In 2014, I drove to Montana and stayed in Livingston to see Yellowstone for 3 days. Then I drove to Kalispell to spend 3 more days seeing Glacier national monument. The lasting impression I had was that Montana has gorgeous scenery at every turn.
I really enjoyed how you explained what so many of us just live with. Excellent video. I am from Missoula and I now live north of Fairview MT. Really glad I found your channel.
I live 20 miles out from Livingston in Clyde Park MT, and the winters get amazingly brutal and frustrating, but also really cool and fun. Living in Montana is one hell of a journey
The adjustments required relative to Livingston, MT are definitely not insignificant. We live roughly 35 miles north of Livingston at the base of the Crazies. Many times during the winter when we have 15 inches of snow plus, Livingston is basically brown. True the wind in Livingston blows the snow to China, but there is some temp difference too. Great video’s on things to contemplate before moving to Montana, but remind folks, the devil is in the details. Elevation, wind, duration of winter and other factors definitely have to be considered. I enjoy your vids.
Spot on with your comments about different elevations and locations. I'll have to call that out more in the future. I've shown a few properties where I'm telling the potential buyer " you will not be able to commute daily from this house", and I always wonder if they think I'm being overly dramatic lol.
Agreed , I live in the hills above Clancy, about 12 south of Helena and we're fortunate not to have the crazy wind speeds that Livingston gets, but we had right close to -40 during that same cold period in December and the snow does tend to accumulate here. Already nearing mid March and we're still hoovering right at 0 this morning. Lived in this wonderful state for all my 60+ years and I have to admit that the frequent plowing and moving snow is getting really old. Every year I think more and more that the Snowbirds that head south for the winter are doing it right and I'm the dummy for hanging around here all year - LOL. PS - absolutely love that area you live in near the Crazies. Cheers.
Oh, man - so glad that spring is here now. Good perspective on the cold weather in this area. It sure can get windy all times of year along that corridor of 90! Nice job on the video. 😎
Mmmm that's a beautiful area. I grew up in the Gardiner and Belgrade areas. Things have certainly changed over the years and I think it's easy to blame the change on those moving into our beautiful state, but ultimately life is constantly changing. I personally don't have a problem with people who move here and want to be a contributing member of the local community. I know lots of really good people who have done so. Those that want to come in and change Montana into wherever they left to get away from.... can take a hike! :) I have also met more than one person who was surprised and unprepared for some of the things encountered when moving here, hence the attempt at providing accurate information. Just my two cents, but I agree it is upsetting to see it change too fast. I moved to Livingston to get away from Bozeangeles 😉
BTW : No matter what the political ideology an individual holds, the mere fact that people are moving there will change the landscape overall, (social & otherwise). Population density & the problems that arise as a result of this can not be ignored.
@@jeffreymarley6877 hurry! Boarders closing. 🤣🤣🤣 The issue we have with out of staters. They live in democrat ran states yet complain about their high cost of living. High taxes. However they can't put two and two together and realize their poor voting habits have caused their high cost of living. I'll give another example of absolute stupidity. America history 101: Abraham Lincoln ended slavery. He was a Republican. For six decades blacks have voted for the same party that wanted them kept in chains. The d e m s. That isn't logical and shows how highly uneducated those people are. So with that said.....come on up. Leave any poor voting habits behind. We have enough already. Good news though for us. Californians don't own gloves. They don't realize it gets cold and SNOWS! So already families have left the valley. Excellent (Mr Burns rubbing hands together).
I live in Livingston and it got down to -44°F this past winter. And that is straight air temperature, not wind chill. I work in Bozeman and it was even colder there, -55°F. God only knows what the wind-chill was that day. -20° IS common. Remember we are in a WARM cycle. Do not move to Montana unless you are prepared for life threatening cold weather and bad icy, snowy roads with unbelievable winds, ESPECIALLY Livingston! Eventually, hopefully the normal much colder Montana will return. 😊
I moved here in 1989 and it was 20 below and 4 ft. of snow and I just had back surgery my Doc. told me to walk about 1/4 mi. a day so I went to the civic cinter to walk
The civic center has lots of activities and is open for walking at different times still. 89 was a pretty bad winter. I lived in Gardiner at the time and my parents had to chase the elk away from our horse while she ate. They were starving because of the fires in 88.

My sister lived in Livingston for many years, but now they live in White Sulphur Springs, which is probably near you.
@@jblo6822 yes it is. That's one of my favorite drives if I have to go to Helena, I always go that way. It's a pretty drive!
Got to remember, we haven't had true winters like we use to.

Thanks! I'm glad it's finally nice. I have a pretty good sunburn from yesterday though lol!
new sub! im looking forward for Christmas in Montana!
I loved there for 2 years. Yes windy & cold in winter.
Lived there. Years ago. 1980- 81
I live in the flathead valley. We don't want anymore people moving here. Ever!! 😏

I'll agree after I move there.

I luve in Louisiana. I love the hot summers. I would never make it through a winter in Montana!
Where I live we get 132 inches of rain annually. The wet season is October to February. A lot of folks do water catchment.
Wow! We have a whole department here for water rights lol. Montana owns the water within the state and you have to apply for the right to use it. :)
Here it doesn't get above zero for a month some years a couple months where you wont see temps above zero
We have had -60 below zero a few times

I spent 4 months in the winter in cascade mt
Welcome to Montana little one
My son and fam live there. I live a bit west in Three Forks. -Yes it will get to 100+ But bring a coat. :-)
Absolutely. My parents would always make us pack a coat no matter where we were going. We just had to throw it in the car lol

I've seen a foot of snow in mid August

@@MTlife406 / nice town. I was just there a few months ago & stayed in a cute little motel. I like the health food store & thrift shop there.
Do hutterites live there
You'd be icicle 60s...
Livingston also has the worst wind in the nation, records of over 100 miles per hour, get your facts straight!
Please stop moving to Livingston!!! And quit promoting it please!
