loss of their son, Dino a year earlier. Ferrari struggles to acknowledge his son Piero with Lina Lardi. Meanwhile, his drivers' passion to win pushes them to the edge as they launch into the treacherous 1,000-mile race across Italy, the Mille Miglia.

I've seen the film twice in two days and will be seeing it again soon. It is a wonderfully produced film of the man, 1Ferrari, in a time of his life when it was all on the line... win or lose everything. Adam Driver beautifully portrays a complex man who has one focus in his life... to win. He sold customer cars to race. Racing was everything to him. It was in his blood. His competitive spirit was legendary. You may not have liked him, but you certainly had to respect him. I never knew about his family life, but his focus on the business was legendary. Michael Mann has done a fantastic job in portraying the whole racing scene at the time... one simple mistake on the track at speed, and you're dead. No safety equipment, and helmets and goggles were only there to protect the head and eyes from debris in the air. No seat belts, no roll bars, safety cages, monocoque designs, no tires which could provide the mechanical grip we see today. Brakes were drum and not discs, but the engines had a ton of power in a Ferrari. The cars were light weight and the power to weight ratios were insane. The 335 S cars which raced in 1957 at the Mille Miglia had a top speed of about 190mph, but I doubt if they reached that number, but maybe very close to it, with 2 people in a car. Piero Tarufi (played by Patrick Dempsey) likely won because of excellent driving but also because he was alone in his car, thus making his car even lighter than the other 4 Ferraris in the race.
Great camera shots during the race and you certainly get the feel of being in an open car at top speed, with all the bouncing occurring from the road and ability of the suspension to deal with it (or not).
The film which set the standard until now, for racing, was "Gran Prix", with James Garner.
"Ferrari" is a must see.

I've seen the shooting at Salse di Nirano and Modena, where i saw Penelope Cruz waiting for hours just to shooting few seconds 😅

His last name Driver is the perfection because you can see the drive Adam has for every role he tackles. He is mission and goal oriented and for Enzo Ferrari that's his magnus opus.
Driver was not credible as Enzo Ferrari.
The "drive" of the vid overcomes any "sound" problems for me. Very well done!

I saw the movie, it's great. I hope this feature is included with the 4k/Blu-Ray/DVD release.
Agreed, it's very good. I was persuaded to go to see it with a serious car enthusiast and I really enjoyed it.

too bad about the audio problems..... not just pops etc but Michael Mann and Patrick Dempsey's voices are off... a bit lower.
The casting is good. SW looks a little nicer, a bit more upscale than PC. You can see EF moved up.
PC is always in darkness, more tied to the dirty side (the underbelly of the car). SW is always in the light, white. The tension between heaven and hell.

The crash scenes in this movie were horrifying.
And historically incorrect.
Unnecessary carnage and a deterrent to see the film or recommend it to anyone.

I thought the car scenes were the weakest part of this film, the film itself wasn’t very good as it only showed a glimpse of Ferraris life, there were so many large parts missing, I felt like I had watched a five minute film. I think they really needed a European director to portray it better.

There were about 10 or more, all were based from catheram 420 or similar, the Maserati 250F and the 250 coupé were original the replica costs about 100000€ but they were not all the same, some of them were a lot strange on the inside and not all were build perfecty (to save Money)
Given the name of your you tube channel, why are you not discussing the many bloopers, inconsistencies, prop screw ups, dialogue blunders, fictitious "history" etc ?

Dunno if I'm gonna be able to sit through all the badly accented English. Too bad the market wouldn't reward a film with Italian dubbed-in for the actors who couldn't do it with English (or other) subtitles for those who don't understand Italian. Cars and scenery are great though!!!
Agreed, it was clumsy and comical. Ridiculous as was most of the movie. Historical ? , nope, contrived Bull Shit. !
Audio is Stuffed.....
The audio is an irritating disaster. Please fix it or take this down. As is, it's a waste of server space and bandwidth.
