    Nice video. I would really have liked to have seen a before and after short video of it shifting at part and full throttle

    I've always refrained from trani work besides changing the pan and filter. But watching this video I know I can do it no problem. My spare trani is out of my truck so it should be even easier.

      It is a pretty straightforward upgrade but can appear very daunting at first. Best bit of advice that I have is read & re-read the steps prior to drilling (or not drilling), be patient and do not hesitate to call our Support Team at 707-544-4761 with any questions, big or small! Good luck.

    Always soak the new valve body gaskets with transmission fluid before you install them. Also don’t torque the support plate bolts until after you have installed the main valve body and all of its bolts. The reason for this is because the separator plate can be misaligned and you will not be able to get all of the valve body bolts screwed in correctly if you torque the support plate down first.

    I have installed these shift kits in numerous vehicles. They work great and improve the firmness of the shift. Quite often get a third gear tire chirp on the quarter mile.

    Some of these comments are just dumb. This video is to show how to install the shift kit. Common sense should tell you to reinstall the filter and new fluid. And most of the deep extra fluid capacity pans come with filter extensions and the longer bolts.

  • @karenwall6834
    @karenwall6834 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    What about the trans filter and doesn't it need a extension to work properly with the new deep pan?

    JUST A TIP...Always drill a valve body plate on a flat piece of old wood stock ad not on the edge of a table, warping those plates is never good! Great video though, I sure would like to see you do a GM TH350C video , it has much more work needed to do this conversion. Especially the, making sure the right size check balls are used in the valve body, I.E. 1/4" vs. 5/16th depending on whether the valve body is "as cast" or machined. Also using the original valve body plate as a template to drill 3 additional holes in the supplied plate. It also needs to be determined whether the factory accumulator body spring is stiffer than the included B & M spring, if it is... you do not use the B & M spring...These TH350c kits are widely used in 1981 and 1982 corvettes. Of which many of these cars are still on the road and are becoming wildly more popular...Stingrays are in! Thanks

      @tapa2466 I bought it on ebay for 15 bucks don't know what came with it I had that n the cheapest b&m shift kit installed by a shop hardly a big difference but my friend had the servo alone installed in his camaro black n white difference compared to my shift kit n servo

      @@joshup1275 ohh okay. in the video , he never showed it. But the removal of the spring helps the clutches engage faster and prolongs life because there’s less slip. and that gets good bite when shifting.

      Sorry, I am unfamiliar with the installation procedures for non B&M shift kits and can't comment. This B&M racing Shift Improver Kit does not include replacement springs by design. This Shift Improver Kit is our entry level Shift Kit. The B&M Racing Transpak (part #30228) for the TH350 transmission is a step above this shift improver kit and includes upgraded replacement springs. You can find additional info at the link below.

      Firm shift, less slippage when changing gears, especially when going up a hill. This can extend the life of the clutch packs etc.

    got the kit. used a video from th-cam.com/video/r1aEon7AB_g/w-d-xo.html&ytbChannel=null . he details two springs to remove to get a harsher shift. if this is done along with your kit.what is the result. further if bolth stage 1 and stage 2 are applied what is the result.

    • @robertwalker7834

      sorry not clear in my post. i rebuilt this tyranny using the above video. part 1 and 2. where the two springs were removed. one ball installed. i am now looking to put in your kit. as the tyranny is modified to one ball and springs removed. is their any point. the heavy duty kit has a extra oil passageway. to do what?

    • @BMRacingPerformance
      @BMRacingPerformance  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Our recommendation is to install this Shift Improver Kit on a stock, unmodified transmission. If your transmission has been previously modified I would suggest holding off on installing this kit. Of note, the installation instructions state to use 1 of the 4 check balls when modifying for "street & strip" and 2 check balls if modifying for "heavy duty". However, the instructions also state to remove and discard the accumulator spring (1) if modifying for "heavy duty" only. The accumulator spring is retained in the "street & strip" version. If your transmission is set up as 1 check ball and 0 accumulator spring/s you are running a mix of both options.
