  • In the studio this week Jeanette's showing us how to make some scrappy binding for the Dresden Block she made a few weeks ago: • How to make a Dresden ...
Watch Jeanette doing some freemotion on this block here: • Freemotion on the Dres...
The block circumference is 68 inches, Jeanette's divided this by 10 for the different fabrics she's used, making each piece 6.8 inches. She's then rounded this up to 7 inches, adding half an inch for the 1/4 inch seam allowance on each piece, so each bit is 7.5 inches in length.
Jeanette’s Dresden snowflake table runner measures 13.5 inches by 42 inches. For her example block here, she’s used a Woodland Winter Charm Pack: www.thesewings...
The Dresden Plate Creative Grids ruler: www.thesewings...
    You'll need:
    (1) Charm pack of 5 inch squares
    1/2 metre of background fabric
    1/2 metre of backing fabric
A piece of wadding measuring approximately 16 x 44 inches
    (3) 2 1/2 x width of fabric strips for binding
Other festive charm packs we think would be perfect for this table runner: Cathe Holden’s Christmas Faire: www.thesewings...

Thank you Jeanette for this lovely video. I love the look of scrappy bindings but I'm yet to do one. I must do one.

that quilt is beautiful and I love the scrappy binding. I have do escrappy bindingjoining all pcs. on the diagonal. It takes more fabric that way but it looked great too.

You could distribute the ulk more by using the normal joining method for binding, which results in a diagonal seam. It uses more fabric but if you're working with leftovers would those extra inches matter.

I love this project! I agree with a previous comment. It would have been good to see how the corners are finished.

Thank you, I loved watching the scrappy binding. However, I wish you had just turned the mitre as would have liked to have seen the effect!

I wish you had shown how you put the ends together. That can be quite tricky. Otherwise, great tutorial.

Loved it but you didn’t show us how to turn the corner towards the back. I find it hard not to try to make it OK. Thank you.
