    I had the pleasure to swim with this gal in the side lane in a pool, training. She's just amazing, she was doing a 1500 m set with a snorkel, very relaxed and smooth, but incredibly fast. It was a pleasure and an inspiration to me.

    I'm a distance swimmer myself (with a wetsuit fins, mask and snorkel) obviously not to the elite speed that these guys do, but a lot of non Olympic lads do 10/15km training sessions. Ive done a 22km in just under 7 hours off the coast of Cork (Ireland) and hope to do many more big swims! such an addictive sport:)

    ¡Excelente cápsula informativa! Soy nadador de piscina (pechista- velocista), pero he hecho aguad abiertas en Puerto Rico. Solo 2k o 3k, pero igual de divertido... 🏊🏽🏊🏽🤗

    I LITERALLY cannot believe they swim TEN freakin' KILOMETERS in OPEN water. Like, WHHHAAAAT?! It sounds impossible. Astounding.

      200 laps of a Olympic size swimming pool... I can't even do 10 without dyingn

      I can swim about 3 kilometers (versus 10) in a pool. But pool compared to open water is nothing. It's like comparing running on a flat-set treadmill to running uphill with obstacles. I'm still in awe.

    Why they made this documentary with the brazilian swimmer?
    Anyway, congratulations for her Bronze medal at the Rio Olympics, 2016, in the marathon swimming, 10Km.

      She has won many international events, including 2013 world aquatics championship, and her best year, as far as I know, was 2013: in that year she was silver medalist at 5km and, a few days later, won the gold medal at 10km. That made her win the title of FINA Open Water Swimmer of the year in 2013... I think those are good reasons! =)

    what about the 1500m free?

    • @lesanimauxfantastiques7557
      @lesanimauxfantastiques7557 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      the 1500m free is the longest men's swimming event ... but at the olympics the 800m free is the longest swimming event for women. they should have a 1500m for women ... they swim it at other competitions.

      Good news is that most of the animal life is dead. Bad news is that they died because of extremely high levels of pollution.

    • @MistahFrizz

  • @usaswimminglover4965

    wrong 0:45 I'm a competitive swimmer and a 800 is not the longest the 1650 is...

    • @biohero122
      @biohero122 7 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Wrong too. 1650m isn't an olympic event, yet the 1500m is the longest one. I guess she said so because 800m is the longest event for the women at the olympics :)

    • @tway24ironlife34

      USA Swimming lover 1500m is an event for woman. Ladesky won it

    • @miahwallace1195
      @miahwallace1195 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Ledecky won the 800m, 400m, and 200m, the 1500m isn't an Olympic event for female swimmers.

    • @alexblaszczyk629
      @alexblaszczyk629 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      1650 is sc yards, 800 is LC meters. This is Olympics too. The 1500 LC meters can be swam by women in other international events.

    • @texabara
      @texabara 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      1650? What is that? Women; 800mts, Men 1500mts. I think girls should do 1.5km too!
