Excellent explanation and demonstration. You have some great shows. Some of my newer radios that claim they have this function do a really port job of it compared to this Sony.

An informative demonstration thank you, the only radio I have with synchronous detection is my current SDR set up using HDSDR, however I find I use the notch filter as much if not more than the SD to minimise adjacent channel/frequency interference.

Excellent explanation of Synch. Det. Simon. I have the newer version of your radio, the 2010. It really is the best portable shortwave receiver ever made in my experience of over 40 years in the radio and electronics affliction. In 2002 it was selling for around $360 US. You would have had to go well into the kilo buck communications receiver world to beat it's performance at that time. Unfortunately, I don't know how much there is going to be left to listen to on these fine old radios. Here on the east coast of North America there is only about a dozen or so countries still broadcasting to us on shortwave. Back in the day just about every country in the world was able to be heard at some time or other. Sad to see them go. Cheers and ATB Doug.

Your radio would have been very useful in the days when radio Caroline was being jammed by the post office.

Simon, I know your videos are popular these days, but to give my comment a heart after 4 years!!! I'm lost for words, welcome anyway.

Very nice demonstration Simon! I own the ICF-SW77 that also has the synchronous detector, a very handy feature for tightening up the bandwidth when listening to a weak station.

Great explanation Simon and nice to see it in operation. I have a couple of these and one the sync and SSB isn't working so it's going to need fixing. Would be interesting to know a little more about the mod you did to pull in the 8.33 channel steps. Graham
